Pros LexWorkplace is well-designed for law firm document management in the cloud. I like that it can incorporate email as well as documents and that it has powerful search capabilities. Cons Email upload can be slow. Sometimes the launcher can glitch and it stops uploading documents, which can lead to lost work. Despite resistant from our users, which is expected, the experience has been great! Now that you can convert Word documents into PDFs in the software, our users are happier too! Pros We were looking for a document management application to assist us on many things, but primarily being able to access our data from any where there is an internet connection, with great security measures in place, being able to search within the database and document properties and versions of the properties. With so many people collaborating on the same document, there would sometime be issues with working on the most current document. Now, we don't have multiple versions of the document, but one document which shows all versions and a timeline as to who and when saved the version. We can always revert to a previous version too! This feature alone has been a timesaver! The burden of having to maintain an on-premises server has also been alleviated. I can go on! To date LexWorkplace has been a great addition to the practice of this firm! Cons I would eliminate having to scroll pages within the software and instead be able to scroll -- as users can in File Explorer -- to view what is in a folder. Everyone is invested in making LexWorkplace the best DMS out there. Pros Ease of use and functionality. I also love that the developers want client input and actually implement requested changes, new features, etc. Cons The big miss for our office is lack of custom fields - in our case a custom date field but it's under review as a new feature. Pros We have an older generation of attorneys in our firm and LexWorkplace has been simple and easy to use for all of our team members. Cons I don't like that there isn't much customization for sorting by alphabetical order or date. This can be frustrating when searching through folders with a lot of documents. We needed something simple with document storage capabilities. Pros The system is very fast and documents are easily accessible in a number of formats. Work from home / remote work is seamless. Versioning is very helpful. Cons The main critical complaint I have is the inability to directly save a new document into LexWorkplace. You have to save the file to your computer and then place the document into Lex. The operation of doing so is quite easy, but its an extra step that really shouldn't exist. Once your order of operations changes to include doing so, its not really an issue. That said, I would really like to see this taken care of in future versions. To the developer's credit, I am told this is in process. So, hopefully it will cease to be an issue soon. A little under a year ago we released a new feature where you can click NEW from the top menu and create new Word, Excel, and other kinds of documents in one click, from anywhere in LexWorkplace.
