Portabilling has been really interesting to use, and there are usually lots of learning and knowledge sharing between the sales and technical team. No regrets so far.

Pros

What I liked most about the software for the User Interface for MR72. It was more user-friendly and pleasant to look at. Also, the challenges faced with loading pages were no longer encountered in the new release. It is also easy to navigate, with faster response time on actions taken. Integration with the business was also good, and the customer service team were always ready to assist.

Cons

The tariff-change feature should be worked on, such that a change of tariff based on set policies should not result in loss of signals. Also, hotlining features should be refined and made seamless. And also, better integration with PCRF.

Reasons for choosing PortaBilling

Portabilling was less expensive, and we were won over by their sales and customer service team.

Dear Rosemary, Thank you for your kind words about the new PortaBilling UI! This project took a lot of effort, but we are happy that we hit our goal to improve speed, navigation, and overall UX. By tariff-change feature, do you mean changes in the Internet access policies? I think so, because in PortaBilling you need to change the access policies to modify tariff configuration (speed, rates, etc.). The reconnect is a system behavior that's needed to initiate the session with the new parameters. We've improved the behavior, and starting from MR75-4 the reconnect is performed smoothly. Issues with hotlining were also fixed in releases MR80-3+. Integration with PCRF and other third-party systems is typically driven by the customer, since there are a variety of business scenarios. Now that we've added iPaaS, the new scenarios can be created and "dropped in" as containers in just a few weeks, then maintained via low-code UI. Get in touch with us to know more! BR, Vlad

We have been using PortaBilling for about 10 years now, and true it has its limitations like every application but the experience has been wonderful. The fact that we can customize the Application to suit our desires and also able to integrate easily with other systems, both Internally and Externally. Each MR is designed to support more features and new features. The support is Awesome! 24/7.

Pros

Flexibility, easy to customize to your taste and desires. Integration with other vendor systems is always right on point. Support is awesome! Always there even when you are doing your own internal maintenance that might affect the Billing System. Cost Affordable, compared to others. Yearly training. Frequent Maintenance Release (MR) that is always designed to support new features in the technology world.

Cons

Limitations in some features expected in RFC but when once those features are highlighted, they get built into it software in the next Release. Some times, the results written in the documentations are not what you get. You need to escalate to the support team before you achieve those results. Additional feature requests comes with a cost.

Reasons for choosing PortaBilling

The software to some extends meets most of our requirements, budget, the availability of documentations for read ups and research. Above all, the development codes, APIs are so open and available for easy customization.

Dear Tosin, It's difficult for a software vendor to support all new RFCs as they come out, so we focus on the most common ones and those requested by clients. If you find that our software doesn't support a recent RFC that's important for your business, let us know: the requested feature can be delivered in the next MR that come every 7 weeks. Our software documentation contains thousands of pages. Even though we strive to maintain an "excellent" rating by our clients, there's always a chance of minor inaccuracies. Please let us know if you notice any contradiction in our documents: we'll correct it! Not every request for a new feature comes with a fee. You can submit a request to a wish list, and if it's common among the community and we have the resources, we'll work on it. Otherwise, fees are one way to prioritize for some single-customer requests. Good news: we do not charge our users for the new features we add so, as a customer, you will receive lots of them at no cost! BR, V

PortaOne if a great company to work with. Their support is really good and it has a culture of discipline and responsiveness that goes across all the touch point we have interacted with. We have their PortaCare Premium support and it is money very well spent. This service allows us to concentrate on the business side of leveraging the system and not into the harsh system admin and maintenance, which they take care of. We enjoy much the honest, direct and humble approach of their executive team. For us much more than a provider, PortaOne is a partner we expect to grow with. We will have a hard time keeping our average customer for 9+ years if we did not have the stable and reliable platform we have, which has enabled us to invest much more in customer experience, while keeping competitive prices.

Pros

Dependable, reliable and very powerful. PortaBilling is in the base of our core offering and it has been very dependable for more than 13 years. We started on Release 13 and we are now running on release 75, upgrading permanently with PortaOne's premium support.

Cons

As any complex system it takes some effort to understand the logic and concepts behind, but it is not a particular fault of PortaBilling, but a typical situation of complexity. PortaBilling should have a much better reporting capabilities, being this the weakest point, but I understand this is being resolved with the PortaBI option.

Reasons for choosing PortaBilling

Other products then looked simpler, but we chose PortaOne for their feature reach functionality and the very solid real-time billing capabilities. We believe we made the rigth choice, as none of their competitors then are still around and PortaBilling has been instrumental on our 17 year evolution from VoIP, International DID pioneer, into our mature and reliable offer.
