Made some suggestions a few years ago - they were implemented almost immediately. They take our feedback seriously and try and make changes that make the system more user friendly. All of the staff are very helpful - from helpdesk to project managers. Have never had a bad customer experience - even when it was me who had caused the issue! Pros Software is loaded with many features that I use daily, such as identifying GW values that exceed regulatory limits. This eliminates human error. Custom reports are easy to write and use. Love the fact that contractors all over the country can log in and see and use the data. Cons Somewhat expensive for a small company like ours. Reasons for choosing Locus EIM Flexibility, usability, customized reports, validation module. Overall, a better product that anything else on the market - then or now! The transition to this system from our old one has improved the stability of the data and is making cross-training very easy for our team. The LOCUS EIM staff have been great to work with during the various development phases; they show good insight, demonstrate current knowledge, practice honesty and integrity, and are diligent. Pros The LOCUS EIM software could be customized to meet specific sampling requirements for the Environmental Radiation task; specifically, functions for 1) stack air sampling and 2) ambient air monitoring were established. EIM is able to generate a chain-of-custody to meet each sampling functions needs, check to assure data files are properly formatted, and store data in a retrievable manner for a demonstration of regulatory compliance during an inspection. Cons Staff users have noted that the software can be a little difficult to maneuver through and that it is not too forgiving if errors are entered into the system. I would have like to have had calculation routines already set up in the EIM software to run emissions calculations with the ability to store that information for reporting purposes; however, this is a function that we have been assured we can contract and havebuilt into our system. It offers the flexibility to handle field measurements and analytical data for a wide variety of sample types. EIM is powerful and full-featured. Pros Locus EIM does an excellent job of handling analytical laboratory data. The EDD Processing modules are robust and customizable. I like that the labs can load data directly into the holding table for my review and processing. The sophisticated Validation Module helps ensure adherence to our QA policies and makes my job easier. Once loaded, there are different ways to query the data and format the output including GIS maps, charts, and standard results tables that are easily exported. Cons It's easy enough to upload data, but make sure it's accurate because it's not so easy to make global changes. There are functions to change certain fields, and you can upload files to overwrite existing entries, but sometimes the best method is to go through the Help Desk. That said, the Help Desk is responsive in fulfilling these requests.
