### "What is not to like about DbVisualizer?"

April 2, 2026

5.0

Superb. I use it every day! I have a number of databases that I regularly use to either develop against or to extract information for whatever analysis I want to perform. My goto is DbVisualizer. No other tool I have used comes anywhere close.

Pros

What I love most is that I can EASILY post lots of data to and from a spreadsheet!! What you are looking to seed data this is an absolute godsend.

Cons

Nothing comes to mind. I mean really, nothing at all comes to mind. Most tools there is something or other that niggles you. I have yet to find anything.

### "Centralize All Your DB Connections in DbVisualizer"

April 7, 2025

5.0

I've been using DbVisualizer for over 8 years and have been very happy with it. It’s a tool I confidently recommend and have introduced to my team members.

Pros

It's a consolidated tool that helps me manage all my database connections in one place. I also appreciate the built-in Data Expert feature, which allows me to efficiently bulk-export data from a database to a flat file.

Cons

The welcome page needs to be redesigned, as it currently offers limited usability. Additionally, the intelligence feature often fails to function properly. It does not reliably suggest available tables, columns as you start to type scripts. It would be also great to have a feature that allows syncing connections to the cloud, so that all team members can view and use shared connections for collaborative work. Additionally, I find the current feature set per connection to be somewhat limited. For example, with Snowflake, I can only run SQL queries—there’s no support for running Snowflake Notebooks, Python scripts, Streamlit apps, and other advanced capabilities.

### "One Tool for all days long"

March 5, 2025

5.0

DbVisualizer works in OSX AND Windows (I do not like this system) and with oracle and Postgres. This is my daily work and DbVisualizer is my daily tool.

Pros

Working with a lot of databases. Starts quick and the interface is selbstbeschreibend. It's easy to use because it's intuitive and there are always small improvements that help me.

Cons

There is no implementation for special things, such as copying tables to Postgres. Also things like Oracle Tuning Advisor or PgAnalysis are not to be found or not implemented.

### "DBViz works well for me"

September 5, 2024

5.0

I use it everyday. The Pro version is a must as I often have many tabs open.

Pros

I like the export functionality the best. It is also fairly easy to set up the drivers and connect. The option for Dark mode is a lifesaver.

Cons

I wish there was a better way to alias columns in bulk, instead of typing ,a. in from of all of them. I wish there was a word wrap on editor tabs so that if I have a long name for a query file it doesn't take up so much horizontal space.

### "DbVisualizer is the Best DB Management"

September 5, 2024

5.0

I have been using DbVisualizer since I started working, which is more than 10 years now. DbVisualizer is an easy-to-use tool designed to work with almost every database. The databases I use regularly are DB2 and MariaDB.

Pros

I use the pro package, which has a variety of capabilities. I usually to use check cost of SQL for the most performance running in program.

Cons

One thing I don't like about DbVisualizer is that it tends to hang or crash when used with large databases or tables with huge amounts of data.

### "DbVisualizer: A Solid Choice for Database Management"

September 4, 2024

5.0

I work with DbVisualizer since 2013 and see how it is evolving over time: adding new databases, new features to databases or making UI nicer. Mostly I use SQL to analyze data and develop tables/views/procedures in different databases.

Pros

It has a nice user interface, support many different databases (just add jdbc). Makes a life of DB developer or analyst much easier.

Cons

It can be demanding on system resources (memory), especially when working constantly on large datasets - I mean keeping lots of data tabs open. And it's written in Java, so all that heap/memory usage topics.

Alternatives considered

[DBeaver](https://www.capterra.com/p/210182/DBeaver/)

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

More robust and feature-reach product comparing to DBeaver.

### "Great product and improving every day!"

September 9, 2024

5.0

It's been seamless in connecting to different data sources.

Pros

One of the best options with DbV is the Query Builder. Being able to build queries through this tool helped me to visualize and understand syntax, table joins, and many other features. I was a beginner when I started but now I am not only able to write queries with out the query builder, I also have a better understanding of how to use a db to maximize the data analysis. This is one tool that I open first thing in the morning and use it all day.

Cons

Everything is really solid but offering more built-in connectors would be nice.

### "Tumbs up for DbVisualizer"

September 4, 2024

5.0

Overall, the combination of ease of use, extensive features, and broad compatibility makes DbVisualizer a strong tool for database management.

Pros

What I appreciate most about DbVisualizer is its user-friendly interface coupled with powerful features that cater to both novice and advanced users.

Cons

Unlike some modern database tools, DbVisualizer doesn’t have built-in collaboration features. For teams working on the same database or queries, collaboration typically has to be managed outside of the tool. While DbVisualizer generally performs well, it can become sluggish when working with extremely large databases or datasets.

### "Great tool for browsing databases"

September 4, 2024

5.0

We were using the free version of this tool since many years: there was enough functionnalities for developer purpose. I tried the PRO version and it is really a gain of time for inserting/updating/deleting datas. I recommend this tool for his lower price and lot of functionnality comparing to othe 'big' one.

Pros

The most usefull functionnality for me is the simplicity of the interface and the number of various database I can set up like Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase.

Cons

In the free version, the scripts we can generate to insert/update/delete data is not always working correctly. In a Citrix environment maybe use too many RAM even for small queries.

### "Great Experience with DbVisualizer"

September 4, 2024

5.0

Our company is having a great experience working on it. Ease to learn, train new team members.

Pros

The ease with the pro-edition for update and inserting industry size data.

Cons

### "Great to use"

September 4, 2024

4.0

Great for exploring tables within databases. Very easy to create a connection to a database, and it is more or less intuitive to use.

Pros

For viewing tables in a database -- very helpful!

Cons

My only con about is that I use SAS for data management activities, and it is easier to use SAS/ACCESS instead of querying the database via DBVisualizer, then importing that output into SAS.

### "DBVis for Analysts"

February 16, 2022

4.0

I've had a great experience using this product. We continue to use it, even after 4 years.

Pros

I think the software is very easy to install and get going quickly. I helped choose the product for my team and picked it over many others, even the free ones! It works great for querying and updating data.

Cons

The free version is good but lacks a ton of power. You have to upgrade to the pro version to get most of the functionality that an analyst team needs.

### "One of my "Must Have" Tools"

September 21, 2020

5.0

Pros

I've been using DBVis for about as long as it's been around. I recall using it back around 1999. This product has continued to evolve and improve, which is why I continue to subscribe to annual updates. The greatest benefit I've gotten from the app is a single platform providing access to any data source having a JDBC driver (which is probably near all of them) and that exposes those differing systems in a common and consistent way. There is absolutely no noticeable lag or buffering or constant cache updates like I see with another product.

Cons

Prior to about 2017 I'd have very little to say here. Around that time I began using a programming editor, JetBrains IntelliJ Ultimate. Part of that software is their full DataGrip application. Somehow, they've got the edge when it comes to code completion and object introspection. The responsiveness within the UI is so much quicker and smoother than when I enable auto-completion in DbVis.

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

I use both DbVis and IntelliJ DataGrip (bundled with their editor). For it's integration with editor and object introspection, DG is preferred. For an overall more responsive and flexible experience, I use DbVis.

### "Best SQL Workbench tool that you'll find"

August 27, 2021

5.0

I do a lot of experimentation using DbVisualizer. It allows me to easily modify database schema, load new 'experimental' datasets, and then run queries against them. (Hence, if I had Python scripting in DbVisualizer, I could do everything in there and I would only ever use DbVisualizer).

Pros

It's easy to connect to databases, easy to manage and query them, it's simply a fantastic tool for anyone who frequently interacts with databases. I use it in preference to the database vendor's own tools - I use one tool to rule them all :^).

Cons

I haven't come across any yet. But...if I had a wish list feature that I could add to DbVisualizer, it would be support for something like Python scripting within DbVisualizer itself. That would give me the perfect tool.

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

I found DbVisualizer much easier to use than any of these alternatives. It was more intuitive and the database driver and database connection wizards make it easy to connect to any database that I need to use.
