I am happy it does everything i need and some things even better than Acrobat. The UI is a bit different but I learnt to adapt. It is more stable and rarely crashes. It is also much much better than other PDF readers such as Nitro and 995. Pros \* Full compatibility with Adobe Acrobat PDF for most use cases \* Advanced features such as commenting and PDF assembly and optimization are still supported \* No ridiculous ongoing subscription fees and Adobe Cloud \* Faster than Adobe Acrobat Pro \* Doesn't pre-process document flow like Acrobat which makes it much faster to open PDFs Cons \* Default "color styles" are not great and too dark for use with Highlight Tool, would be better if you could change these to your own color and opacity \* Ctrl Z undo when copy and pasting text boxes will crash it. Partner Accounting Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Important tool in going "Paper Less"" September 29, 2024 5.0 I am presently using Power PDF Advanced 1.1 in my CPA firm and have been using it and its predecessor software for nearly 20 years. It has helped me move my office into the "paper less" era. That is not paperless but "paper less" or less paper. It is highly unlikely that all paper can be eliminated at this point in time but a significant portion of what we previously printed and stored in filing cabinets is now "printed" to PDF using the included PDF printer driver and is stored electronically on our network. We have been able to reduce the number of filing cabinets in the office by using PDF storage of what otherwise would have been on paper. Pros Power PDF is a fairly simple program to use while still providing features that some PDF implementations either do not provide or make hard to understand. Cons Power PDF seems to have a bit of trouble with some PDF forms created by the Canadian and Ontario governments. Sometimes a field that is supposed to contain dollars and cents goes in as a number with 8 digits after the decimal place. However, if one saves the PDF, closes it, and reopens, it will show properly with 2 decimal places. This very well could be fixed in the current version of the software. I am still using Power PDF Advanced 1.1. It is sometimes best to have multiple document come together in PDF editor. This package will do a great job from combining file to bates stamping with advanced formatting and page positioning, page numbering with section control. Pros It has all the bells of a paid PDF editor package./ However, the impact is with the batch process functions that can be used to perform actions such as multi file optimization and other programmatic activities that applied to multiple document in one folder. I also can say that the OCR functionalities seem to be a bit better than other packages that I have investigated. This is now my main package but... Cons I think it is a but pricy. I don't like the companies licensing policy. The process to move licenses from one PC to another is a bit difficult, especially if you don't have the original PC at hand, eg. when your harddisk is destroyed or failed. It is a complete PDF solution that offers many features like merging multiple PDFs into one file or Splitting PDF pages into multiple PDF files, converting documents to PDFs, compressing PDFs, changing page sequences, digitally signing documents, etc. Even it offers an OCR feature to convert scanned PDFs to readable and searchable formats. I think it actually works better with PDF documents than Adobe's Acrobat product. And I love the uncluttered, easy to use interface. Just seems like a perfect choice for any business, but especially worthwhile for small businesses that can't afford the overpriced alternatives. Pros Excellent conversion capabilities so moving from PDF to Word is truly effortless. I have also used Adobe Acrobat for converting PDF files, but Acrobat tends to place text into boxes where Power PDF Advanced simply creates workable Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. Does a wonderful job of reducing file sizes. In some cases, I have been able to reduce files sizes by up to 80%, which is great if you are working within an e-mail system that has file size limits. Does an amazing job of inserting accurate bookmarks (automatically) when combining multiple documents. Redaction is effortless and the Bates numbering feature is perfect for law offices. Cons I wish the document comparison feature worked a little better. It does create a comparison of documents, but tends to identify a whole paragraph as being replaced when only a sentence may have been added or deleted, so it makes it difficult to accurately represent changes when sharing with clients or colleagues. Pros I use Kofax mainly for the following with PDF documents \* Sign the documents (save your signature in your machine, and you can add it as an icon; you can have multiple signatures, and assign them names \* Type notes on the documents \* Combine 2 or more documents - you can decide the order \* Use other stamps - "Urgent" etc. There is a number of predefined stamps, and you can create your own. So it's great to have a single software which can handle most of my pdf related work. I also get to keep the different documents in one place in an organised way and share it with different people and teams as needed. Also, all the tools are intuitive to use, and the UI is pretty simple. Pros The compression and conversion tools are probably my favourites. It's also very easy to convert any file to pdf with this software. Personally, I have to sign many official documents, and it's a lot of hassle to sign them physically. Therefore it's great to have this software using which I can sign documents electronically, and the signature looks neat and realistic. Also, I can merge multiple documents, and the pages can be rearranged as needed. Cons I don't have any big complaints about this software. One minor issue is that sometimes the text recognition is faulty, though it can be manually corrected, so It's manageable. Review Source HC Henly C. Pros Cost: Significant savings over Acrobat Pro when considered enterprise wide. Functionality: All the bells and whistles of Acrobat Pro including document compression, redaction, compare, etc. We didn't find any functional deficiencies in Nuance Power PDF Advanced. Ease of use: Because of cost savings, we were able to roll this product out to many more users. Most of them were using the product with little or no training. Efficiency gains: since more staff we able to manage their own document maintenance, the bottle neck of fewer people performing document maintenance was removed. Advanced Technology: Some our older systems store PDF documents as OLE that cannot be opened by Acrobat outside of the source application. Nuance was able to ignore the OLE wrapper and present the PDF. If would be nice of Nuance had a batch process to convert these OLE PDFs so we could convert them en mass. Cons It wasn't a complete replacement for Adobe. Some applications were specifically looking for Adobe to open PDFs and we could not find a reliable way to redirect the Adobe call to Nuance. In those situations, Adobe reader had to be installed on the desktop. But Nuance could also be installed for document manipulation. Review Source AL Aubrey L. Slowed my work process and timeliness down significantly. Pros Nothing - I miss Adobe and its user friendly options. Cons You cannot adjust the screen to your preferred uses each tab is required to be accessed separately taking up hours of time switching between tabs, edit, comment, view, crop. It groups things that have no business being grouped. Prefer Adobe that is single section separation. Kofax moves to much around when adding to an already in use text box. It adjusts the formatting from the original to much spend far to much time correcting what was already nice and in good format that Kofax screwed up when trying to add or remove items.
