While the setup can be complex, the long-term payoff is immense. It has truly become an indispensable part of Trail Hiking Australia. Pros GeoDirectory has been the backbone of my Trail Hiking Australia website, powering the listing of over 3,700 hiking trails across the country. Its flexibility, scalability, and rich feature set make it an incredibly powerful directory solution. Pros GeoDirectory is a comprehensive, deeply integrated plugin that is perfect for small or large directories, from local restaurants to a worldwide category search site. The support is unbelievably awesome, with fast, personalized responses. Cons There is a bit of a learning curve due to its depth of features. However, all of the negatives that I've experienced with this plugin since first subscribing almost 8 years ago have been addressed and improved by the developers. Reasons for choosing GeoDirectory Most other options that I tried when about to launch my site were more designed for a company to list its own branches or were themes with special functions. I just started my own business directory with it and everything seems very nice. Pros Almost endless features as could be made custom post types with custom fields and also links between them. Cons Event calendar function is not looking good. Reasons for choosing GeoDirectory I don't remember how many and which plugins did I checked, but in everyone I saw cons. I started working with this one and with the time I spend I saw how many possibilities it has. Also I liked it because It's a plugin which work with every theme that I choose. On the market there was many theme that came with geo location integration, but I don't want to stick with one theme. It has also allowed me to expand my offerings to my users beyond just a directory enabling me to run a fully-functional, broad-based business. Pros The software allows you to build a simple, city-based directory site or an expansive global one. You can incorporate user reviews, ecommerce capability and advanced search functionality, all compatible with the latest themes and site builders. It is truly the Swiss Army knife of directory software and I have trusted my business to it. The developers are responsive when you are in a jam, the documentation is extensive, and they are continuously adding to and improving the software. I have reviewed many options in the directory software space and in my opinion, this is by far the best directory software available today. Cons Because the software is so expandable and has so many options, it does take some time to set up your directory to where you are happy with it. But this is also what makes it so powerful. My actual project holds about eight hundreds (764) ads, 7 custom post types with 7 plans each (both free and paid), an integration with WooCommerce and it's growing day by day :-) I am planning to use it for a couple of world-wide projects due to the ability to contain so many and complex data for each ad. Pros The high level of customization possibilities and flexibility are the strengths of this software. There are ready to use demos with different purposes that help starting a project in no time. Cons The learning curve is a little steep and must be kept in consideration if you want to customize deeply your project or start from scratch.
