This is my daily work and DbVisualizer is my daily tool. Pros Working with a lot of databases. Starts quick and the interface is selbstbeschreibend. It's easy to use because it's intuitive and there are always small improvements that help me. Cons There is no implementation for special things, such as copying tables to Postgres. Also things like Oracle Tuning Advisor or PgAnalysis are not to be found or not implemented. Review Source NN Norman N. I have MongoDB, T-SQL, Oracle, etc. connections setup so I can access our everything from one simple query tool. Pros I like how I can connect to multiple database types from one application. I also like being able to quickly view the data without having to write or wait for a default query to run. The export to CSV is so much faster and easier than your standard SSMS. Cons I wish the shortcut keys were easier to use and similar to SSMS. I catch myself hitting F5 instead of Shift + Enter a lot. It would be nice to also have a right click view top ### rows as well. September 9, 2024 5.0 It's been seamless in connecting to different data sources. Pros One of the best options with DbV is the Query Builder. Being able to build queries through this tool helped me to visualize and understand syntax, table joins, and many other features. I was a beginner when I started but now I am not only able to write queries with out the query builder, I also have a better understanding of how to use a db to maximize the data analysis. It is reliable, has all the features I need, and keeps on improving to support more server types and add new features. I like its ability to build queries with column aids, to run large queries when necessary, to keep track of many database connections, and to run explain plan queries with visualization. Cons No problems really. I've stuck with it for a long time even though there are numerous competitors. We continue to use it, even after 4 years. Pros I think the software is very easy to install and get going quickly. I helped choose the product for my team and picked it over many others, even the free ones! It works great for querying and updating data. Cons The free version is good but lacks a ton of power. You have to upgrade to the pro version to get most of the functionality that an analyst team needs. Data Migration Specialist Legal Services Used the software for: 2+ years ### "One of my "Must Have" Tools" September 21, 2020 5.0 Pros I've been using DBVis for about as long as it's been around. I recall using it back around 1999. This product has continued to evolve and improve, which is why I continue to subscribe to annual updates. The greatest benefit I've gotten from the app is a single platform providing access to any data source having a JDBC driver (which is probably near all of them) and that exposes those differing systems in a common and consistent way. There is absolutely no noticeable lag or buffering or constant cache updates like I see with another product. Cons Prior to about 2017 I'd have very little to say here. Around that time I began using a programming editor, JetBrains IntelliJ Ultimate. Part of that software is their full DataGrip application. Somehow, they've got the edge when it comes to code completion and object introspection. The responsiveness within the UI is so much quicker and smoother than when I enable auto-completion in DbVis. Reason for choosing DbVisualizer I use both DbVis and IntelliJ DataGrip (bundled with their editor). For it's integration with editor and object introspection, DG is preferred. For an overall more responsive and flexible experience, I use DbVis. Review Source PM Paul M. It allows me to easily modify database schema, load new 'experimental' datasets, and then run queries against them. (Hence, if I had Python scripting in DbVisualizer, I could do everything in there and I would only ever use DbVisualizer). Pros It's easy to connect to databases, easy to manage and query them, it's simply a fantastic tool for anyone who frequently interacts with databases. I use it in preference to the database vendor's own tools - I use one tool to rule them all :^). Cons I haven't come across any yet. But...if I had a wish list feature that I could add to DbVisualizer, it would be support for something like Python scripting within DbVisualizer itself. That would give me the perfect tool. Reason for choosing DbVisualizer I found DbVisualizer much easier to use than any of these alternatives. It was more intuitive and the database driver and database connection wizards make it easy to connect to any database that I need to use. Review Source MA Merlin A. April 4, 2024 5.0 Pros I have been using DbVisualizer for the past 5 years and I have been quite accustomed with it so much that I do not look elsewhere. Whenever I change companies, I immediately recommend using this tools to others. Easy to use and has a lot of capabilities a database user needs Cons There can be minor issues when upgrade happens. Once after upgrade, all my connections were lost, and there were no backups found. I had to recreate them from scratch again. As a learning, I do upgrade often, and when I do, I take a backup of all the connections first. Review Source Genuine B. Pros DbVisualizer was a game changer for us when we were evaluating expensive products to do data collection. It provided as with cost effective options to collect large amount of data effortlessly.
