### "Finally found an intuitve DB manager."

April 3, 2026

5.0

I've used many DB managers over the last 35 years. This is by far the easiest to use and provides the most features in a single application.

Pros

I really appreciate the range of Database formats that it supports. I use a wide variety of formats and always had to use multiple DB managers before DBVisualizer.

Cons

I don't really have any negative comments about the product. I've been using it for 2 months now on large projects. Regretfully, I wish I had found it sooner.

### "DbVis Best Choice"

April 2, 2026

5.0

Very positive, I've had amazing service when I've had to email in, and very fast responses to all inquiries.

Pros

Absolutely flawless GUI with ease of navigation, robust ability to connect with multiple connections of varying types, or versions, and outstanding query formatting abilities. Database Dictionary creation could use a little bit of work, but with the addition of AI in the newest version the groundwork is definitely there.

Cons

Pay wall. I understand it's how business works, but more tailored subscription options would be very desirable.

Really positive experience with a great product that I can recommend to anybody that works with different databases.

Pros

Really easy to use with many different databases and auth options. Have not yet found any thing that can’t be done.

Cons

Java setup and dependencies can be a bit tricky on some setups, but I have it working on both windows and Linux, so not that bad.

### "DbVisuaizer: A Reliable and Versatile Tool for Everyday Database Management"

April 2, 2026

5.0

Overall, DbVisualizer is a dependable and powerful database tool that excels in relational data management.

Pros

\- Easy to use. - Clean interface - Learning curve is moderate - Like visual query building, ER diagrams, and clear table relationship views making easier to understand complex database structures.

Cons

So far, I genuinely have not encountered any significant issues or drawbacks with the tool, and it has consistently met my expectations across all areas of use.

### "dbVisualizer meets the needs of the masses."

September 18, 2025

4.0

Overall, I recommend dbV for large scale deployments to give the maximum functionality for the value. But I think power users will require something a little more sophisticated.

Pros

I think it's a great value for the money, especially when needing to deploy to a large number of team members. Better than paying for dbArtisian or RapidSQL for the masses. We deploy dbVisualizer to all database team members and only deploy a more expensive tool for the select few power users.

Cons

In the community version, I'm only allowed to have one SQL Commander window open but in the paid version you can open multiple versions. Also when you expand a database, if knows my default schema is dbo, but it makes me scroll through hundreds of schemas to get there versus putting the default at the top of the list. Also double quotes seem to cause a java error when sending SQL to the database server. I have to convert legacy code to use single quotes.

Switched from

[Rapid SQL](https://www.capterra.com/p/215817/Rapid-SQL/)

cost of deployment for our team size. dbV was far cheaper than the license for RAPID.

My experience with DbVisualizer has been excellent. I use it as my primary tool for database administration.

Pros

Cons

I wish I could work with a version control system like Git.

### "Excellent SQL tool"

April 13, 2026

5.0

Very good. Excellent tool that allows me to access and interrogate multiple databases and extract data

Pros

It connects to multiple database types including Vertica, unlike many other SQL tools. New AI tools make writing and correcting SQL far easier. Has SSH tunnelling capability so I can use Bastion to access databases in a secure AWS environment. Can write to files in various formats (CSV, TAB, etc) so can extract many millions of rows of data easily

Cons

Would be good if it could do cross database joins and predict and auto fill / suggest field and table names from those connected. Have to pay for the good features, like multiple SQL tabs

Pros

Cons

The "describe" function using Oracle data dictionary. Apart from that, I don't see any real "flaws" to point out. In any case, nothing insurmountable.

### "DbVisualizer Streamlines Data Gathering Needs into 1 Application"

September 4, 2024

5.0

DbVisualizer streamlines my query needs by making it a one-stop shop. I have MongoDB, T-SQL, Oracle, etc. connections setup so I can access our everything from one simple query tool.

Pros

I like how I can connect to multiple database types from one application. I also like being able to quickly view the data without having to write or wait for a default query to run. The export to CSV is so much faster and easier than your standard SSMS.

Cons

I wish the shortcut keys were easier to use and similar to SSMS. I catch myself hitting F5 instead of Shift + Enter a lot. It would be nice to also have a right click view top ### rows as well.

### "Great overall database management tool"

September 4, 2024

5.0

Overall great, reason why I even chose to get a pro license. Projects like dbvisualizer must be supported for them to improve.

Pros

It does everything one would expect from a database client but better. The number of supported database types is incredible; the new ui twicks and the memory improvement are great.

Cons

Limited data model design tools; the interface still requires a long onboarding phase.

### "One tool to rule all database connections!"

April 4, 2024

5.0

Pros

I have been using DbVisualizer for the past 5 years and I have been quite accustomed with it so much that I do not look elsewhere. Whenever I change companies, I immediately recommend using this tools to others. Easy to use and has a lot of capabilities a database user needs

Cons

There can be minor issues when upgrade happens. Once after upgrade, all my connections were lost, and there were no backups found. I had to recreate them from scratch again. As a learning, I do upgrade often, and when I do, I take a backup of all the connections first.

### "Awesome and very powerful tool"

June 2, 2023

5.0

Pros

Fantastic tool very easy to use an very intuitive. The number of database supported is very good and so no need to have multiple apps. This is very helpful when you want to test a new database.

Cons

The possibility to mix query results between multiple data source would be a great feature. Particularly when you use SQL and NoSQL databases.

### "Powerful, flexible & verstile"

October 20, 2020

5.0

Since 2015, I've been using DbVisualizer in order to work, primarily, with Salesforce. Since then I've also used it with Sqlite3, PostgreSQL, MS SqlServer and others. The Pro version is especially handy due to having the ability to open as many SQL (and other) windows as necessary. Once I used the macro abilities for ETL type of work and found that to be easier than expected. Overall, a solid, worthwhile tool.

Pros

Interfaces with any database I've attempted to use. Extremely useful with Salesforce (assuming availability of an appropriate JDBC driver) Easy to discover schema, save schema, duplicate databases for multiple environments Shows all data in a specified table Data exportable and importable as CSV

Cons

Sometimes, setting up a new database connection can be a little tricky. Admin must know the options.

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

Flexibility for use with a wide variety of databases.

### "Great Product...Easy to Use!"

October 20, 2020

5.0

Overall...great experience. Really like working with DbVis!

Pros

Really like the ease of use. It's reliable, dependable and just a workhorse to query your database. Like the fact that the updates are easy to install. When I have a question and/or a problem that needs resolution, there are lots of resources available to help.

Cons

I did have a problem once that was especially challenging and difficult for me to bring to resolution, but eventually I was able to solve it. An upgrade stalled midway through that just would not successfully complete the installation process. Customer service was able to help me identify that the install was hungup and expecting the latest version of other software on my laptop. Once that was updated the install process completed successfully.

### "DB Visualizer"

July 15, 2021

5.0

Excellent; Support is first rate and the online manual supplies practical examples for scripting or the use of variables.

Pros

Ability to connect to almost any ODBC/JDBC compliant data emgine. Ease of using either tabs or multiple SQL statements in a single tab. Ability to import data from desktop to remote data store. Ability to do an explain/execution plan ( if db engine supports functionality) and get a relative idea of data paths for a query.

Cons

Lack of "find/attribute help" when writing a query or SQL statement. Many tools provide "bubble help" of attributes as you type.

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

Other tools were either to specialized for a particular db engine or had limitations on what was supported for use in certain db engines.

### "Long time user and fan of DbVisualizer - Great tool."

March 9, 2021

Having used DBVisualizer for more than 10 years, it is my 'go to' tool for Database mapping and exploration, direct querying and query building.

Pros

SQL History, Format SQL, SQL Preview, View data, Explore tables, Generic connection support, Search function.

Cons

There is not much to dislike. This product saves so much time over other products, and there are functions that I haven't even got to using yet.

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

DBVisualizer offered a comprehensive trial version, providing time to explore the vast number of functions and capabilities of the software. JDBC and generic connectivity options for supporting many database types. Value and price were also contributing factors.
