Overall, my experience with SpotOn was positive and well‑rounded, particularly for restaurant‑focused operations. The platform stands out for its all‑in‑one approach, combining POS, online ordering, marketing, and reporting into a single system that supports day‑to‑day efficiency. I found the interface intuitive for staff, and the restaurant‑specific tools helped streamline operations while providing useful insights into sales and customer behavior. That said, some aspects of the platform felt less flexible when it came to customization and advanced reporting. Certain configurations required additional steps or support, which could slow down implementation for more complex needs. Despite this, SpotOn remains a strong, restaurant‑centric solution that delivers solid functionality and value, especially for businesses looking for an integrated system designed with operators in mind.

Pros

What I liked most about SpotOn was its all‑in‑one approach tailored specifically for restaurants. The platform combines POS, online ordering, reservations, marketing, and reporting in a way that feels cohesive and practical for day‑to‑day operations. I especially appreciated how intuitive the system is for staff and how it provides useful insights to help operators better understand sales performance and customer behavior. The restaurant‑first focus made it feel purpose‑built rather than generic.

Cons

What I liked least about SpotOn was that some areas of the platform felt less flexible and more rigid to customize, particularly when tailoring workflows or reports to specific business needs. While the system is generally intuitive, certain features required additional steps or support to configure properly. There were also occasional limitations in reporting depth, which made deeper analysis more challenging for more complex operational needs.

Thank you for sharing your experience with SpotOn, Radha. We're glad to hear our all-in-one approach feels cohesive and that the intuitive interface is helping your staff streamline day-to-day operations. It's great to know our restaurant-first focus is providing you with useful insights, but we hear your feedback about certain areas feeling rigid to customize and the limitations you've experienced with reporting depth. We know you need flexible, deep analytical tools to run your business effectively. Your feedback is so valuable to us. Again, thank you for your kind words. Wishing you continued success!

SpotOn is a fine POS for in-store transactions. The product works. But the developer experience is nonexistent. We are building online ordering for a coffee shop that opens this week. The POS is installed, the website is live, the API spec is written. SpotOn is the only bottleneck. There is no escalation path, no public developer email that works (partner-support@ bounces), and no visibility into where your request sits in their pipeline.

Pros

In-store POS works well. Card processing is reliable. The hardware is solid. Reporting dashboard is decent for a restaurant operation.

Cons

API access process is broken. 26 days from first request to receiving a Google Form — not credentials, a form. No self-serve developer portal. No sandbox. No timeline given at any step. Stripe gives you keys in 30 seconds. Square gives you a sandbox in 2 minutes. SpotOn makes you email three people, wait through OOO auto-replies, and fill out an intake form just to start the approval process. If your business depends on a custom integration, budget a month of waiting.

Overall, my experience has been great with spoton since i have been assigned to an engineering team that has been doing an exceptional job at fixing minor issues.

Pros

Being assigned to an engineer who fully understood our menu structure and was fast in responding and fixing our issues.

Cons

They did not assign us to an engineering team sooner to assist with structural issues in our brand's menu.

We purchased the spot on POS system about a two months ago for our restaurant. It has been a total disaster to say the least. The problems started almost immediately when they missed the installation date that we both agreed to. When they did finally install, their technician was an unprofessional buffoon. Upon arrival he disconnected our AV system and our back office system that was supposed to remain running until we could transfer over our gift cards. After unplugging everything, he then determined our wiring wasn’t sufficient for the new system. Mind you this is a few hours before we need to open for the day. Once he finally figured out the wiring was fine, he installed the system. 4 terminals and 8 handhelds along with several printers. Once the system was turned on, we noticed there were many missing items, buttons, categories, etc. all of which had been worked on and discussed in several zoom programming meetings. Now the fun starts. Prices are wrong, discounts are added instead of subtracted, gratuity can’t be added, printers malfunction, systems lose connectivity to the internet, handhelds don’t work, back up cell service fails, tickets won’t print to the kitchen, the list continues. The next day brought a fresh new set of challenges, including categories disappearing and previous day programming corrections being erased. As I sit here a month after system start up, problems still persist. All I can do is warn anyone thinking about purchasing this system regrets. We are still having problems with the system, accurate reporting, credit card processing and their ability to fix many of the problems with the system.

Pros

I originally purchased this system to replace my existing system. I wanted the cloud based system that wouldn’t fail during power outages and the handhelds were also a bonus.

Cons

It’s really hard to come up with a least favorite when there are so many issues that have gone wrong. I guess I would have to say Spot On’s inability to fix the problems is the biggest problem we have currently

This QLaborate system didn’t have a cloud base option. It was also very old and starting to have major problems.

Reasons for choosing SpotOn

Salespeople, cost, promised options, promised customer service. Our salesperson said they previously worked for toast and listed many issues the toast system has with operation and customer service.

Too much problems with the company. Over sale the products. Different departments. Thanks to the help of \[sensitive content hidden\] , I found a resolution for the issues I have. Only good thing for now

Pros

The Online Orders and the opportunity to make delivery without pay a lot to Doordash. Good marketing tools

Cons

Bad communication and over sale product. The installation is complicated and take too long to get the menu. Need better explanation about the percent and cost of services. Too many departments to resolve issues.

Overall I would say average except for Customer Service. It is great. Terminals don't hold cellular as well as handhelds.

Pros

Customer Service from \[sensitive content hidden\] and Sales Representative \[sensitive content hidden\]. Cellular backup works well on handhelds.

Cons

Reports, Contest setup poor, Enterprise Reporting, flexibility of moving certain items on ticket command screens, handheld connectivity issues

Horrible . for accountting. Need to go to 10 different widow for report. Sales tax is not properly counted. Found myself liable with big sales tax amount. They didn't have an answer for that. they they said next month it will be adjusted which it didn't .Also if a ticket still open at closing .it automatically close the ticket but as Item sold. So you pay tax on it even if you didn't received the money . They told me that I have to adjust it in my general ledger. but the 1099E will be showing a big difference since it's not corrected on their end.

Pros

Not much . beside I regret to change. They told me that it's exactly the same than toast but the Credit card fee a lot cheaper

Cons

Credit card Refund processed is not friendly . And Can not make a cash refund next day . Need to make a paid out to refund the customer. So it's not really accouting friendly since paid out is not made for that.So you pay tax on the sale, and Sales tax is not properly deducted.

This is the absolute worst POS system I have used in my 20+ years in the industry. I have been working with this system for almost five years now and it is absolutely terrible. You create a tab for a customer and it just completely disappears sometimes! I've had $300 bar tabs completely disappear and then have to try and remember everything the guest ordered to re-ring it. We have lost so much money using this system. Our equipment finally got replaced after our old terminals were crashing daily. We built a new restaurant and made the mistake of sticking with Spoton. Their Website team takes months to make the simplest changes. I bought my system from a third party so I can't even go through Spoton's customer service. The whole deal is sketchy and a huge inconvenience. The handhelds can't even reach my patio tables even though we are well within the required sq footage.

Pros

Nothing. It is terrible. There is not one good thing about this system. Customer service is clueless and rude.

Cons

The constant computer crashes, lost tickets, not for high volume restaurants. System doesn't allow even the most basic functions of a POS. Ten steps to do anything. It took me months to get my menu properly imported into their system and I am still having to call them daily because something changed in the settings and now everything's ringing in wrong. Servers hate it. Bar hates it.

SpotOn helps our restaurants run more efficiantly. \[sensitive content hidden\] is one of the most helpful person working at SpotOn.

Cons

Sometimes it's hard to get customer service on the weekend. If our system goes down it is hard to get someone that knows how to fix the problem.
