### "Amazing product!"

June 4, 2024

5.0

Pros

I've been using LucidLink for a little while now, and the thing that I love the most about it is the ability to have instant access to shared files when collaborating with someone, it really saves time in the long run not having to download/sync files etc. Also the interface is simple and easy-to-use, and feels like a very professional, slick application. Thank you so much!

Cons

Nothing! I've had an amazing experience with LucidLink so far, and will highly recommend it to anyone looking for efficient and easy-to-use collaboration tools. Thank you!

### "The Holy Grail"

March 30, 2024

5.0

FANTASTIC overall experience. Their support is top notch on the rare occassions we have had to use support,

Pros

The remote editing workflow simply works. It's been the Holy Grail of editing for a decade to be able to truly edit from content in the cloud. There have been many failures by other companies and LucidLink finally cracked the code even with very low bandwidth for very remote users.

Cons

There isn't much not to like here. If there was one thing, and this isn't even on LucidLink themselves, it is finding a suitable cloud provider to host content. Lucid offers a few and you have to REALLY ask some tough questions to determine if the Tier 1 or Tier 2 storage is right for your needs.

### "Excellent concept, impractical in real-world performance, misleading marketing"

February 29, 2024

3.0

I want to love and use Lucidlink but continue to run into the same issues whenever I try it out (again and again). I appreciate the concept and hope to see things continue to improve. Great product, but not compatible with our needs and use cases. Same goes for competitive products like Suite Storage.

Pros

I love the idea of having a single source of truth for a "cloud NAS" that is easily accessible to anyone with an internet connection. The user management and product setup are very clean and well done.

Cons

Marketing "without ever downloading" is completely misleading and false - data has to upload and download to be viewed and "streaming" is not practical in many workflows. When working with professional media files (RAW, R3D, ARRI, etc) that are very large (80 - 400 GB per file), it's very convenient to have the files in one place, but they will need to get downloaded at some point. The "streaming" functionality of lucidlink does not perform well working with high resolution/data rate files even in a 1 Gb - 10 Gb synchronous fiber internet connection, not to mention a typical consumer internet connection. It is what it is. Proxy workflows and strategic pinning of data is the solution but can require large local storage to accommodate working with single files over 250 GB each. Pricing is prohibitive vs. alternative workflows.

Reason for choosing LucidLink

I didn't choose LucidLink. We opt for iconik, Wasabi and Resilio.

Review Source

Response from LucidLink

March 7, 2024

Thank you Trevor for your candid feedback. This is an essential part of how we improve every day. And if testing LucidLink as part of a trial fell short of expectations, we want to know about it. Ultimately, eliminating the need for downloading is at the heart of our mission. That’s more than just marketing: it’s in the design of our product. Without a doubt, working with professional camera formats can be a challenge. Large-raster frame sizes, complex video codecs with high bit rates, both intraframe or GOP, carry the potential of placing strain on your choice of storage. To help address these issues, we hope you tried our Pinning workflow to get the best possible experience with LucidLink. Pinning doesn't create a duplicate copy, allowing the continuation of collaborative flows and eliminating any security concerns. We would welcome an opportunity to connect with you and field any other questions you may have, or provide clarity on anything else that you found disappointing.

### "LL could be bomb if..."

April 1, 2024

4.0

Overall good, but the cons make us keep other software to get the full range done

Pros

Having people from all over the US being able to access their folder and upload footage or employees having full access to their projects or another department being able to have access to fulfill their job.

Cons

3 things that could make LL better: -it is very slow uploading large files with great internet -being able to give access by sharing a link -sending files from LL to someone

Hi Kelly and thank you for sharing your experience with LucidLink. We're very happy to hear that our platform has enabled your team to collaborate from across the entire US. We also appreciate your comments regarding the speed of file exchange and our process of giving access to different users. ### "Lucidlink changed the way we work"

March 3, 2021

5.0

It has helped taken us to another level of productivity. We were able to remove all of our dated storage devices and work directly off cloud storage which has sped up access to staff to work from anywhere. We have been thrilled with being able to take all of our siloed data and consolidate it all into one place allowing us to unify our storage and have everyone work off the same true set of data.

Pros

The ability to run this on multiple OS options and have it interface well with a number of server based software applications. We replaced our on premise storage in all offices and now have direct cloud based file shares accessible from anywhere. It can be installed as a windows service or a user app depending on your need and the multiple options for mount points allows to to replicate/replace any on perm storage you could be using. You can choose from a multiude of cloud storage providers to fit your need and budget allowing you to hit whatever your price point needs are. The software is simple to mange and setup, and SSO makes it even easier now for end users. The ability to set your upload download speeds also helps you manage traffic flow should that be an issue on your network. The file locking has been huge for us as well.

Cons

We havent run into any at this point, this product has been a game changer for staff working from home.

Reason for choosing LucidLink

Cost, Ease of use and the fact that it was one of the few that also worked well with all of our file types and servers.

### "I use Lucid Link. Been loving it so far."

March 30, 2024

5.0

Been loving it so far! Setup is a little confusing, probably because it's new to me. But once I got the hang of it, smooth sailings from there!

Pros

I was in the market for a NAS b/c I wanted a way to send footage easily and fast to my editor in the philippines. But I didn't want to spend more money on hardware. I found Lucid Link and watched a ton of their content to see if it was a good fit and then I believe there was a free trial. And then after the trial, it made sense to just pay for it. I love it for working with remote workers.

Cons

It's a little cumbersome to set it all up. The videos are extremely helpful but I also wish it was a less confusing. Specifically, the login stuff. I still don't really understand Root and all of that. lol Oh yeah and I would rather pay an annual fee for a discounted rate.

Reason for choosing LucidLink

It was the cheaper option, it allowed me to not have to purchase any hardware and the free trial allowed me to play with it and from there I purchased it.

### "LucidLink is Awesome for Media Production Team Collaboration"

July 11, 2023

5.0

Lucid is one of the most useful products that I've ever used for media production and especially in this era of hybrid work. Lucid makes it possible for in-office and remote employees to collaborate seamlessly and eliminates the crutch of shuttling hard drives from place to place. Win-win-win.

Pros

Lucid is great for video editorial collaboration work, as editors, assistants, and producers can have one location to access all media production and project files whenever they need. Lucid works great when there is strong internet connection, which will make or break an editorial session. Lucid also makes for a great file transfer portal when needed and can also be used as a cloud archival option.

Cons

The major downside to Lucid is its heavy dependence on strong internet connection, so make sure to upgrade or test your connection on Lucid before their free trial ends. Other than that, Lucid is quite phenomenal.

### "Rock solid and simple file sharing solution for everyone"

August 24, 2020

5.0

Our experience with LucidLink has been excellent. Their support staff has been incredibly responsive and proactive in helping us. We have seen steady refinements to the user experience and the core service has remained a solid solution for our file storage/sharing needs.

Pros

LucidLink allows our company to combine all the benefits of cloud-hosted storage with the ease of a mapped drive on our machines. We use the LucidLink client on Mac, Linux and Windows 10 to share media files between editors and other staff. The initial setup was straightforward and our users were able to install the client on their own machines without any assistance. There have been no problems with the LucidLink client and we've seen a steady stream of improvements to the user interface and ease-of-use in the admin tools. When we had an issue with a specific Linux distribution, the support staff went to great lengths to help me troubleshoot and address the issue. We use LucidLink to connect to our own Wasabi storage buckets and it has proven to be an affordable and reliable answer for our video and podcast production workflows.

Cons

In recent months there have been improvements to the granularity of admin controls. During our initial implementation, there were some limitations in how I was able to assign permissions, but the LucidLink team has been steadily improving in these areas and we are preparing to take advantage of the new options.

Reason for choosing LucidLink

We chose LucidLink primarily for it's cost-effectiveness per terabyte of storage. It beats out cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive on price and ease of use.

### "LucidLink helped save our workflow and output"

June 25, 2021

5.0

Our business last year and this year was to help schools across the nation produce their virtual graduation ceremonies. To do this we needed to collect assets and organize thousands of students pictures /videos and names. Using lucid link increased our organization process and allowed our 60 contracted workers to get the assets they needed to edit with ease. A life saver for our graduation clients.

Pros

The best part about this software is the ease of use. The fact that we can put everything in a folder and organize it to our specific needs ,and everyone on the team can access that and work of that is perfect for us. Using premiere pro with this software helped us edit our clients videos remotely and with speed.

Cons

Luidlink does everything we need it to. We will continue to use them over box and dropbox.

Reason for choosing LucidLink

Lucidlink's interface is like a common drive on your computer and is simple to use.

### "For when you hate traffic"

February 1, 2023

5.0

I love working from home. It saves me driving in traffic, expensive parking and being out of my house for 12 hours a day. It also means I can work any time of the day, so I can be there for my kids in the morning and evening but still meet all my deadlines.

Pros

LucidLink is simple and seamless for working with remote video. As a freelancer I can just log in, pin any important files and start work right away, editing on my home rig as if I was in the city in the office. Lucid breaks down large complex video files into packets in the background, so I don't have to wait for entire clips to load before I can access them.

### "Fantastic, works really well with our Kyno workflow!"

September 17, 2020

5.0

Pros

We did a test with both Dropbox and LucidLink. For our workflow LucidLink wins big, since it mounts on the computer desktop like a local drive, works extremely well with Kyno our video asset management software. Dropbox just didn't work for us. I should note we are only using proxies in the cloud at the moment. Very happy with LucidLink.

Cons

Before we purchased, it did take a bit to get connected to someone at the company, for questions I couldn't find online. However once we did connect, the service and support were excellent.
