"Flexible automation tool, but takes time to learn"

**Overall:** I like the idea that some of my repetitive work can be automated, so I try to spend 1–2 hours a week learning n8n and testing workflows. I am still early in the process, and it is not moving as fast as I hoped, but I can see why the tool is valuable. The self-hosted option is especially interesting to me because it gives more control, but it also means I need time to understand the setup and logic properly.

**Pros:** I like that n8n can be self-hosted. I am still learning it, but it already feels useful for connecting tools and building workflows without depending only on closed SaaS automation platforms.

**Cons:** I am not a technical user, so n8n takes time for me to understand. Connecting a Google Sheet took me about an hour. I expected it to take 5–10 minutes, like most simple Google integrations, but I missed some part of the logic and could not get the connection to work. We also connected ChatGPT to n8n, but I expected that setup to remove more of the technical work, and it did not work as I hoped.

"Flexible automation, overall very satisifed"

**Overall:** Very easy to use as I am quite familiar with Javascript, self-hosted multiple automations with OpenAI integrations, Sheets, etc.. Very satisfied overall.

**Pros:** Very easy and cheap to setup, plus you only have to pay for the API usage. Plus is very flexible and has the ability to self-host.

**Cons:** The learning curve is very steep for beginners, especially if they don't have prior knowledge of APIs or Java and so on.

**Reasons for Switching to n8n.io:** N8n is much cheaper, plus has self-hosting and more data control.
