Project Manager Management Consulting Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "A great replacement for budget management spreadsheets" May 1, 2026 5.0 Pros We use MASTT to replace a series of bloated excel spreadsheets and macros, which were opaque to the user and prone to errors (usually related to bad input). MASTT makes bad input much easier to catch, speeds up the data entry process and gives us a lot of tools to ensure we can quickly interpret the status of our projects. Cons While MASTT's team have been quick to respond and take feedback on board, moving from a self-run spreadsheet solution does sacrifice absolute flexibility in favour of data security and standardised presentation. Prompt support and feedback from Mastt team is also another great thing about the system other than the software itself. Pros The dashboard with infographics. The dashboard view of projects is something that we do not have currently. We are still in a trial period and have not presented the dashboard to any committee or council but I can see that it will deliver more clearer and intuitive understanding of capital projects to executives. Cons Overall, it would be great if users and administrators are given more editing rights so that users can add/remove, edit, or even create graphs, reports and so on. I have used Mastt across two workplaces now, and have achieved significant efficiencies in both. As consultants, every hour we spend on reporting is an hour missed out creating value for our clients. Mastt has cut the time it takes for us to perform our administrative tasks such as variation approvals, superintendent instructions and progress claims. The time saved is worth several multiples more than the cost of a subscription. Pros Mastt is a reliable system that we can use as our single source of truth for all cost, time and risk information in our projects. Most of all, it has been easy to introduce to the business because it is intuitive. Cons Mastt is a fantastic system. That being said, all good new things come with minor bugs. Thankfully, the support team at Mastt are responsive and action any request for a bug fix. It has never held me up on any of my usual reporting. Review Source EM Erik M. Pros Mastt was easy to use and set up. It uses a lot of cost managmeent principles that clients and contractors would be familiar with, but takes away a lot of user error that spreadsheets bring. It also has the power to combine multiple projects into programs or portfolios to filter data for management level analysis and direction. Cons The user interface is an improving aspect of the software. There have been great recent changes, but more can be done which I understand are in the development pipeline. Our project support are happy to have more systematic processes to work with. Our clients enjoy the transparency and clarity around budgets, commitments, variations, payments. We all like the dashboards. Pros Mastt helps us provide professional documentation for our clients, from centralised data - reducing the potential for errors when duplicating information across multiple sheets / documents, and reducing time spent formatting. Cons We are still learning how to best use Mastt. The ability to accurately manage cash-flow and forecasting enables a greater level of planning within a program of works level. The data analysis and production of informative, easy to understand infographics is excellent for client communication and briefing and also allows for efficient and effective internal stakeholder meetings at various business management levels. Pros Finance management - enables efficient and accurate forecasting and cash flow management at an individual project level, as part of a portfolio or as part of a program of works. Communication to internal and external stakeholders is EXCELLENT. Risk management and communication of the risks at different business levels is excellent Cons Initially, it takes new people to the software some time to get the hang of it. However, continually developed lessons and user guides plus organisational use and familiarity will reduce this significantly. The more automation within the software will increase user efficiency and enable a higher level of the 'so what' of the data analysis and less on the data input. Pros Adaptability of MASTT. Ability to include specific requirements/information relevant to the user/project. Overall presentation of data on the system. A very intuitive platform for financial management. Ability to access the platform from both a restricted network (Defence) and public network. Ease of adapting existing processes into a far more streamlined process. Cons No significant cons to report. Some terminology used in the system was new for many users, however, did not take very long for the new use of certain terminology to become the norm. Project information is provided via a simple and intuitive interface, yet supports an impressive level of detail should you wish to delve deeper. It is invaluable tool for Octopus Energy Generation as it allows unlimited user interaction per project which is critical given our delivery structure. The overall experience has been very positive across our various departments and external stakeholders. Pros There are many positives associated with Mastt, not least the support and value for money. For our purposes what really stands out is the powerful risk management and cost management tools and the ease of use and flexibility of the product to provide information in unique ways that suit different users and requirements. Cons There is little to dislike, but if I had to provide one weakness it's probably the inability to setup light versions of excel and link that data to a programme level view. I am sure an update is in the works given that we have seen multiple improvements and additions to the software since our use began a little under a year ago. It makes my job as an APM so much easier and it's great to have the confidence that reports I generate are correct (no checking formulas). Pros I love the fact that Mastt not only provides a very practical, and super easy to use system for managing costs and reporting for the projects I'm working on, but that it eliminates the chance of errors due to broken links or incorrect formula in spreadsheets. I also love the recently added feature where you can provide a link to clients so they can view a live dashboard of the project at anytime. Mastt is constantly improving and adding new features. Cons That's a tough one, there's not one particular thing I don't like - I guess if anything there was a bit of a learning curve moving from spreadsheet reporting to Mastt, but now I want all the projects I'm involved in to run through Mastt. I use it to manage quite a few medium to large construction projects and have recommended it to a few of my colleagues in the renewable energy space. Also some very easy to use AI integrations for contract reviews, budget set up etc. Pros I really like how they tie together very easily all of the fundamental project management risk management and construction concepts. Very simply and easy to use dashboards. Cons It's only limited to subcontractor cost management. I know a lot of construction companies want to track quantities and rates and its hard to do with subcontract costs only. Would be cool to add in some sort of labour tracking. It has improved efficiency and consistency across projects, particularly in a school development environment where multiple stakeholders are involved. Pros Mastt is very user-friendly and makes project reporting much clearer and more structured. It’s especially helpful for managing multiple projects at once, with good dashboard visibility and other tools that most project management wont offer. Customer Support: The Mastt team is very responsive. In some cases, they reply to my emails within 5 minutes, which is extremely helpful when dealing with time-sensitive project matters. Cons As a relatively new software, there is still limited information available online. It started out mainly as a cost tool, but now we’re using it to pull together full PCG reports, including cost, risk and programme, all in one place. It’s kept up with what we actually need on projects, and the support team has always been easy to deal with and efficient whenever something comes up. What felt like a bit of a nice idea early on has now become part of how we run projects, and we’ve rolled it out across the business as one of our core systems, which is a genuine point of difference in the industry. Pros Definitely the reporting and how it has evolved over the years. Being able to have the flexibility to set up and create your own report specifically for each client is great. Pulling the cost information automatically across into different diagrams and visuals is so efficient and has reduced the monthly PCG reporting and reviewing time significantly. Cons Currently when updating sub budgets it doesn't always automatically update the overall budget which can sometimes lead to user error if not checked thoroughly. Review Source Luke A. Pros Mastt is a massive time saver! An easy to use, transparent platform has been a huge productivity hack our business. we love it. no more error prone spreadsheets. Plus the new AI document upload features are very handy. We also love the AI upload tools Cons Once you learn to navigate the platform its great but can take a while to get used to. The Mastt team are extremely attentive and consistently available to support whenever needed. Pros The system is very easy to use, with a user-friendly interface. Compared to other systems we’ve used, which can feel clunky, Mastt is more structured and reduces the risk of user error or poorly formatted outputs. The dashboards and templates are also well presented and professional. Cons While the AI auto-fill function is generally quite good, there are still some simple errors it continues to make. There is also an inability to insert a signature into payment recommendations and effectively track EOTs in a contract. " May 18, 2021 5.0 We needed a system that could clearly report project performance and manage daily project financial information e,g, variations, contract values, payment history - Mastt did this perfectly for us. We also needed a system that could allow us to track project risks and performance in real-time to allow us to communicate this information clearly and concisely to our clients so that we could implement it appropriately. Pros As client-side project managers, Mastt was simple to use and aligned well with our contract delivery model (Government Infrastructure). Our team was able to get a high-level program-wide snapshot of performance and determine the project areas that required further analysis. The ongoing user support was excellent and the onboarding of new team members was well done. Our clients appreciated the clean graphics and printable reports. Pros Mastt provides financial information in a easy to read and succinct manner. Mastt is constantly requesting feedback on how they are able to better the system and assist in teaching me ways to extract information from the software in a way that is tailored to my needs. Pros The software is a great solution to the issue of incomplete or redundant data used in project reporting. The fact the data is in the cloud and able to be updated in real-time is a great benefit to me and my clients time. Cons I don't have any major issues, I juat wish they gave out more free tee shirts.
