It’s particularly useful for building targeted media lists and getting press releases out quickly. Pros An efficient platform which simplifies media list management and press release distribution. The ability to build targeted lists and easily edit is a major plus, and having journalist contact details and recent articles in one place saves a lot of time. I also find the Chrome add-on particularly useful for adding contacts to lists quickly and easily. Cons While the platform is efficient, the journalist database can sometimes feel a little out of date. The actual interface for editing releases can feel slightly clunky when editing longer releases also, and slightly temperamental when pasting content. A couple of times I’ve forgotten to attach photos to press releases – perhaps a more prominent place for attachments or a simple flag reminder may help. Pros Ease of use for creating and managing media list, making it quicker and more streamlined and easier to manage campaigns and press release distribution. Cons No major cons, but sometimes I feel like I miss updates on the dashboard so would be good to be able to filter or be notified proactively of relevant changes in my industry area. Head of Communications Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Good pruduct" February 22, 2023 4.0 Have used the product through the years - and features that were included in the MediaHQ when I started using the product 10 years ago are now are separated out and costed individually so it's getting more and more difficult to not feel price gouged. Training is a video and very little else. Useful to have influencers on the list hub too. Pros The list hub is a hugely useful resource. The product is really easy to use and scheduling of press releases is a very useful feature. The reporting tool is useful too. Cons There was no offer of integrating with an existing business product. Two step authentication is time consuming and not necessary. The list hub can be confusing. Lists can also be out of date - people have left, moved jobs or are not included. Title of people and where they work in large organisations would be useful. Definitely room for improvement on a few technical things (see above) but based on the recent database training I received it seems MediaHQ are actively working on improving the service and ‘story cycle’ and are very receptive to feedback from users. Pros The customer support is very fast and helpful, always ready to help on any queries I have no matter how big or small. I also like how varied the media contacts database is and that I have access to international news desks and journos as well as Irish ones. It makes building lists easy. Cons The searchability on the media containers database is sometimes poor and glitchy. I.e. I will search a name in the search bar and it won’t show up immediately, but then I search it a different day or via the browser extension on an article the journalist has written and it’ll show up. Also, sometimes the formatting when drafting press releases is tricky especially when I copy over from Microsoft word or other docs. The fonts will appear differently or spacing is slightly off, etc. Review Source RG Ryan G. Also very easy to edit/reschedule which is important in PR! Pros Very easy to use and update, the frequent updating of contacts who have left/joined organisations is hugely helpful! Also, the ease of curating bespoke distribution lists has been hugely helpful and acts as a great offering for clients of IDA. Cons Lists feature was initially difficult to navigate (adding someone from a private list while also adding a contact from the MediaHQ list), however after querying with your customer success team it was explained clearly. We mainly use it to schedule our press releases to send outside of our normal work hours, but the database of journalists etc has also been very useful. The analytics provided really help us with analysing our performance. The support team behind the scenes have always been super helpful too :) Cons The only issue we've come across is that the notes made via one user account are not available to view when logged in to another user account. Cons I'd like to be able to add individual contacts to the recipients of a release, not just my lists but this is a minor point, overall it's very good and user friendly. Pros I really appreciate the up-to-date media lists they have provided for Irish media and in the North of Ireland, plus the easy to use search of the database function. Cons I think the list feature where MediaHQ provides catered lists should be part of the included initial plan. Overall, it’s been a really good experience. It saves me time, helps me get things done faster, and takes the stress out of media outreach. It’s reliable and easy to use, which is honestly all I need when things are busy. Pros What I like most is that it just makes things easier. It’s quick to use, the contacts are up to date, and I don’t have to second guess if I’m sending something to the right person. It saves me time and hassle, especially when I’m under pressure. The layout is straightforward, and I can pull a list or send a release without overthinking it. It’s just… easy. And that’s what I need. Cons What I like least is probably the international reach, it’s very focused on Ireland and the UK, which is fine for most of my work, but limiting if I need to go wider. Also, sometimes I come across journalist info that’s out of date, which can be frustrating. And the analytics after sending a release could be a bit more detailed. It does the job though. The service saves time and is great for analytic data like open and click rates. Pros We find that Media HQ is a very efficient tool to distribute press releases and liaise with media. Having a readymade template for releases and being able to see what it will look like in inboxes is very helpful but having media lists to easily send material to is a game-changer in terms of time and efficiency. Pros MediaHQ is a great tool for staying up to date with new media appointments and transfers across the industry, while also acting as a really useful aid in designing, writing, scheduling and issuing multiple press releases for clients. Cons Overall MediaHQ is a positive work too, however, sometimes the server is slow and has issues with loading and general functionality. Being an organisation with a number of different departments and service areas and our Communications is centralised, this software allows us to manage our media communications in an efficient and structured manner. The Customer Service in Mediahq has been excellent. Pros Ease of Use.Current and up to date data.Allows reporting on how Press Releases Perform. Cons I would like if the package would provide an overall report on Press Releases performance and maybe categorise into the different departments. It's easy for us to send press releases and information to Media Contacts. The analytics are incredibly helpful for me in communicating my department's efficacy to our Senior Management Team. I don't need to manage media lists, record my press releases or wonder if my release was opened, it's all there in one portal. Pros It provides a number of different resources, which I really like - access to media contacts, creation of lists, support writing press releases, post release analytics. It is a key tool in managing good engagement with media as a stakeholder. It is relatively easy to use and when I have a question, the support is excellent. Cons Sometimes the database does not have a media contact, even ones that would be well known. I would also like if I could add my own additional contacts when issuing a press release. We issue a lot of comms, I would say more than the average brand, so it's crucial we're reaching the right audience on the right topics and the analytics are very useful so we can see the open rate and the journalists most likely to cover. There are additional useful features that we really enjoy like the news feed etc. Pros MediaHQ's interface and ease of use is its best feature. Compared to other tools in the market it's much more user friendly and more importantly the database is up-to-date. MediaHQ is continuously improving its features also which is great to see. Cons Sometimes it can lag whilst waiting on a page to load, but that's more to do with my impatience than a problem with the service itself! UK lists could probably do with some building out overall. Cons When trying to send a test email of a drafted press release, I think there should be an alert that comes up to say 'Your test email could not be sent because you have left a field blank.' However, if I have indeed left a field blank (which I have accidentally done a few times), it looks as if the test email has been sent and I'm then left wondering why it hasn't arrived. November 29, 2022 5.0 Seamless Pros I like how easy it is to use as that is the most important factor to me in any online tool. I was excited to hear of this tool as it gives charities like ourselves the resources to develop large amounts of media coverage without the costs of a PR agencies which is not within out budget to seek out. I like the segmented lists and number of contacts available in each industry to target for the best chance of success and I love the results we have had to date! Cons The search can be a bit slow but that is totally understandable with such a large amount of results on any website! So not so much a negative but just one of those things really.
