The transcripts and clinical note features are genuinely useful and are probably the parts of the platform I value most. However, the issues with payment processing, client receipts, and unclear subscription billing have become increasingly frustrating. These are not minor inconveniences when they affect client billing and insurance claims, and I would like to see Carepatron address them. While I still find the platform useful, I am less enthusiastic about it than I was when I first started using it. Pros Pros: What do you like most about Carepatron now? After using Carepatron for a year, the features I like most are the session transcripts and the different options for creating clinical notes. The transcripts are extremely useful, and having multiple note options makes documentation much easier and more efficient. I also continue to find the platform intuitive and user-friendly. Cons My biggest frustration is how Carepatron handles Stripe credit card fees. The processing fee cannot be itemized on the client's invoice or receipt. For example, if my session fee is $150, the client is charged $155.10, but their receipt still shows only $150. The additional fee is only shown to me in a pop-up when I process the payment, not on the client's receipt. This is especially frustrating because clients need accurate receipts to submit to their insurance. As a result, they have to submit both the Carepatron receipt and their credit card statement to show the actual amount charged, which is an unnecessary headache. The only alternative is for me to absorb the processing fee myself. I also find the subscription billing unnecessarily unclear. My account shows that I am on the Advanced Plan and that I am receiving a 38.46% discount for the next 12 months, but I cannot find the actual amount I am paying anywhere. I don't expect much for free but the misleading suggestion that there is a viable free option was very frustrating. You can really only have a few records for 1 patient and then you get locked out. Pros This initially seemed like an OK option for a small therapy practice but the user interface is really awkward in terms of basic billing and documentation for a mental health private practice. Cons The 1 GB free account is misrepresented. Once you hit the 1 GB you lose access to EVERYTHING unless you pay for the upgrade. There is a warning that you are nearing your limit but in my mind, that should not mean you will lose access to everything. I was unable to delete my account or retrieve any records that were within the free 1 GB without paying. They eventually agreed to give me access to delete my account but I was still blocked from downloading the client records which I was able to do before I hit the storage limit. The product is definitely value for money and great for appointment management. The interface is easy to use on a computer but a bit clunkier on a mobile device and the constant updates on accessing the the system do get a bit frustrating especially on the mobile app. I am not currently using the patient record function.
