I've used this tool for a year and seen the continual improved transformation of its capabilities. Pros Ability to select various Avatar's. Ease of use and option to edit script text per scene. PowerPoint like features at a higher level with more versatility. Cons I wish it was just like PowerPoint to be able to take and existing deck and edit and move around graphic and add an Avatar with a script. It allows me to have my ideas put into a picture, and with the ample avatars and voices, I can create lessons with "different" teachers. However, since I struggled with the mentioned difficulties and video creation sometimes took an unbelievably long time, I also looked into other products. I came across the software HeyGen, which is comparable to Synthesia but much faster in video creation, and there were never any issues with the content of 'weather report' videos. The pricing for both programs is similar, but with HeyGen, I can create as many video sequences as I want, with a maximum duration of 5 minutes. Pros What I liked the most was the possibility to create a personal avatar. Cons However, what I didn’t like at all was that I sometimes had to wait up to an hour for the video to be completed. Often it said 'just 1 minute left,' but it ended up taking almost an hour. Additionally, a few of my videos were blocked, even though I had only created a harmless weather report with my own avatar. When creating my avatar, it wasn’t clear that the outro also needed to be recorded as video and not just audio. Simply type in a script, choose a voice model, and Synthesia handles the rest - lip sync, gestures, facial expressions, everything. The end result looks very natural and human-like. This makes it super simple for anyone to generate professional video content. Cons The main downside is that Synthesia is still a relatively new product and has a few limitations. For example, there are limited options for syncing an avatar with your own (uploaded) voice. There are also limited options for customizing the virtual humans. So while it's fantastic for basic videos, Synthesia may not be robust enough for more complex, highly-produced video projects. But I'm sure it will continue improving over time. It has been good Pros In the beginning it was very easy to use and navigate around the app. Cons Probably when you provide your updates the explanation are either a video or a bot. In order to speak with a person you have to explain to the bot and if you are worthy you can speak to a person. That process is very time consuming and frustrating . I realize i am not your typical market an old guy who was a round when computers were as large as a building and your phone was attached to o that building. You cannot go wrong with human contact. October 30, 2024 5.0 I was asked to use Synthesia by a client as part of an educational project we were working on. I had not previously heard of the platform, and was a bit skeptical as previous AI platforms I have used just look and sound "fake". I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The interface is very well laid out and easy to use. There are a wide variety of avatars that both look and sound natural. I was able to get through my workload easily and quickly - although some of the picture suggestions were a bit wide of the mark, and quite a bit of manual editing was necessary. Nevertheless, my overall experience was good, and I am sure the platform will improve as time goes by. I will definitely be using Synthesia again. Pros Very simple and easy to use. The interface is quite straightforward, and there are a good variety of avatars. Cons Some of the picture suggestions are not very accurate - in one video I made the Ottoman Empire was represented by a photo of a footstool! Cons Since I signed up, I’ve consistently requested the ability to render individual slides instead of the entire project at once. Having the option to work with multiple slides within a single project and render specific parts as needed would greatly enhance my workflow. Pros We’re an EdTech company that focuses on providing high school students with great content that is easy to understand while also follows national curriculum. With a lot of content needed to be produced, we were having problems getting good content to our users fast. Synthesia’s software helped us scale content production, by cutting our time and finances threefold. With our own avatars we can keep the personal touch with our students while not compromising on the quality. All that while also producing content much faster. Some of the tools for working with graphics, text, and animation need more work. I don't know much about the licensing but from what I have seen I think it needs to be on a per usage basis and not just to a set of users. Pros I like the ability to have another method of training. I can make a video to train people on processes and they can access the training at any time. Creating the video with the aid of AI improves my in-person training. As part of a global company, the biggest thing I like is the ability to translate the training to several languages. I have translated my videos from English to French, Spanish, and Japanese. The feedback from everyone that has review training said the translation was excellent. Cons I was really disappointed in the ability of Synthesia to transfer my PowerPoints. The whole transfer came in as a background image. I had to completely redo my whole presentation, especially if I wanted to translate the graphics to another language. Review Source SC Sue C. Pros This tool is easy to use and allows the user to create professional productions cheaply and quickly. It integrates well with other tools, and I am able to pull in elements from other AI and creative tools. I am also able to use materials produced on Synthesia as components of productions created using other tools and platforms. For me, they most attractive feature is how it speeds up production time and lowers production costs. Need an edit? No problem. The whole process is smooth and quick. The AI narration voices include some very natural sounding voice options. The AI scriptwriting tool is great. It allows me to move outside of my normal "voice" as it comes up with creative ways to phrase ideas. I am a big fan of Synthesia! Cons The music options still need a bit of refining. I would like to be able to search by mood, tempo, or genre. I would also like the option to fade the music by a certain percentage at specific places in the scenes. I would like to be able to have the music automatically adjust around the speech, with a continuous track for the whole presentation. At the moment, I add music to the final production in using video editing software. Some of the AI avatars are a bit twitchy when you have a pause in the narration. Reason for choosing Synthesia Synthesia is one of my tools. I also use Articulate Storyline 360 and Adobe Creative Suite.
