August 13, 2024 5.0 Shogun has become my go to tool to speed up my processes in building great looking pages. The publishing and autosave have helped save me from losing work. Pros Shogun is easy to visually layout and modify landing pages and web pages. I have used this extensively with clients sites and have great results! The tools to manage SEO and Meta data are great. Page speeds are very fast! Cons Some of the paragraph text editing features are lacking but you can easily work around these. September 17, 2024 5.0 What I love the most is that I've had a steep learning curve to figure out how to use Shogun BUT the customer service is absolutely one of the best around. Hands down!!! These guys get back to you blazing fast and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS do their best to help. No more waiting for days for shitty customer service or for your web developer to take their sweet time getting back to you. These guys have impressed me with the like 40 times I've had to get in touch with them now in the last two weeks. AMAZING. I give them virtual hugs every time they help. I love this amazing fast customer service. Pros I absolutely love the flexibility of creating your OWN website pages from scratch!! You're no longer at the mercy of expensive web designers and waiting endlessly for them to help. No more of that nonsense. Shogun lets you be as creative as possible and I just created a main page that no other designer has been able to do for me effortlessly. Im so incredibly happy!!!! Cons It's a little glitchy. I find I have to click on things a lot for them to work and things disappear and need to redo things sometimes when Im working on a page. I've no idea why. Sometimes while my page is loading I see things appear only briefly that should be hidden. Im hoping these are things they can resolve easily for flawless page rendering. For ecommerce brands running regular campaigns and needing custom landing pages on a tight timeline, it earns its place in the stack. Not perfect, but it removes a real bottleneck. Pros The drag and drop editor is genuinely easy to use and doesn't require dev support for most page builds. Templates are solid starting points and customizing them is fast. Being able to build and publish landing pages without pulling engineering resources is the main value prop and it delivers on that. Works well for campaign pages, collection edits, and quick seasonal updates. Cons Performance can be a concern depending on how heavy your pages get. The editor can feel slow at times and occasionally glitchy when working with more complex layouts. Some features that should be standard require higher tier plans. The whimsies of our design and marketing team could rapidly become a reality. Pros Shogun made it very easy to develop customised content without having to outsource to an external Shopify developer. We were able to create highly customised landing and internal pages that greatly contributed to the communication objectives for our brand. It was also very easy to develop and adapt targeted support material for the benefit of our broader community. Cons As an early adopter when Shogun was still young, we did not wholeheartedly embrace the updated pricing plans when the new tiers (and admittedly, new features) were introduced. Out of all of the features that Shogun provides, their Customer Service is top tier above any other software. I had to fill in for our designer to do a rush project - I am not super well-versed in Shogun. I can get my way around, but not the technical items. Live chat was easy, I had a response within 10 minutes. For a few days I had multiple questions. I was assigned \[sensitive content hidden\] as a CSR every time coincidentally, and he helped me tremendously EVERY TIME. I knew that I could do whatever design I wanted with \[sensitive content hidden\] help. If Shogun wasn't built for that design, \[sensitive content hidden\] would help me find a workaround for it. He did the edits for me and even screen recorded them for me so I knew how to do them in the future. This was so helpful and have never experienced any Customer Service like it. Usually, the CSR agent is like a robot and they don't understand what you're asking and send you to a help article. This is what makes Shogun superior to any other page editing program. Cons While the customer service is great, Shogun does require a bit of hand holding. It is not very intuitive. If you want basic blocks without overlays or any other types of design, then I would not go with Shogun because you'll need to confer with customer service for help every time. I'm used to other platforms like Wordpress and Squarespace. The connection between shogun and shopify was a little confusing to me and some of the drag and drop features didn't work in the ways I expected. But overall it's been a great way for us to add pages to our shopify template Pros The customer service with Shogun far exceeds my expectations and experience on other similar platforms. They are so NICE! And helpful, providing me with fast, detailed solutions to my queries. Cons Occasionally there's a lag between content creation on shogun and when it shows up on our shopify page. I think we're also missing some of the newest features because we're on a legacy plan, but upgrading is out of our budget right now. He's quick to reply and if he doesn't have the answer he will connect me with a colleague or team to help! For full disclosure our workplace is grandfathered in with a cheaper plan. Many of the new features Shogun offers are already handled by systems more integral to our business, so there's not much sense in upsetting that balance. Pros With Shogun, you can make some nice landing pages for products and services without coding knowledge, though you'll be limited by that factor as well. Cons There are only a few cons to this service - and I can only speak to my experience with the app (read our overall experience for more info) which will be different from anyone signing up nowadays. The first one is price, especially if you are already running a robust system for marketing and metrics and don't require all the extra bells and whistles Shogun offers. The second is that there is no menu memory in the page editor - if I switch between elements I'm editing, the menu brings me back to it's top instead of remembering that I was looking at a lower part of the menu.
