Veterinarian Veterinary Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Using Talkatoo for daily dictation" March 22, 2021 4.0 Great - I honestly wouldn't have splurged on a dictation device before, as I'm not a radiologist reading out reports. That said, it converted me for routine emails and blogs. The speed with which I can dictate an email is much faster, and now typing out a long email without Talkatoo seems tedious. Pros I recently got to try out Talkatoo, and was generally pleased with how easy it was to install and use. While I know this is directed for veterinary professionals when it comes to helping with completion of electronic medical records, I honestly don't use it for this. Most of our EMR are so templated, I didn't find myself using it for that as much as for client communication documentation and discharges. That said, I use Talkatoo WAY more for day-to-day emails and for articles, blogs, book chapters, etc. I like how you can add "MY WORDS" to make the software recognize particular wording. Cons I had some initial IT problems when I installed the Philips Precision Microphone with my sound on my iMac (for input and output), especially when I was using my Airpods, Blue Yeti mic, but was able to resolve this with their great customer support. A lot of editing post note creation, however, love ease of access and creation of notes for us Pros I did my the setup and the ease of access. Being able to have talkative make my soap a lot easier was nice as well as the fact is it creates less work for my technicians to actually input that information. Talkatoo has an excellent support staff to help us with any technical questions or issues that may arise. Pros It is nice to be able fill out the patient record immediately after the appointment with just a few minutes of transcribing to the App. The notes are stored in the inbox until we have time to input them. Then, it only takes a few seconds for the staff or myself to proofread and insert into our practice software. It is helping us stay current with our written patient records. It is also nice that the custom templates can be as detailed and as long as needed to meet our needs. I also really like the "Call Summary" for our patient communications... that is a huge time saver. Cons There was a bit of a learning curve for us. I didn't really know what to expect. We have a strictly equine practice, so we had to make multiple custom templates to meet our needs, but the Talkatoo support staff was very eager to help with that. Review Source DR Debbie R. Sometimes you don’t really know what to ask specifically and he goes over so many things that are helpful. Pros Talkatoo saves me so much time but also improves the quality of my medical records. Nothing gets left out and not having to rely on my recall is gold! There are many features beyond that which improve my records and patient care like medical summaries. Sometimes I am busy enough with my appointments that I don't always get to use it during or between as much as I would like, but even if I end up doing a lot of my notes after hours, it speeds the process. Cons Sometimes it seems to have trouble learning or spelling some of the words that I use-typically drug names or uncommon conditions. The company is constantly improving their product, so something that didn't work so well previously gets updated and works better very quickly. Pros It is a real time saver, capturing the entirely of the exam and not relying on my memory of what all was discussed with the client/recommendations/etc. Cons Right now, the multipet note is not quite where I would want it - it doesn't produce a full SOAP for each patient. Pros This product has changed my record keeping life. My records are more complete and thorough then they ever have been before and I am spending less time writing them. My favorite aspect is having them recorded to use as a refresher even if writing them a day or 2 in the future I can look at the transcripts in order to key my memory as to what happened. It saves so much time and increases the quality of medical records which makes rechecks, transferring cases, and referrals so much better and simpler. I do not think I could go back to not having it, it has completely spoiled me now. I love the various formats and options, the equine soap also does such a good job for large animal cases. Pros It makes me so much more efficient in clinic. The notes are well summarized and well written, usually better than I could write myself. Cons It often does not use proper medical terminology for things and instead uses the lay-person terms. For example it will write " ear infection" instead of otitis externa.
