" November 24, 2021 5.0 Pros Ftrack is very powerful and highly customizable which makes it an amazing tool for project management. What stood out for me is the fact that you can either see all of your project in 1 view or select which projet(s) you want to see and manage. Additionally, their reviewing tool, for both images and motion, is very efficient. It was built for collaboration in mind and you can tell! Cons Because of it's customization capabilities, there's a bit of a learning curve to learn your way around the software. Additionally, the notification center could be improved. While it works and do the job fine, it's not as fluid as other internal communication tool that I'm using. A desktop app would be an amazing addition. Review Source JK John K. Cons The UI wasn't user friendly at first, this took some time. Documentation could be more elaborated as well, sometimes it's too simplistic or doesn't cover everything. A separate area of our business liked the old on-prem installation more than the current but that may be because of company policies and our own limitations. " October 26, 2021 4.0 Pros Good resource visibility and tasks overview. Like that a lot is customisable and can be adjusted to different needs. Good interface. Cons Hard to navigate sometimes with too many clicks. Wish a lot more fields and areas could be customisable or at least easier to customise by anyone, rather than only an IPA developer. Review system, particularly the client one to be more user friendly (look out for Proof HQ). Wish that Asset Builds could be managed in a centralised system outside of each individual projects and then linked to individual projects. Client Facing Project plans, with clear actions for clients. Reason for choosing ftrack I think an alternative option would have been to create our own system/platform. I think it would be great to incorporate finance and admin aspects in the future. Quotes, rate cards, link these to project budgets. Manage POs, Invoices and Payments. Extremely happy with the service and the product. Pros Its ease of use... being able to schedule, track and review all projects is critical for an animation studio. Being able to then supply the client a review to feedback and the whole team seeing it means it reduces bottlenecks and timelines. Cons Its hard to find TD's to help implement some extra workflow features, and I wish the review system was more like syncsketch for more technical animation feedback, this would be more for internal reviews as clients wouldn't need that feedback tool. I love the all-in-one features where I can upload preview, review it, manage the files and versions, keep track of time bid and may more tools. Cons This software is almost perfect. I think, Uploading video via f-connect does not show the progress. No Idea why we remove the collaboration option from video review panel. It was way better than sharing screen on Skype or Teams. It needs daily usage to understand it, if you are a worker that barely spends time in it, it can be confusing. Pros It's extensive customization and templates set for any kind of our personal accommodation requirements. Cons At first glance there is a lot of information going on in one place, making it quite visually distracting. And for those workers that only need to do a specific task like just upload daily or files, it gets confusing since they are seen too much information that they don't require. Many useful features. Pros I use ftrack largely to keep track of an asset pipeline. As long as we are on top of it, ftrack is a reliable source of information and lets me know what state any given task is in. I also appreciate the robust filtering and dashboard options. Also by default I get a pretty reasonable number of emails (just the ones with information I care about). Cons There is a bit of a learning curve when starting out with ftrack that can make it intimidating for new users. Also I wish the UI was more responsive in my browser. Review Source GS Gerardo S. It has helped with managing our work load, but also for communicating issues, tasks, and deadlines. Cons The webplayer could be improved upon, right now it is a little clunky. For example, when I'm looking at my work through the webplayer, I have to go through and change every single shot to the most recent task. The shots that show up should be the most recent, not the first version uploaded. Also, notes made within the webplayer also don't seem to go to the correct task level, rather they go to the topmost level, which means I have to double-check and navigate to other task levels to see any notes made there. This is a problem because notes can easily be missed if you are unaware of a new note being made on a new version, or if you expect that note to be on another task level. Review Source JB Joshua B. Frequent updates require continuous pipeline modification. I could complain, but actually, despite its flaws, Ftrack does things better than Shotgun. Pros Easy to access, easy to chain tasks involving multiple people. Cons Proper setup requires a lot of API coding and updates often break things. They come out of the blue and are never a welcome site. Instead of "congratulations" it's: "Let's see what they broke this time?" There needs to be an option for letting the client choose when to roll up and not force it upon them, but that's not in the works, as far as I know. Review Source WR William R.
