  • Overall, I rate GitBook the best web-based platform for it's functionalities.i recommend users to download this Software and thank me later.

  • The templates are so nice to learn and experiment. The editor UI is nice and clean , easy to modify loved it.

  • They are happy because it is simple and they can access a lot of information, I am happy because people can consult information without having to send emails with repetitive questions.

Cons

  • It is difficult to manage and find uploaded media files.

  • GitBook erases the stress of software documentation.

  • Sometimes we encounter the errors with merging multiple documentation versions from multiple owners, which lead to lost of some data, the merging was not too intuitive.

  • Lack of documentation, overcomplicated to use, Less reach in companies.

"Best knowledgebase/documentation tool for small teams"

Overall: Overall the experience was good and because of that we were able to add more content to our documentation. Before Gitbook our documentation was limited and very hard to find.

Pros: It is really easy to get started with and best part is that it supports Markdown. Writing documentation in Markdown is way easier and Gitbook makes it easy to organise the content. They support custom domains which is another nice thing about the product, it is really good for branding.

Cons: There are no cons as such but there were few issues while getting started, while importing the existing documentation for the first time.

Reasons for Switching to GitBook: Github Wiki has its limitations, it is not Github's primary use case and that is why there are many features missing.

"GitBook erases the stress of software documentation"

Overall: My experience has been great. I was afraid of not being able to handle the documentation and tutorializing of my companies software but GitBook made it achievable.

Pros: The ease in using GitBook for building software documentation in a presentable way to the end user is great. The features are both complete and simple to use.

Cons: GitBook media storage isn't great. It is difficult to manage and find uploaded media files.

"Overcomplicated tool, difficult for beginners"

Pros: They have some inbuilt shortcuts which are quite handy to use. They also support trial version which not many tools offer. Their multiple draft functionality I havent seen in many tools

Cons: Lack of documentation, overcomplicated to use, Less reach in companies

"Gitbook review"

Overall: Gitbook help us to speed up writing the documentation and engage more team members, which was really an improvement in our technical writing. our experience is very possitive

Pros: Gitbook gives us really easy option how to iteratively develop the documentation in the wider team without constant document passing from one way to another.

Cons: Sometimes we encounter the errors with merging multiple documentation versions from multiple owners, which lead to lost of some data, the merging was not too intuitive. We reached the helpdesk which helped us to successfully resolve.
