Pros

The platform is really easy to use and navigate. We mainly use it to schedule our press releases to send outside of our normal work hours, but the database of journalists etc has also been very useful. The analytics provided really help us with analysing our performance. The support team behind the scenes have always been super helpful too :)

Cons

The only issue we've come across is that the notes made via one user account are not available to view when logged in to another user account. It hasn't caused us any major problems though

Very positive, incredibly easy to use with features that make the press release process much more efficient. Also very easy to edit/reschedule which is important in PR!

Pros

Very easy to use and update, the frequent updating of contacts who have left/joined organisations is hugely helpful! Also, the ease of curating bespoke distribution lists has been hugely helpful and acts as a great offering for clients of IDA.

Cons

Lists feature was initially difficult to navigate (adding someone from a private list while also adding a contact from the MediaHQ list), however after querying with your customer success team it was explained clearly.

Overall very happy with the service! Definitely room for improvement on a few technical things (see above) but based on the recent database training I received it seems MediaHQ are actively working on improving the service and ‘story cycle’ and are very receptive to feedback from users.

Pros

The customer support is very fast and helpful, always ready to help on any queries I have no matter how big or small. I also like how varied the media contacts database is and that I have access to international news desks and journos as well as Irish ones. It makes building lists easy.

Cons

The searchability on the media containers database is sometimes poor and glitchy. I.e. I will search a name in the search bar and it won’t show up immediately, but then I search it a different day or via the browser extension on an article the journalist has written and it’ll show up. Also, sometimes the formatting when drafting press releases is tricky especially when I copy over from Microsoft word or other docs. The fonts will appear differently or spacing is slightly off, etc.

Have used the product through the years - and features that were included in the MediaHQ when I started using the product 10 years ago are now are separated out and costed individually so it's getting more and more difficult to not feel price gouged. Training is a video and very little else. Useful to have influencers on the list hub too.

Pros

The list hub is a hugely useful resource. The product is really easy to use and scheduling of press releases is a very useful feature. The reporting tool is useful too.

Cons

There was no offer of integrating with an existing business product. Two step authentication is time consuming and not necessary. The list hub can be confusing. Lists can also be out of date - people have left, moved jobs or are not included. Title of people and where they work in large organisations would be useful.

Overall very positive, the breadth and depth of its contact list is very impressive and makes issuing releases easier.

Pros

The media database is constantly kept up to date, and the depth of contacts is impressive. I also like the feed on the dashboard keeping users up to date on ongoing events. The platform is very intuitive and easy to use.

Cons

I'd like to be able to add individual contacts to the recipients of a release, not just my lists but this is a minor point, overall it's very good and user friendly.

Cons

MediaHQ is a very useful tool, but it can be expensive, especially for a small businesses who only use the system at certain times of the year.

I haven’t identified any major drawbacks so far, as I’ve only recently started using the platform again after a break.

Nothing negative to say at all. We are delighted with it as we tend to regularly post press releases and it literally takes 2 minutes to send which saves us a lot of time.

Pros

It is very easy to use, I like the AI option as well and the way it generates a title for the press release.

Cons

The fact that we cannot use a generic email address to send the releases from such as pressoffice@hsa.ie it has to be my own one.

My overall experience with MediaHQ has been positive. It’s easy to use and the media contact database is a real time-saver when planning outreach. While there were a few gaps in contact info for smaller publications, overall, it made our PR process more efficient.

Pros

What I like most about Media HQ is how easy it is to find and connect with journalists. The media contacts database is very comprehensive, and the search function makes it simple to filter by topic or location.

Cons

I couldn’t find a couple of editors from smaller publications. The database is great for major media contacts but it felt like some of the more niche or local contacts were missing.

MediaHQ is a great tool with really excellent client support.

Pros

MediaHQ is a great tool for staying up to date with new media appointments and transfers across the industry, while also acting as a really useful aid in designing, writing, scheduling and issuing multiple press releases for clients.

Cons

Overall MediaHQ is a positive work too, however, sometimes the server is slow and has issues with loading and general functionality.

There are features that I have not used and was unaware of. Maybe a guide of everything that MediaHQ can do would be great.

### "An Extremely Helpful Tool For Organization And Distribution Of Press Releases"

Overall I found the platform to be perfectly suited to our needs, weather it be creating press releases, distributing press releases or managing the thousands of contacts we have in the media.

Pros

This platform makes it really easy to organize different media lists and helps to keep track of the various contacts we have for different types of press releases. The customer service was also extremely helpful and they were always open to any questions I had.

Cons

It can be confusing to navigate the website at first but MediaHQ ensure that help is always available to make sure this issue is dealt with swiftly.

### "Kilkenny County Council Communications Department Review"

Mediahq has taken a considerable amount of work out of the circulation of Press Releases for Kilkenny County Council. Being an organisation with a number of different departments and service areas and our Communications is centralised, this software allows us to manage our media communications in an efficient and structured manner. The Customer Service in Mediahq has been excellent.

Pros

Ease of Use.Current and up to date data.Allows reporting on how Press Releases Perform.

Cons

I would like if the package would provide an overall report on Press Releases performance and maybe categorise into the different departments.

The customer service is great. I feel like we are valued with regular check-ins from the Media HQ team. I don't feel like a faceless customer, which is a very unique feeling.

Pros

Media HQ makes my job easier. It's easy for us to send press releases and information to Media Contacts. The analytics are incredibly helpful for me in communicating my department's efficacy to our Senior Management Team. It also allows us to tailor our approaches moving forward.

Cons

I wouldn't say I like the price point, but I understand why it needs to be so expensive.

Very good experience - I would be lost without MediaHQ as it takes a whole swathe of potential work off my plate. I don't need to manage media lists, record my press releases or wonder if my release was opened, it's all there in one portal.

Pros

It provides a number of different resources, which I really like - access to media contacts, creation of lists, support writing press releases, post release analytics. It is a key tool in managing good engagement with media as a stakeholder. It is relatively easy to use and when I have a question, the support is excellent.

Cons

Sometimes the database does not have a media contact, even ones that would be well known. I would also like if I could add my own additional contacts when issuing a press release.

Media HQ makes our job easier. We issue a lot of comms, I would say more than the average brand, so it's crucial we're reaching the right audience on the right topics and the analytics are very useful so we can see the open rate and the journalists most likely to cover. There are additional useful features that we really enjoy like the news feed etc.

Pros

MediaHQ's interface and ease of use is its best feature. Compared to other tools in the market it's much more user friendly and more importantly the database is up-to-date. MediaHQ is continuously improving its features also which is great to see.

Cons

Sometimes it can lag whilst waiting on a page to load, but that's more to do with my impatience than a problem with the service itself! UK lists could probably do with some building out overall.

Reason for choosing MediaHQ

Media HQ is the leader for us in terms of media distribution. It's reliable and easy to use.

Pros

Very easy to use and to send press release out to hundreds of media contacts simultaneously.

Cons

When trying to send a test email of a drafted press release, I think there should be an alert that comes up to say 'Your test email could not be sent because you have left a field blank.' However, if I have indeed left a field blank (which I have accidentally done a few times), it looks as if the test email has been sent and I'm then left wondering why it hasn't arrived. It's a small gripe!

Pros

I like how easy it is to use as that is the most important factor to me in any online tool. I was excited to hear of this tool as it gives charities like ourselves the resources to develop large amounts of media coverage without the costs of a PR agencies which is not within out budget to seek out. I like the segmented lists and number of contacts available in each industry to target for the best chance of success and I love the results we have had to date!

Cons

The search can be a bit slow but that is totally understandable with such a large amount of results on any website! So not so much a negative but just one of those things really.

Media HQ's interface is well- designed and easy to use. Their lists are always up to date and the media outlets/journalists they have listed often have important information such as publication date and reach. The Customer Support team are excellent and always at hand.

Cons

The price is high, especially if you are not using it on a regular basis.
