We intend to continue using it for new sites and as we grow comfortable with it we intend to rebuild our existing sites on Gatsby because of how much we've enjoyed it. Pros Our first experience with the React ecosystem was through Gatsby, and it made life much easier. The framework was easy to work with for web developers without experience in React. For what we couldnt figure out ourselves we found answers in Gatsby's extensive documentation. When it came time to deploy we were easily able to do so to Gatsby's hosting using GitHub. Cons There are some quirks that exist within Gatsby like state management, but this is more of a React issue than a Gatsby issue. We have used it or a 3-year grant funded project and have used it for two additional projects already. We plan to use it extensively in the future due to it's great ability to separate and source content from presentation. Pros Gatsby's source plugin infrastructure is simply amazing. We have been able to develop complex sites with mock data sources as simple json or markdown files before transitioning the backend source system to a large dynamic database that is created through the normalization of multiple datasources. SEO enhancement is practically automatic compared to the loops we had to jump through for SPAs. Cons Understanding which code is precompiled and which is executed in the browser takes some getting used to. Certain approaches from a client-side only SPA need to be modified and this can be a bit annoying when dealing with Gatsby. Usage of globals such as "window" are easy to avoid in our own code, but in npm modules sourced from the community it can be difficult to work around in some very specific cases.
