### "SpotOn and Great Customer Service"

May 16, 2025

5.0

It's been great. I recently had an issue that Client Success Partner \[sensitive content hidden\] helped me out with and exceeded my expectations! She helped me resolve a transition issue from my old POS and allowed us to close the book on it completely. Very much appreciated!

Pros

The user interface is ahead of the game when it comes to other POS's. Also, the tech and application support is top notch. It took a bit of getting used to, but once we did, it was a huge improvement over our old system. That and the online ordering capabilities as well as the Doordash Direct functionality make it a win win for us.

Cons

It took a bit of getting used to once we implemented. I'm not sure if it's the fact that we were with our old system for many years prior and we were used to it, but relearning was the hardest part.

Updating the system was required. We had multiple systems in place that were disconnected from each other. From Loyalty to multiple third parties are now integrated under one house that make it so much easier to use on a daily basis.

### "SpotOn its Amazing!!!"

August 22, 2025

5.0

My overall experience with Spoton has been exceptional. The platform is powerful, intuitive, and tailored to meet the unique needs of complex businesses. With expert support from \[sensitive content hidden\], I always feel confident navigating their tools and growing my business.

Pros

Spoton is a top-tier payment processing and digital marketing company that truly understands the needs of modern businesses. Their platform handles complex menu modifiers seamlessly, making it perfect for restaurants with intricate setups. The customizable reports provide deep insights to drive smarter decisions. Their email marketing and loyalty programs are easy to use and highly effective. Online ordering with built-in discounts adds tremendous value. What really sets Spoton apart is their outstanding customer service—especially from \[sensitive content hidden\], whose expertise and support are second to none. Highly recommended for businesses seeking a powerful, all-in-one solution.

Cons

One area where Spoton could improve is communication with their development team—feature requests or technical issues sometimes take longer than expected to be addressed. Additionally, the offline mode for taking transactions isn't as seamless as it could be, which can be a challenge during internet outages. These issues don’t outweigh the platform’s strengths, but they’re worth noting for businesses with high-volume, always-on operations.

### "Ok POS, terrible developer experience - 26 days and still no API key"

April 14, 2026

2.0

SpotOn is a fine POS for in-store transactions. The product works. But the developer experience is nonexistent. We are building online ordering for a coffee shop that opens this week. The POS is installed, the website is live, the API spec is written. SpotOn is the only bottleneck. There is no escalation path, no public developer email that works (partner-support@ bounces), and no visibility into where your request sits in their pipeline.

Pros

In-store POS works well. Card processing is reliable. The hardware is solid. Reporting dashboard is decent for a restaurant operation.

Cons

API access process is broken. 26 days from first request to receiving a Google Form — not credentials, a form. No self-serve developer portal. No sandbox. No timeline given at any step. Stripe gives you keys in 30 seconds. Square gives you a sandbox in 2 minutes. SpotOn makes you email three people, wait through OOO auto-replies, and fill out an intake form just to start the approval process. If your business depends on a custom integration, budget a month of waiting.

### "SPOT ON is the WORST POS SYSTEM"

March 25, 2026

1.0

We purchased the spot on POS system about a two months ago for our restaurant. It has been a total disaster to say the least. The problems started almost immediately when they missed the installation date that we both agreed to. When they did finally install, their technician was an unprofessional buffoon. Upon arrival he disconnected our AV system and our back office system that was supposed to remain running until we could transfer over our gift cards. After unplugging everything, he then determined our wiring wasn’t sufficient for the new system. Mind you this is a few hours before we need to open for the day. Once he finally figured out the wiring was fine, he installed the system. 4 terminals and 8 handhelds along with several printers. Once the system was turned on, we noticed there were many missing items, buttons, categories, etc. all of which had been worked on and discussed in several zoom programming meetings. Now the fun starts. Prices are wrong, discounts are added instead of subtracted, gratuity can’t be added, printers malfunction, systems lose connectivity to the internet, handhelds don’t work, back up cell service fails, tickets won’t print to the kitchen, the list continues. The next day brought a fresh new set of challenges, including categories disappearing and previous day programming corrections being erased. As I sit here a month after system start up, problems still persist. All I can do is warn anyone thinking about purchasing this system regrets. We are still having problems with the system, accurate reporting, credit card processing and their ability to fix many of the problems with the system.

Pros

I originally purchased this system to replace my existing system. I wanted the cloud based system that wouldn’t fail during power outages and the handhelds were also a bonus.

Cons

It’s really hard to come up with a least favorite when there are so many issues that have gone wrong. I guess I would have to say Spot On’s inability to fix the problems is the biggest problem we have currently

Overall I would say average except for Customer Service. It is great. Terminals don't hold cellular as well as handhelds.

### "Big liable problem with taxes and sales tax"

November 22, 2025

1.0

Horrible . for accountting. Need to go to 10 different widow for report. Sales tax is not properly counted. Found myself liable with big sales tax amount. They didn't have an answer for that. they they said next month it will be adjusted which it didn't .Also if a ticket still open at closing .it automatically close the ticket but as Item sold. So you pay tax on it even if you didn't received the money . They told me that I have to adjust it in my general ledger. but the 1099E will be showing a big difference since it's not corrected on their end.

Pros

Not much . beside I regret to change. They told me that it's exactly the same than toast but the Credit card fee a lot cheaper

Cons

Credit card Refund processed is not friendly . And Can not make a cash refund next day . Need to make a paid out to refund the customer. So it's not really accouting friendly since paid out is not made for that.So you pay tax on the sale, and Sales tax is not properly deducted.

### "Do not buy this POS"

September 27, 2025

1.0

This is the absolute worst POS system I have used in my 20+ years in the industry. I have been working with this system for almost five years now and it is absolutely terrible. You create a tab for a customer and it just completely disappears sometimes! I've had $300 bar tabs completely disappear and then have to try and remember everything the guest ordered to re-ring it. We have lost so much money using this system. Our equipment finally got replaced after our old terminals were crashing daily. We built a new restaurant and made the mistake of sticking with Spoton. Their Website team takes months to make the simplest changes. I bought my system from a third party so I can't even go through Spoton's customer service. The whole deal is sketchy and a huge inconvenience. The handhelds can't even reach my patio tables even though we are well within the required sq footage.

Pros

Nothing. It is terrible. There is not one good thing about this system. Customer service is clueless and rude.

Cons

The constant computer crashes, lost tickets, not for high volume restaurants. System doesn't allow even the most basic functions of a POS. Ten steps to do anything. It took me months to get my menu properly imported into their system and I am still having to call them daily because something changed in the settings and now everything's ringing in wrong. Servers hate it. Bar hates it.

### "A Restaurant‑Focused All‑in‑One Platform"

April 27, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with SpotOn was positive and well‑rounded, particularly for restaurant‑focused operations. The platform stands out for its all‑in‑one approach, combining POS, online ordering, marketing, and reporting into a single system that supports day‑to‑day efficiency. I found the interface intuitive for staff, and the restaurant‑specific tools helped streamline operations while providing useful insights into sales and customer behavior. That said, some aspects of the platform felt less flexible when it came to customization and advanced reporting. Certain configurations required additional steps or support, which could slow down implementation for more complex needs. Despite this, SpotOn remains a strong, restaurant‑centric solution that delivers solid functionality and value, especially for businesses looking for an integrated system designed with operators in mind.

Pros

What I liked most about SpotOn was its all‑in‑one approach tailored specifically for restaurants. The platform combines POS, online ordering, reservations, marketing, and reporting in a way that feels cohesive and practical for day‑to‑day operations. I especially appreciated how intuitive the system is for staff and how it provides useful insights to help operators better understand sales performance and customer behavior. The restaurant‑first focus made it feel purpose‑built rather than generic.

Cons

What I liked least about SpotOn was that some areas of the platform felt less flexible and more rigid to customize, particularly when tailoring workflows or reports to specific business needs. While the system is generally intuitive, certain features required additional steps or support to configure properly. There were also occasional limitations in reporting depth, which made deeper analysis more challenging for more complex operational needs.

### "SpotOn misled me while I had a decent service for a few months with what was then transparent pricing. "

August 26, 2024

1.0

SpotOn advertised to me stellar rates, low fees, and a free machine, so I signed up to process cards with my business. Everything went well for a few months until I looked at my bank statement and saw that they started charging me more for the same program. Nothing changed on my end and my revenue stayed consistent. It took me a while to get in touch with someone to discuss and eventually cancel. They did not make me pay any penalties but nobody could provide me a valid reason as to why I had to pay more every single month without mention. I cancelled. Bad end experience overall.

Pros

SpotOn does provide a competitive price for CC processing and POS systems included. They advocate cash discount pricing to eliminate credit card fees. They have multiple support lines. Month to month agreement no penalties for exiting.

Cons

SpotOn increased my monthly fee rate without telling me. I had a $25/month POS system usage fee with a free Pax A920 Pro to use. Over time without mention, it went to $40 and then $50. I could not have anybody explain to me what happened. Not a fan of misleading pricing and undercuts. I cancelled.

### "Wish I would've looked at reviews"

July 14, 2023

2.0

I have had nothing but issues from the very moment I agreed to sign up. I was sold hard on the program as it was hard for me to make the change, and once I signed up- it was nothing but issues. At one point I just went back to my original Point of Sale and continued just making my monthly payments on the SpotOn program still trying to get my funds refunded back to me. One of the managers actually had the audacity to negotiate my refund amount with me. Then told me my previous rep had called them and told them she didn't make a mistake and that I had signed up for splitting the transaction fee with my customer? WHAT.

Pros

I thought the ease of taking a credit card as payment would be beneficial to my business. A lot of Point of Sale systems charge a transaction fee for each transaction, so to me, it should help me make things flow smoother day to day.

Cons

What I like the very least about SpotOn is the amount of missing funds that I found when I looked into my account. I had to then go spend quite a bit of time double checking everything to make sure I was getting paid. That alone was the biggest deterrent. The application, and what I found out later was their only contract, which was unfortunate because our service representative signed us up for both fee options not one or the other. Our business had the option to pass along the fee to the customer or to split the fee with the customer. For some reason, we were signed up for both. We had some pages that were showing one way and others for another option. I trusted my rep to submit the application in completion and for some reason that did not happen. The odd thing was that a couple months into our contract, the fee was option was switched. They claimed it was changed because it was incorrect. No one informed us of this. The new fee was different from what I had intially signed up for. One rep on the phone looked up our contract online and also made the statement that it looked like we had signed up for both options. But how could that have made any sense? Were we getting charged for even more? I reached out to my rep about the fees coming out on our end as well as the customers and was told she would look into it. Never heard back. Months later when my funds got frozen, I reached out to her only to find out she was let go. No one told me, I just was left without help.

I thought it would be more cost effective. In turn, it actually cost me thousands and made me lose of my own free time outside of work trying to figure out what went wrong with no help.

Amazing, I would say start to finish, however the communication and support has not stopped and its incredible to talk with people that want to help and make the systems the best they can be for your needs.

Pros

The implementation process was amazing allowing you to use the software for your individual needs and operations, Software helps bring all your needs under one platform, from operations to accounting, Consumer to wensite.

Cons

I have to say there really is nothing I am not happy about as it relates to the software. Working with the SpotOn team allowed us to adjust reporting, accounting and formulate into our system.

I want to love spot n but I can't. I've probably work for them more than I do running my restaurant. Its so embarrassing.

Pros

The set up was easy, the system is user friendly.

Cons

If it works its great but the handhelds always have issues. I have 8 handhelds most weeks I'm down to 1-2 due to systems issues. Not taking payments. Emv issues. They take up hours of my day trying to troubleshoot and it still doesn't work. I've only been open for 5 months and I have had hundreds of tickets and calls regarding fixing the same issue. Yes they expect me to troubleshoot and fix and its only temporary. Within a few more days I have to do the same thing, spent hours on the phone for a temporary fix.

Pros

Knowledge of product and industry! This is our 2nd SpotOn POS, we’ve worked with \[sensitive content hidden\] in the past. That’s the reason we decided on SpotOn again.

### "From Install to Support Spoton has been Terrific"

August 27, 2021

5.0

Overall the experience has been incredibly positive, and I would highly recommend Spoton to any restauranteur. The exceptional bright spot for me has been the amazing help and guidance of \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\], she did our initial install and has been an absolute savior when it comes to quick support questions and programming. Spoton has a great employee and partner in \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\], I know that I personally appreciate everything she has done to make my experience with Spoton easy and amazing.

Pros

As you probably can tell by now, it is super easy to use and program. From the moment of install to the ongoing training and support, the team at SpotOn has been fantastic. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] did our install and has been a valuable asset to our team as ongoing Support as well.

Cons

There is not much that I don't like. It is super easy and intuitive. The only issue we have had was when the CC processor went down for 2.5 hours one night. But even then, the Spoton team kept us updated and informed and they cam back online before the close of day.

Pros

Eatery proprietors share a large number of similar battles in overseeing and developing their organizations. Issues, for example, continuous venture level announcing, administrative center updates quickly accessible on all stations, including their internet requesting website, controlling work cost, and finance revealing. Furthermore with the combination with outsider conveyance benefits, the expense reserve funds by disposing of client mistake is ending up an enormous element. SpotOn Café gives the instruments and assets that are important for free thinkers as well as multi-chain public brands

### "Spot on replaces Emagine POS "

August 21, 2023

3.0

1-10, id say 2

Pros

I think Spot on, since taking over Emagine POS, has gone down hill, You never know who you will be getting support from. The reporting does not seem accurate. Not happy with it at all. Would definately be looking in to another POS system if my father wasnt so dedicated to \[sensitive content hidden\] and \[sensitive content hidden\] who sold to Spot on (I think thats what happend). Sent us a computer that was "New" but was linked up with another company, so def not new. Trying to hook up a register drawer to our take out computer....yeah that doesnt work. Networks are all screwed up. Not easy to set up anything. Just simply not happy. Was better off with Emagine. But event with them towards the end. Would have looked into another POS system. Maybe you should send people out on the field to help people, that may not be computer literate, to get through issues. just saying.... not everyone knows a lot about setting up computers, etc. Send techs out to help, would make a big difference. Spot on, absolutely do not reccommend for small business owners. but yes, maybe you are good for the Lincoln Finaical Center in Philadelphia.

Cons

You could improve by sending out people to help small business owners understand the step up and features you offer, you pretty much make us figure things out on our own.... adding a new printer or register, good luck. Our takeout register wont hook up with spot on and open, like our bar register. Try talking to "\[sensitive content hidden\] " from where ever the hell he is located, no answers. cant figure things out. Send out technicians or send out reps to help and not over the phone. you literally get nowhere and throw in the towel and half ass work with what you can use.
