Its a great software to boost sales with presentations and options, and upgrades. Pros Sales is the top priority in our contracting business and this definitely solved it! The presentations, options upgrades and selections are the number one feature. Cons Set up time can be long. Cons Given that the software is fairly new we have discovered many bugs along the way. Having said that as the software is revised, the frequency of the bugs has dropped off significantly. They would not provide a refund, so my experience felt like a total scam. Cons Inability to get the roofing and bathroom estimating templates created. January 30, 2026 4.0 In spite of the cons, I would say that the software is worth it. It has enabled my estimating team to work in coordination and in a timely manner. The Bolster Support team typically responds quickly and is always helpful. Pros Top two pros: Customization and Speed Love that I am able to tailor pricing to meet my company's needs. With the template features the turnaround time has sped up immensly. Cons Top Two: Aesthetics and Technical Issues Every now and again there are glitches or features will "act incorrectly." Best way to deal with this is to make sure you are saving your work, and double check before sending out estimates. I miss the Aesthetics and user experience of the Cost Certified version of this software. It had more visual appeal. Review Source QM Quentin M. Adm Construction Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Good overall, just need some improvemets" December 16, 2025 5.0 the support team at Bolster is very responsive and they work hard to resolve system glitches. We have been using Bolster for a couple of years and though not perfect, it has been helpful for our company to have and it is worth a try! Pros Bolster’s estimating software has many useful tools, and when building an estimate, we have ENDLESS options including a prebuilt library of items we can edit to fit our needs. Before this we used QuickBooks for sending quotes, so this has been a nice step up and we have not regretted it! Cons With that said, there are some hassles we’ve learned to navigate when creating a proposal; when clicking the “clear changes” button, just know it will get rid of ALL work including anything saved, and when changing the theme (cover photo) of an estimate - while inside the preview layout - it will automatically change it on ALL other proposals currently using that same theme, without warning. A few other tricky features that we encountered: internal messages from prospective clients can be easily overlooked and once read, the notification seems to stay on, the processing company (Plaid) used for ACH invoice payments require personal banking information that our customers feel is too invasive, we prefer to send our own review requests after we completing a job instead of Bolster’s automatic surveys that are sent to our clients (this can be turned off, if requested). With any software program, there are unpredictable bugs that have halted our progress at times, requiring some flexibility on our part. Review Source OC Olivia C. They are genuine people who are trying to help contractors improve their processes and grow their business. They have answered every question, responded to every email and call, and even set up last minute meetings with me to make sure I can make the best use of the platform. The sales team is exceptional, the customer service and onboarding is phenomenal, and the resources available are amazing! Pros I have saved so much time on estimating. I used to spend at least 10-15 hours each week calculating estimates and typing up fancy proposals for my customers. I could only see a limited amount of prospects just because it took so much time. Since I started using Cost Certified, each quote takes me about 10 minutes tops! I can spend more time actually talking with my customers about their projects and providing better service instead of wasting time estimating. The best part is, the whole proposal is interactive. My customers love it! It gives them the ability to choose their own budget, and I end up having more productive conversations now that they can pick and choose on their own. Cost Certified is so detailed, precise, and professional, that I ended up booking a big project over the phone. That is something that I have never done before in my 4 years in home improvement sales! Cons The ONLY potential downside is the time it takes to set up. However, just like anything in business, you need to invest before you can make profits. I invested a decent amount of time to understand how the system works and to customize it to my specific projects. The time it has saved me just in the last few months is easily a 5-10x return. This software is an absolute "must have"! Reason for choosing Bolster I looked at a couple different products, but Cost Certified was the only one that I really felt comfortable with the support and service. The other companies sent me email after email, but Cost Certified was the only one that called and took the time to talk with me. Once I made the purchase, it was a seamless transition to the onboarding team, and they have spent countless hours making sure my estimating process is as easy and professional as possible. It started with being told the price was XXXX. Being a Canadian company myself, I assumed the price was in CDN. Nope, it is in USD. Then once I realized, I asked for a refund. They said no. So I tried to make it work. I spent HOURS with them and with the product and never actually was able to produce an estimate for an actual client.DO NOT BE BAMBOOZLED BY THEIR SALES TACTICS. Pros Graphic interface is decent. Tie in to HD pricing slick, but not really usable in my case. Cons Building assemblies is painfully slow. Updating items takes forever to save and is entirely unintuitive. Only one contact per opportunity (almost all of my clients have multiple stakeholders and email addresses).Set up time is FOREVER.Extremely slow to save estimates and make changes once you start getting into the details. They regularly check in to offer support and updates and are always willing to listen to concerns or suggestions that you may have to improve functionality. Pros We love that it speeds up the process for quoting by using templates that we are able to create, specific to our type of projects. We used to spend hours on our estimates with tedious spreadsheets but this enables us to get our quotes to the customers in a fraction of the time! Cons We found the initial learning process a little hard to grasp but we were introduced to a great 'customer success manager' who spent a lot of time walking us through it until we were comfortable using the program. They are attentive, have a well laid out onboarding and customer success process, and guarantee you’ll get the help you need to send out great bids. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] was in charge of my onboarding and \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] was my salesman. Both exceptional people. Pros CC streamlines the sales process. I can capture details with great ease that have eluded us for 20 years. I can take all of the pricing information in my teams head, capture it in CC, and create very detailed and accurate bids. CC is versatile enough to meet the needs of complex remodels and simple paint jobs with ease. The customer is experience is like nothing I’ve seen with other software. Want to make more money through upgrades and correctly priced change orders? Use CC. Is it worth the money? Depends…are you tired of not knowing where every penny goes? Missing things on bids? Can’t remember what you charged last time for that one-off item five years ago? Like redoing the bid ten times because the customer changes their mind necessitating 10 more phone calls? Like looking like every other contractor out there? If you like those things, just stick with your antiquated excel spreadsheet. CC will pay for itself through the upgrades you can build into it and the best customer experience I’ve seen. You’ll see more jobs and be more profitable. Cons There was a lot to learn. It took me a while to learn the software well enough to make quality bids. I would like to see a a better way of presenting information about my company. We show our licenses, comparison charts, etc to educate our customers to show how our company is different and brings more value to the table than other companies. " December 26, 2021 5.0 \- Overall this software has been very helpful with estimating jobs quickly and efficently. Pros \- The software is pretty intuitive, but setting up all of the materials and assemblies will take some time. Once you have built a lot of the assemblies, i.e. fences it makes it pretty easy to put together estimates in 20-30 minutes without much hassle. - They support APIs, you just need to work with them. I talked to the development team a bit and was able to use an API to port in customer information which was super helpful. I think CRM is useful, but not inclusive and currently use JobNimbus. - Their Support is phenomenal. I would recommend you talk to them if you have any issues or if you are running into any issues. They will break down some potential options to fix the problem and see how they can work with you. \[Sensitive Content \]has been super helpful. Except that’s an extra fee on top of the already expensive yearly subscription, and it’ll take months to build it out. Other programs are 1/6 the cost for a better user experience and more features with a more refined interface. Not a good fit? “Sorry, we don’t have a refund policy” Pros Not much. Software is clunky. Try to highlight something and it backs out and you lose all the changes you just made. Editing items is tedious. Cons Don’t purchase this program without a long trial, or only do monthly payments. Also makes change orders part of the contract seamlessly. Pros Cost certified lets you include upgrades and options for the client that they can choose and watch the pricing update automatically. it’s like having your own private web store just for them. Cons I have to carefully watch cost of materials, which I thought would update automatically in the background, but that feature isn’t really live yet.
