Founder Used the software for: Less than 1 year ### "While useful to our design and build clientele, the QuickBooks syncing means actual reconciling on our part" May 21, 2026 5.0 As an accounting company with various design and build customers on Houzz Pro, we use it indirectly by virtue of managing our client’s books rather than using the platform ourselves. Easy clients are those with ordinary projects as far as bookkeeping goes, and the platform manages all their accounting information for us. The tough clients are those with heavy traffic and expensive projects that make us spend extra time reconciling QuickBooks entries and clearing payments because of the cap. Security-wise, the platform's basic measures to safeguard information and protect user portals have been sufficient enough for our needs, although I would recommend anyone considering this to check how it stacks against their requirements. Customer service has always been satisfactory in answering basic queries through email and messaging, although complicated synchronization problems may take time to solve. In conclusion, I recommend this software to accountants dealing with small and medium-sized design-build firms but must caution about spending additional time reconciling QuickBooks transactions. Pros In terms of accounting, the most valuable feature of the Houzz Pro service is the fact that our clients' billing and payments, along with the project finances, are all organized in one system rather than residing in individual documents or scattered spreadsheets. Assuming that everything works properly when syncing with QuickBooks, then there is sufficient information coming through for us to be able to recognize transactions rather than having to recreate them. Payments and approvals from the client side are managed through one portal, thus making it easier for us to follow the trail of any deposits or milestone payments down to the signed contract. Our small design and remodel clients have found it much simpler to keep track of finances with time and billing managed together. Cons Syncing QuickBooks remains the issue at hand. It seems the new iteration of the platform brings with it issues of transactions being uploaded incorrectly, creating a tedious process of reconciling line by line, not knowing whether the fault lies with us or with QuickBooks. Another hindrance lies with the method of paying: fees incurred from using ACH payments, coupled with the maximum fee charged on each project, can cause a large project for our clients to be broken into smaller parts that may create problems when matching the deposit to the invoice at month end. The core features like 3D planning and estimating work really well, but slower support and a few limitations bring it down slightly. Pros The 3D floor planning is still the standout feature and helps a lot with closing deals. Estimating is straightforward, and using templates saves time on repeat work. Cons Customer support has gotten noticeably slower, sometimes taking 1 to 2 days to respond instead of minutes. Also still missing some small features like custom invoice numbering, and 3D measurements can be off at times. No structure for truly setting up a company. You must watch videos on youtube or their directory in order to learn the platform. The problem here is that the videos showcase stuff you can't access (or the videos are outdated and need to be removed from their directory). I've asked for a new onboarding specialist in hopes of learning how to properly setup my company on this platform since I've invested $6k, but after 8 days my request has only received a "Hello, Thank you for getting back to me. I apologize for the late response. We have been out of office for a long weekend due to the holiday. I am in talks with management on this and will get back to you once I hear back from them. Thank you for your patience.". I used other CRM's and the onboarding process is thorough and the team helps set you up for success. Houzz Pro is the exact opposite. They act like you are an inconvenience to them. Poor onboarding structure and customer service. I know the product is probably great, but its impossible to run a company and become proficient in something without a proper training. I wish I knew this was a self taught system prior to investing because we would have went with a different company. Pros The pitch given by the salesperson was great. Daniel Guither showcased the platforms tools very well. The 3-D Floor Plans are a great way to showcase the design, custom templates, easy payment collection for clients, integration with quickbooks, they also help with website management, etc. Cons The onboarding is atrocious. Plan on dedicated at least 50-80 hours just to get the setup in the system and learn how to navigate it on a very elementary level. This is only learning how to use approximately 10% of the system. Another major issue is reaching someone at the company. You get sent in circles. I've reached out to the Sales Rep over a dozen times and he refuses to acknowledge and email or phone call. I like integrations for alternative payment methods. Cons Contracts is a mess. Completely unusable. Support is a nightmare. For $700 a month we could of paid for google ads, home advisor or evens signs that would work better. They aren't allowing us to cancel even though they way over promised and not delivering. Pros the design was okay. other programs are equivalent for less. We wanted to use this for marketing and gaining more customers, but we had maybe 2 customers we sent estimates too which resulted in no work due to how many other contractors they can go to off the same site. There are so many useful resources to me as a designer, as well as tools to make running my business easier while still continuing to learn tips and tricks and insights from the home design industry. Pros I love the fact that there are so many tools in one spot to run my business. Costs did get a little high for me so I had to drop the website management, but still feel as though Houzz offers so many tools to keep my projects managed, organized and in a snapshot format I can check in on. I enjoy using the software for invoices and managing payments as well. The mood boards, 2D and 3D software are so easy to use. Cons Cost can be a little on the high side and coordinating how to use all the different tools so you are redundant in their use. Some tools can be a little tricky to get the hang of. However, clients often get confused because both invoices share the same number. It would be really helpful if we could issue multiple invoices under a single authorization to avoid this confusion. The lidar scan technology and the ability to transfer that quickly into a 3d mockup and an estimate/contract is essential. \[sensitive content hidden\] has been awesome with the onboarding thing, helping us get comfortable with new software. I like that our guys in the fiend can see product codes, selection photos, and scope of work along with a ridiculously easy navigation capability. We are still working on the email templates, but that shows promise as well. Cons It's not always easy or intuitive to get things done. For example, converting a lidar scan to a 2d image so takeoff and estimate can be pulled from it, the estimating process is easy but miss just one step out of several and you can't recover. Cons every aspect of this program is lacking in some way. the 3d/layouts was very limited. payment processing was extremely slow and you have no control over it. no way to look at your actual subscription. you are limited on most everything. not very user friendly no one im management can seem to fix any issues its always someone else who does it but nothing is every done no value for what it costs. there is way cheaper options that are better no customization practically. just dont waste your time definitely dont fall victim to their marketing packages there are a huge joke. I would like to have a timeline at least for when we expect the solutions Pros It's vast capabilities. The 3D Floor plan tool and the ability to create floor plans in the same app that I do my project management in. Cons These vast capabilities function horribly. The budget tool is way too basic. The takeoffs aren't linked with the associated estimate for live edits. The floor plans don't save as a PDF with any useful clarity. The estimating tool only lets you estimate based on $ / Unit Qty meanwhile I should be able to input the rate of production for that assembly and it spit out the $/Qty. Pros It is excellent and manages 90% of what we need in our business (and probably 10 additional things that don't pertain to us). It has been reliable and trustworthy for our firm since we opened. We especially love the time tracking and retainer management making the tedious task of billing easy! Cons It is expensive - and the additional fees per user make it cost prohibitive to roll out to the whole firm. Also we wish we could charge the fees for credit cards, but not ACH. We would absorb the 1% for our business, but want to pass the higher fees through to the client. Pros I enjoy it's AI functionality, the intuitive estimating process, the recent addition of the Home Depot pricing and the automation aspect for the client follow-ups. Cons I do not appreciate the way it is constantly trying to get me to "secretly" pass on the finance charges to my clients by asking me to raise the markup percent. Your app pushes the payment option so hard and the fees for every little thing add up. I know there is business in banking but this is an estimating CRM style software, the money grab mentality is very disappointing to say the least. Pros I like the take off option the most, just wish I had the ability to do a shop drawing on it. That would make it great. Cons The customer service.
