Paralegal Legal Services Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Simple, Easy, and Affordable" August 16, 2023 5.0 The platform is easy to use, affordable, and doesn't have too much complexity, which is what our firm was looking for. Pros We have an older generation of attorneys in our firm and LexWorkplace has been simple and easy to use for all of our team members. Cons I don't like that there isn't much customization for sorting by alphabetical order or date. This can be frustrating when searching through folders with a lot of documents. Everyone is invested in making LexWorkplace the best DMS out there. Pros Ease of use and functionality. I also love that the developers want client input and actually implement requested changes, new features, etc. Cons The big miss for our office is lack of custom fields - in our case a custom date field but it's under review as a new feature. Pros The ability to search emails after they have been saved Cons That we constantly have to wait for emails to be saved; no ability to have directories in matters in alphabetically order all of the time; no ability to save our changes in directories as to they way the directory looks from matter to matter. Attorney Legal Services Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Easy to use and reliable" February 18, 2022 4.0 We have had a very positive experience with LexWorkplace. It gives us peace of mind that our files are electronically stored in a safe, stable environment that can be accessed from anywhere and at anytime. The relative low cost makes up for the lack of bells and whistles that we would probably never use in any event. Pros LexWorkplace is to access, simple to use and simple to organize. It allows thousands of documents to be stored in an organized manner with complete flexibility for organizing clients and matters. The "tag" feature and other file labels are customizable to allow for information about the status of a matter to be known at a glance. Perhaps the best feature of LexWorkplace is that is is a very stable platform with virtually no downtime. The developers are not constantly tweaking the interface so that there is no need to constantly adjust your interaction with the platform. Cons There is only a limited ability for users to save emails in an efficient manner. Emails sent on different dates with the same name are flagged as duplicates even though the content is not the same. Unless LexWorkplace also hosts your email, there are no automated prompts for saving emails. Reason for choosing LexWorkplace Our past experience with their earlier document storage platform, the top notch customer support and the ease of use of the platform, made this an easy decision. No way to save a document directly to the program. Have to save to desktop and then drag to Lex. Unbelievably awful in so many ways. Pros There is nothing good about this program Cons It is so bad that I cannot tell identify what I like least. Office Manager Legal Services Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "LexWorkplace is a Great App!" September 28, 2023 5.0 Please see my response to what I like most! Despite resistant from our users, which is expected, the experience has been great! Now that you can convert Word documents into PDFs in the software, our users are happier too! Pros We were looking for a document management application to assist us on many things, but primarily being able to access our data from any where there is an internet connection, with great security measures in place, being able to search within the database and document properties and versions of the properties. With so many people collaborating on the same document, there would sometime be issues with working on the most current document. Now, we don't have multiple versions of the document, but one document which shows all versions and a timeline as to who and when saved the version. We can always revert to a previous version too! This feature alone has been a timesaver! The burden of having to maintain an on-premises server has also been alleviated. I can go on! To date LexWorkplace has been a great addition to the practice of this firm! Cons I would eliminate having to scroll pages within the software and instead be able to scroll -- as users can in File Explorer -- to view what is in a folder. Pros The system is very fast and documents are easily accessible in a number of formats. Work from home / remote work is seamless. Versioning is very helpful. Cons The main critical complaint I have is the inability to directly save a new document into LexWorkplace. You have to save the file to your computer and then place the document into Lex. The operation of doing so is quite easy, but its an extra step that really shouldn't exist. Once your order of operations changes to include doing so, its not really an issue. That said, I would really like to see this taken care of in future versions. To the developer's credit, I am told this is in process. So, hopefully it will cease to be an issue soon. A little under a year ago we released a new feature where you can click NEW from the top menu and create new Word, Excel, and other kinds of documents in one click, from anywhere in LexWorkplace. Pros LexWorkplace is well-designed for law firm document management in the cloud. I like that it can incorporate email as well as documents and that it has powerful search capabilities. Cons Email upload can be slow. Sometimes the launcher can glitch and it stops uploading documents, which can lead to lost work. Review Source MS Michael S. It is easy to use and the support staff goes above and beyond to be helpful. Pros LexWorkplace is intuitive and easy to use. I particularly like being able to create Word documents directly in a folder and be able to save them to the same folder without having to change screens. It is simple to save documents sent from someone to a specific folder in a case matter. Cons The inability to save an email directly into a file without having to go to "Sent Emails" to save. Attorney Law Practice Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "slower than erosion" November 4, 2020 3.0 We hope it will become what we were sold. it's not there yet and this has slowed us down significantly in the form of countless tiny delays and snags. Pros They did a good job getting our data migrated. The interface is good. Cons The search function does not work - AT ALL. They are "working on it," which they didn't tell us until we were married to them. The "launcher" which links the browser to MS Office is very glitchy. Docs do NOT get converted to OCR even though they promise this. We knew it was a new product but assumed they would be making steady progress and many improvements. It's been about 3-4 months and i'm aware of zero improvements. Other online solutions are upgrading in meaningful ways all the time. This is disappointing. Reason for choosing LexWorkplace No one reason. It was the overall appeal of features, price and having been built for law firms. Cons The inability to have emails automatically saved to folders and/or to at least have the on-screen option before an email is sent to store it to a particular folder (that way it was possible to do in LegalWorks). I switched from using their remote server to Lex Workplace in January for document management. I am very satisfied with this product and with the level of service.
