Pros The search function uses very familiar Boolean and connectors. The databases are massive, and associated programs like statenet at the best in the biz. I highly recommend this service over the others because you get more security and services for a little more money. Pros The ability to read up to date case law and see whether courts in the future have used that same law and logic is unbeatable. I could not have the same sense of security in my client's cases without Lexis. It helps me negotiate a settlement quicker and if I can save time, then no matter the settlement I am satisfied. Cons The price is too high. You have to bring in clients each month to make sure you are getting your moneys worth. But I often just read cases from other courts just for fun and my personal knowledge which supplants my mild annoyance at the price for the services. Then I cross verify the results with other resources. Pros The ability to look up phone numbers, current and historical addresses, and the addresses of relatives and associated persons, as well as business registration information. Cons Results can be messy and confusing with multiple people showing up. Filtering down is a necessity. The philanthropic searches are not as up to date or comprehensive as other software. I finally had to get a lawyer involved to resolve the issue. If they hadn't been so expensive, I may have stayed with them in my new practice. Pros Software is easy to use, has a good search engine. Natural language search is easy and typically funds results quickly, and narrowing the field is simple. Cons Compared to other programs this product is more expensive and is not superior for the price differential. Reasons for choosing Lexis This is what we always used from the start of my practice.
