### "Best Tool for IT metrics"

May 21, 2024

5.0

My experience has been invaluable, and it is nice to be able to tune it for live alerts and catch issues before users even know about it.

Pros

The vast amount of components you can configure via code or in Grafana itself makes itself a swiss army knife for reporting and metrics, from API and UI level to server level.

Cons

It is complex to learn compared to other reporting tools.

### "Create useful dashboards with Grafana"

May 2, 2024

5.0

Grafana helps me a lot to keep en eye on what's happening on my systems. Above all I use the Stat Visualization with 3 levels of threshold

Pros

I use Grafana to have better visualization on what's happening about metrics collected by Zabbix server and Graylog Server (just add the data source). With Grafana I can create several dashboards that contain different kind of panels: bars, gauges, numbers -called stat- (changing colour if a threshold is reached), graphs, logs... Just add the metric you want to be displayed. With these informations displayed on a large monitor anyone can be alerted when a value is out of range in an easy and effective way. There are additional plugins available to better customize your panel. Grafana runs on linux, the installation is easy and quick. You can easily find documentation on internet.

Cons

some plugins are in beta or don't work as expected

### "Highly customizable open source monitoring tool"

July 29, 2021

5.0

As previously mentioned, we now use free Grafana instead of 6-figure $$$ monitoring software we used to pay for, and we can monitor more systems, customize better, and get more detail than we could get with that expensive software. We monitor current and historical performance and capacity on our Dell storage arrays (ECS, XtremIO, VxFlex), Unix/Linux operating systems, and VMWare vSphere. Surprisingly, it is easier to use and gives better dashboards insight than commercial products we have paid many thousands of dollars for. But, as stated before, to get the most out of this, you really need to put this in the hands of someone who understands the internals of what you are monitoring (OS and/or storage arrays), understands databases, and preferably someone who is good with coding.

Pros

Grafana is extremely highly customizable. You can create your own dashboards exactly how you want them. There are many plugins available online -- for us, there is a plugin for just about any storage array or operating system we want to monitor. We now use free Grafana instead of 6-figure $$$ monitoring software we used to pay for, and we can monitor more systems, customize better, and get more detail than we could get with that expensive software. Updates for Grafana are easy to find and install.

Cons

Since it is free and open source, there is no support, but you might be able to find some 3rd-party support you could pay for. You really need to put this in the hands of someone who understands the internals of what you are monitoring (OS and/or storage arrays), understands databases, and preferably someone who is good with coding to get the most out of the product.

Cons

A veces no he encontrado algunas integraciones para monitorizar algunos productos.

Reason for choosing Grafana

Porque ofrece un servicio gestionado en la nube, además de que ofrece una capa gratuita. Es más rápido de configurar y mas potente a la hora de mostrar los datos.

### "Experience with Grafana"

March 31, 2022

4.0

Se ha utilizado Grafana para generar dashboards de monitoreo, pudiendo centralizar las métricas de distintas soluciones de monitoreo como Prometheus, Zabbix, etc.

Pros

The ability to generate visually attractive, efficient dashboards that help the operations area understand what is happening on the monitored platforms.

Cons

That different data sources cannot be used in the same graph at the same time, causing a visual comparison of the data to be difficult.

### "Metrics + Visualization + Alerts = Bliss"

April 5, 2020

4.0

We were looking to have multiple monitoring targets with good visualization to pipe out for both classical notifications and visualization. I can't say enough about the awesome visualizations; makes it so easy to demonstrate across teams when things are good (heart symbol), or when things are bad (giant spikes pushing over your happiness thresholds; dashed tolerance lines).

Pros

I love the customizable dashboards with the ability to zero in on specific time frames. The alert settings can be adjusted, the data sources can be customized, and the notifications can be customized. It's a very flexible tool and is open source.

Cons

The downside of having something so customizable is that you need to invest some time to get it to produce what you're looking for. It's worth the investment, but know ahead of time that it is a significant investment. Aside from setting up the data in and alerts out (and configuring the limits, etc.), you also need a storage solution if you want to keep a historical record; but this isn't super necessary since your data sources likely have storage solutions. Still, it would be nice to have a record of Grafana since that is where you've invested the time and congregated the data.

### "Grafana Review"

December 13, 2022

5.0

Pros

Grafana is a great tool offering connections to several types of data source (sql, postgresql, ...), allowing the user to query and plot the data. In addition, it provides the users with a dashboard where they can find all the visualizations they created such as graphs, tables and many more.

Cons

Despites its interesting features, Grafana is a bit complex to deploy and to utilize; it necessitates a bunch of expertise and information in a variety of fields. A complex dashboard, for example, requires competence in JSON.

### "Works as expected"

July 18, 2023

Pros

The Amount of available Dashboards made from the Community or the Developer makes using grafana very easy. But also if you need to build your own Dashboard you can do it quite easy. Highlight is the Fusion of Data from several sources.

Cons

Innitial Installation can be a bit tricky, if not used in premade Docker Enviroment.

n the company I work for, we manage and monitor CRM and IOT devices with grafana. Having a free version is a huge financial advantage.

Pros

It is very simple and easy to integrate into existing systems. It has integration with almost all database systems.

Cons

### "Metric Dashboard"

March 1, 2022

4.0

Very intuitive and well designed. Good product for network devices monitoring and gauge.

Pros

Nice graphical dashboard panel that show network device utilization, data and stats including time stamps which can be download.

Cons

It doesn't have the ability to set multiple dates/ times graphs in a single panel for comparison purposes. Product might need to consider optional PDF along with CSV when download files.

Reason for choosing Grafana

Graphs which show precise metric performance for network utilization and easy viewing and understanding for the upper management . A good presentation graphical report using JSON.

### "Clear and concise visualization tool"

July 3, 2021

5.0

Grafana doesn't feel and look like extremely modern system, it's emphasizing clarity and being non-nonsensical. It doesn't provide beautiful graphs just for the sake of beauty, instead it opts to make graphs that engineers / developers want to be looking at for maximum efficiency.

Pros

Grafana integrates exceptionally well to Zabbix for producing visualization for time series statistics inside a Zabbix database. The integration is easy to setup and works reliably.

Cons

If you want to use other data sources than Zabbix, integration is more challenging and works around plugins, which have varying quality.

### "Perfect software to visualice the behaviour of your infrastructure!!!"

January 13, 2022

5.0

its a great support for my daily work. Easy to use. It's a keeper!

Pros

Its easy to use. There is multiple types of graphs to show whatever you need. It has an easy interface with Data Base, log browsers, etc.

Cons

I was not able to configure a null value when there is no metric for a specific point of time, just between another ones. So the graph shows a continuos line, but there should be an empty space in the middle

### "Comprehensive tookit to make company's KPIs visible and actionable"

November 12, 2019

5.0

It allows to connect nearly any datasource and build analytics on top of that. It helped us to highlight business-critical KPIs in various aspects (from technical to business side), recognise and eliminate many otherwise hidden issues.

Pros

\- Flexibility of datasource selection - Wide variety of graphical tools to display data - Export in CSV - API integration

Cons

Not really a "con", though a thing to be aware of: one needs to know SQL to be an efficient administrator / user of Grafana.

### "Data visualization with Grafana "

March 7, 2020

4.0

Overall Grafana is very user friendly and at the same time stands well when compared to other major visualization tools.

Pros

Grafana gives the ability to produce beautiful data visualizations that offer realtime insights into the data set s thanks to its rich collection of graphs and visuals. It supports connectivity with numerous data sources like excel, csv, SQL etc. The created dashboards are opened in web browser that gives great opportunity to share and present on network operation centre main screen. The dashboards developed are scalable and flexible.

Cons

In the start it takes little bit of effort to come up with a visualization that you need to develop there on its fairly easy and scalable.

Switched from

[Microsoft Power BI](https://www.capterra.com/p/176586/Power-BI/)

Power BI gives limited functionality to share the dashboards, and owing to IT policies restrictions to not use the cloud for sensitive data, Grafana offered good options to share locally on company LAN network.
