They're always improving the technology & have been useful. Pros The technology runs seamlessly overall. It helps improve my efficiency greatly on a daily basis. I utilize it for callbacks, emails, summaries, SOAP notes, & create your own prompt; for example, "Please summarize the following dental radiograph findings into a bulleted list". This has helped me so much with efficiency going from a 3.5 doctor practice to a 1.5 doctor practice with some relief vets. Cons N/A. They're always innovating & open to feedback with improvements. You don't want it...you need it." May 13, 2025 5.0 When Dragon stopped supporting “Microsoft Word for Mac,” Talkatoo saved my career. I am a physician, not a veterinarian for whom the program was initially developed. But trust me, it makes no difference what kind of work you do. If you use a Mac and need voice-to-transcription software, go with Talkatoo. I cannot recommend them too highly. The company itself, its developers, and tech support are the best in the industry and the most accessible you will ever find. Pros In my work as a physician, the accuracy rate is impressive. Even technical words come out right. And if I need a word or phrase that's out of the ordinary, I add it to my dictionary and suddenly its recognized about ninety-eight percent of the time. Cons I initially had some problems with punctuation. Every time I dictated the word "colon" as it referred to a portion of the intestinal system, a punctuation mark - : - showed up. Talkatoo took care of the problem. Getting dates properly transcribed took a little learning on my part. But, as usual, that's been handled too. Customer support has also been very responsive and helpful whenever we have had questions. Overall, it provides excellent value for the cost. Cons There can occasionally be minor corrections needed, as with any voice recognition software, but overall accuracy has been very strong and continues to improve with use. Cons It can be difficult to set up custom templates, though that is continually improving. One of our doctor's is very particular, and it has been difficult to get that just right. Starting with the initial onboarding, \[sensitive content hidden\] was wonderful. He explained the technology well, gave many examples on how to best use it, and provided an overview to help me figure out how to implement it in my clinic. It has been exciting to integrate this technology into my work, and I have been able to interact with \[sensitive content hidden\] to ask questions. He has guided me in better utilizing the technology. Over the past 6 months, it has been fun to see this technology grow. I have noticed continuous improvements. The coolest aspect is how the company interacts with veterinarians and responds to our feedback. We are given a chance to make suggestions, and the company listens to us. This responsiveness is tremendous for improving the technology. I have also enjoyed observing how the company addresses any problems that arise. Some of the newer features have been very ingenious, specifically the phone app, which pleasantly surprised me. Overall, this technology has allowed me to do things I never thought possible and has given me more time and options to be a better veterinarian. Pros The great part about Talkatoo is that it provides tools you can tailor to the way you practice. I have really enjoyed learning how to use these tools to best serve my needs. As I am not a typist, I appreciate not having to write anything. I love that I can make notes in the file during my physical exams without typing on a computer. To me, the physical exam is the most important part of our job. It has always annoyed me when I go to my doctor and they just type on their computer, asking questions impersonally. When I decided to go paperless and adopt scribe technology, I specifically committed to not typing on a computer while talking to my patients because that's not me. I am a hands-on vet and do not believe in typing on a computer in the exam room. The biggest problem with my practice is that I am very busy and don't have the time to type up all my notes after the exam. This is where Talkatoo excels. It summarizes my findings, captures important history questions, and filters out superfluous fluff when I'm talking to owners. It hands down does better notes than I did prior to using Talkatoo. My staff laughs how much more information is included in the notes. I just laugh and tell them, I am a minimalist when it comes to my notes. The assistant part of Talkatoo also provides great options. My favorite use is for responding to client emails. I find it tremendous because I don't have to sit and type responses on my computer. I can respond to clients while walking my dog, playing with my dogs, or waiting for my kids to finish at the gym. This flexibility makes me a more accessible veterinarian and enables me to interact more with my clients. It also allows me to use my downtime more productively towards my patients and clients. The coolest feature you have released, which I never expected but find very useful, is the call logging feature. I was thrilled with how it summarizes phone calls. It's ingenious because it not only summarizes calls but shows the number as calling from the hospital, not my cell phone number. That feature is essential, ensuring I use it frequently. Overall, I know this is a long response, but you asked for my opinion. Cons When starting to use Talk A 2, what I like least is the initial learning curve. Whenever I start using something new, I always feel a bit intimidated. However, having many options provides a great deal of ways to apply it to my practice. It did require some time to figure out how best to optimize it for my specific needs and the information I want to record. At first, the AI took some time to understand where things should go and occasionally missed some details, but over time, this has improved significantly. Initially, there were issues with how things were recorded into exam forms, but these were eventually resolved. Overall, there are not many bothersome aspects, and I don't have much to complain about. It's important to recognize that nothing is perfect and things will evolve. It is clearly still an evolving software which is a good thing. We find they are continuously implementing feedback from us as users and the product continues to get better and better Pros The call summary is hugely helpful. Just being able to call and speak to a client for 10 minutes and then throw that right into my medical record in a summarized format is phenomenal. The company is very responsive to feedback and continues to implement changes and improvements basically every week. Cons It is still a little bit dumb sometimes in the way that it puts simple client communications like "eyes look great" into the medical record.
