Since most collegues do not work at the same place efficient information sharing is crucial to our business. Furthermore informations can vary in form and content a lot and matterial has a spot for each record to be shared and filed. Also we need to document certain processes by law and matterial provides all functionalities that need to be covered to keep to European data security and tax laws to do this properly. Pros Modern look, ease of use with no need of exessive training, easy to share with new collegues, fast entry of thoughts, documents, protocols and other relevant information, multiple search options to find documents wven if you forgot where you filed them by simple logical steps. With groups, permissions and tasks it helps us to organize and distribute the documents and information efficiently. Pros Easy editor, modern user interface, quick search. Tasks, groups and approvals are important for our processes. Cons Sometimes the search result sort order is strange and I need to manually filter and re-sort although I would expect to see my document in the first hits. Due to its simple interface it’s a tool that’s easy to understand, access and use in cooperation and exchange at an early project state. I personally use it as my „fishbowl“ to put down ideas roughly I want to work out later. It’s a great tool that needs the dedication of your coworkers as well to unfold it’s true potential. Pros \- Easy to use (minimal/simple interface) - search function instead of a structured folder-system - runs quick, stable and without failures Cons \- I like the idea of a browser-based webapp but sometimes I'm missing a mobile app (notifications, offline editing,...) I like the fact, not having tons of features that I don't need - I want to focus on getting things done. Pros Well, first thing, 5 users fully featured for free is a pretty good deal. Most other products I was looking at only offer trials. We started out with this and over time then we switched to more users. It is well designed and easy to use but at the same time, it has a lot of features. First, when I started to use it, I was not sure about the fact that matterial uses markdown to store the written content. But as soon as I wrote some documents a really started to appreciate the simple but powerful markdown formatting, because I can directly format while I am typing without having to use the format toolbar and it gives me full control. Last but not least, it forces you to focus on content and not fancy formatting. Also, bringing the content on our web site is much easier getting clear and simple document content without all the Html stuff that other systems spit out. We are using the easy matterial APIs to do that and our developers loved it. Cons The mobile app is missing but the web app works well on my iPhone so it is ok. Also if I know that it will be coming. Alternatives considered [Confluence](https://www.capterra.com/p/136446/Confluence/) Reasons for choosing Matterial We started to use it with the free plan for 5 users. But it is not a trial or something like the others - it is fully featured. Confluence has a lot more features but it stroke me just too much - we did not need all these extra features and me as also being in the Admin role, I wanted an easy to support product.
