I love the multi-lingual options too, and use these for localising content. Cons A frequent complaint from my clients is that we can't control the cadence of speech in Synthesia. Our video turn around times from script to final output has drastically increased after we've starting using synthesia and our dependency on product folks for creating technical videos and demos also has greatly reduced. October 30, 2024 5.0 I was asked to use Synthesia by a client as part of an educational project we were working on. I had not previously heard of the platform, and was a bit skeptical as previous AI platforms I have used just look and sound "fake". I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The interface is very well laid out and easy to use. There are a wide variety of avatars that both look and sound natural. I was able to get through my workload easily and quickly - although some of the picture suggestions were a bit wide of the mark, and quite a bit of manual editing was necessary. Nevertheless, my overall experience was good, and I am sure the platform will improve as time goes by. I will definitely be using Synthesia again. Pros Very simple and easy to use. The interface is quite straightforward, and there are a good variety of avatars. Cons Some of the picture suggestions are not very accurate - in one video I made the Ottoman Empire was represented by a photo of a footstool! They would not refund me even after it became clear in 2 hours that the service was not what was promised. Pros I did not like Synthesia, I found the quality lacking and the AI features not robust enough to actually deliver either 1. a good quality script 2. a good quality video layout 3. convincing video Cons Everything looks like boxy AI without tone or inflection in the voices. I did not like that at all. I tried it for 2 - 3 hours and then I asked for a refund and they refused citing their terms of service. This was not disclosed when signing up. Cons Since I signed up, I’ve consistently requested the ability to render individual slides instead of the entire project at once. Having the option to work with multiple slides within a single project and render specific parts as needed would greatly enhance my workflow. Currently, we often resort to using external video editors to compile the final video, such as adding background music or inserting effects between existing clips—features that Synthesia doesn’t support at the moment. Das ist eine enorme Zeitersparnis, wenn man zwischen drin Coaching-Videos aufnehmen möchte. Cons Das man sich im Vorfeld nicht anschauen kann, wie das fertig Video aussieht. Man kann den Avatren ja verschiedene Sachen zuordnen, wie z.B. die Augenbrauen hochziehen, um eine Textpassage zu betonen. Das würde ich mir halt gerne vorher mal anschauen, bevor ich Videominuten abgeben muss. Now with the new personal avatars, even I am shocked seeing myself and my collegues create videos in a way that is pretty much 100% real! Cons Can be a little slow in creating the videos and in particulat creating personal avatars. It has been good Pros In the beginning it was very easy to use and navigate around the app. Cons Probably when you provide your updates the explanation are either a video or a bot. In order to speak with a person you have to explain to the bot and if you are worthy you can speak to a person. That process is very time consuming and frustrating . I realize i am not your typical market an old guy who was a round when computers were as large as a building and your phone was attached to o that building. You cannot go wrong with human contact. It got the job done but was not perfect and still leaves room for improvement Pros ease of use and cost savings. Much quicker and easier to use than hiring a production company and hiring actors. Some of the tools for working with graphics, text, and animation need more work. I don't know much about the licensing but from what I have seen I think it needs to be on a per usage basis and not just to a set of users. Pros I like the ability to have another method of training. I can make a video to train people on processes and they can access the training at any time. Creating the video with the aid of AI improves my in-person training. As part of a global company, the biggest thing I like is the ability to translate the training to several languages. I have translated my videos from English to French, Spanish, and Japanese. The feedback from everyone that has review training said the translation was excellent. Cons I was really disappointed in the ability of Synthesia to transfer my PowerPoints. The whole transfer came in as a background image. I had to completely redo my whole presentation, especially if I wanted to translate the graphics to another language.
