Pros Delve is so easy to learn, yet hugely effective. Watching the tutorials helped me pick up all the features quickly. The search function was very helpful as I did my actual research. The UI/UX is highly friendly for new researchers, but the underlying engines are strong enough for heavy-duty qualitative and quantitative research. 2. The files exported from the post-analysis process are quite clean and easy to navigate. It helps with the process of finding quotes to input into the research-writing process. 3. I feel like it is much cheaper than other research tools, which is a huge plus. 4. The customer support team is amazing, and the best thing is they do not generate AI-like or automated emails, which is very good because they will directly help you with any troubles you have. 5. The transcript feature is amazing because it can help you easily classify Interviewer-Interviewees. This is extremely time-saving from cleaning the transcripts to understanding your transcript. Cons Honestly, if I could change the color of the background when I was doing my data analysis, it would be perfect. For example, Arc browser has a feature that allows users to change fonts, positions of the tabs as they like, or the color of the background with extensive options. However, it is technically annoying to code this in the UI, so I understand that it might not be worth it as a feature. The two-week free trial gives you ample time to test its features, and the educational discount for teachers and students makes it very affordable. I have already recommended it to my colleagues and friends as a great platform for learning and conducting qualitative analysis. Pros What I liked most is the clean and straightforward user interface, which is completely free of distractions. Additionally, providing an instructional video before starting was extremely helpful. To be honest, I struggled to understand the concept of coding in qualitative data analysis despite doing a lot of research, but watching their short video helped me quickly grasp the concept and overcome that challenge. After starting the free trial, I really loved how well it organizes data, making it easy to categorize and analyze. Furthermore, its support for the Arabic language is a huge plus! Delve has been absolutely integral to my ability to finish my dissertation. I was able to code and translate my data with ease and to see the results quickly. The exported CSV and Excel files are perfectly organized and allow for natural sorting and filtering of data. Creating and applying new codes is a smooth process. Everything I needed to see while coding transcripts was effectively on one page. The organization of the app and ability to create cases and participant data offers just the right amount of personalization for researchers who are just seeking essential coding data without having to spend months learning the software. The folks at Delve respond personally to issues with using the app. I was amazed that improvements I asked for were implemented within days. Pros Super quick learning curve. Very intuitive and clear interface. Coding process is simple. Extremely dependable app. Fast search functions. Exporting data to Excel or CSV files makes it easy to then triangulate between cases, codes, transcripts and participants. Cons I tried using the AI feature and did not find that it gave me a lot of assistance since it only used "some" of the coding and made choices and inferences I did not agree with. I probably could have given it more of a chance but I found that just exporting and doing it myself was more reliable, and that way the AI wasn't interfering with my Delve data directly. Also, some optional way of visualizing codes while looking at transcripts would be great. I had to scroll through the entire list every time I coded a new sentence or paragraph, to see what codes I already had that might be applicable. I did not use the survey feature since I didn't do surveys, but this seems like it would be equally as helpful as the coding feature. No, let's be realistic here... 11 out of 10. Faultless. NVivo? It's a no-no! Pros So, many of the seminal textbooks eulogise about NVivo. Well, I can tell you that by comparison, Delve is exponentially superior. If you are looking for a platform to transcribe your MS Word document into coded Thematic Analysis data, look no further. Ideal for Master's level dissertations, research projects, and any other similar uses. I have experienced no security or ethical issues and received excellent 'real-time' customer service when I became 'stuck'. I also appreciated their resource library. While I am not new to qualitative research, their guidance on how to use Delve for my purposes was clear and effective. Pros Delve was incredibly easy to use. I've used NVivo in the past for qualitative data analysis and it's hard to set up, the UI is difficult to navigate and the platform unreliable, but Delve was none of those things. It was incredibly easy to import and manage my data and then go about the coding for my research project. The search functions and categorization tools were straightforward and effective for my data analysis needs. And last, the incorporation of AI was an added bonus. Cons The only thing that created any friction was the price, but honestly, I think the tool offers the functionality to warrant the monthly fee. I searched on other QDAS and Delve seemed to be the most comprehensive for my use. I was a bit apprehensive at first because I was not familiar with using QDAS technology but quickly became reliant on it's usage. I would highly recommend this tool for qualitative research. Pros Delve helped me to quickly highlight specific sentences, quotes, or phrases to be able to code them. It also helped me to organize my codes into themes and reorganize them later when I needed to move specific codes to another theme. I was also able to do quick searches for themes I needed and be able to quickly search for specific areas of my paper to write about the topics at hand. Lastly, when doing a search in my notes area, it found all my specific codes or possible themes, that I could quickly go to, and be able to quickly cut and paste into my dissertation. It helped me stay organized and continue my writing process without hiccups. Cons I had to use a google spreadsheet to transfer all my codes and from Delve so I could holistically see my codes and possible themes. Be at a student an academic or a researcher. I recommended it to my supervisor who was only used to doing it with pen and paper and she was also really impressed. Pros I'm an undergraduate 3rd year psychology student. I was allocated to a supervisor that specialises in qualitative research. This was really out of my comfort zone because I hadn't been taught much about it in the previous years. I found myself feeling overwhelmed at the idea of printing and reading through all my transcripts, physically highlighting in different colours and creating a massive table to write all my snippets in. . . I was dreading it so much that I actively procrastinated from starting my analysis. If u hadn't found Delve I may have not even started now... Regardless, I finished all of my analysis in 10 days... Soemthing that I was anticipating would take a month especially with my dyslexia. I am so glad such a helpful and user friendly software exists and I will definitely be using it again if I am ever required to do qualitative research again. Cons I found it a bit annoying how you couldn't move a certain code to a different place. For example I coded "sleep" 10 codes before "mindfulness". The only way to bring them closer was to create a theme or a sub theme but to my knowledge I wasn't able to just reorder the position of the codes. That would have been a nice feature. I also wish I could have created more subthemes without there being a limit of 3. It also would have been cool if I could clearly label soemthing as a theme or a sub theme even if it was just colour coded. The layout now basically just looks a russian doll of codes.
