### "The best experience for the Office 365 world."

October 21, 2024

4.0

Visio is wonderful as long as two things happen: 1) you work in a 365 environment, and 2) you pay for the most advanced plan to have complete functionality. Due to the time it has been on the market and its integration with Office from the beginning, it remains a good alternative. However, I tend to use some other tools for specific tasks that Visio does not handle in the same way.

Pros

Complete integration with Office 365, making it easy to use with all applications.

Cons

The price, compared to other options on the market that, although they do not do exactly the same as Visio, is extremely high. Additionally, by exploring other low-cost alternatives, you find functions that Visio does not have.

Because the company I work for uses Visio as a solution and does not accept the purchase of any other.

### "Visio - The Industry Standard"

April 15, 2026

5.0

It does what I need, when I need it. I like being able to have one program that can handle all of my design needs, from one pane of glass. It's been a solid experience.

Pros

If you want a solid design solution that is currently the industry standard, you should absolutely go with Visio! They have a ton of templates to make using the product really easy, plus it's unmatched for visual diagram creation. Visio is backed by Microsofts world class customer support, available 24/7. In terms of value for the money, I'd say it's excellent. It's time saving, and you can save/import/export files in any major format you need.

Cons

There is a learning curve to Visio, like there is with all professional design software. It just takes a bit of time to learn, and get used to.

Alternatives considered

[Smartsheet](https://www.capterra.com/p/79104/Smartsheet/)

Reason for choosing Visio

It simply wasnt robust enough for our current needs.

### "Solid diagram and process mapping tool"

July 16, 2025

4.0

I was introduced to it a business that I was at for a short time and liked it so when I joined another startup I suggested we use it and it was the norm for 3 years.

Pros

It felt familiar after using Microsoft for many years - common menu options were where you would expect to find them and it had all the functionality you needed.

Cons

Sometimes the ability to position things in exactly the right place could become frustrating. Diagrams could get messy quite easily.

### "Great software! Could use some work on the collaboration side."

February 10, 2025

4.0

It can be expensive for a lot of users. But I like using it and can get so much detail with it as opposed to some other drawing tools i have used.

Pros

Visio is the stander for drawing network diagrams like I do. So many stencils available makes it easy to draw something that looks nice

Cons

Sharing drawing for collaboration could be better. That's the biggest downfall as far as I can tell.

Alternatives considered

[Lucidchart](https://www.capterra.com/p/146136/Lucidchart/)

Reason for choosing Visio

Price and Collaboration were a key factor. But in the end Visio did what we need.

### "Highly intuitive software to create breakdown structures"

December 2, 2024

5.0

It has been very useful to determine the preliminary workflows for the scheduling process and creating work breakdown structures and organizational breakdown structures.

Pros

It is highly intuitive to use, as it is shares the same interface style as the other Microsoft Office Suite products. When a change is made to a workflow, it is easily adaptable, as the connections automatically pulls any related step.

Cons

Sometimes, Visio can create connections where it is not wanted. There should be an option to lock items to prevent Visio from creating unnecessary connections.

### "A great way to show visual processes"

September 28, 2024

5.0

My experience with this program is creating processes and visual process.Flow maps for different tasks at my organization. This has helped multiple departments become more organized and understand all that goes into some of that things we do on a daily basis.

Pros

This is a really great program to create flow charts and great visual representations of processes that you might be using at your workplace or within your organization.

Cons

It is a little hard to use at times but overall with time it becomes a lot easier.

### "Pro Diagramming with Visio"

November 14, 2024

5.0

Visio was a powerful tool for creating detailed diagrams. Its wide variety of options enabled detailed visualizations, though ease of use could be improved for new users

Pros

What I liked most about MS Visio was its extensive range of templates and shapes for creating professional diagrams. It made complex visualisations, like flowcharts and network designs, easy to build and customise. We used Visio predominantly for visualising work flows for sub-teams and it was effective.

Cons

What I liked least about MS Visio was its learning curve. Some features felt unintuitive, and it took time to navigate the more advanced tools effectively. There are other tools, such as Lucid, which feel more intuitive.

### "Visio is more than a profess flow app."

September 9, 2024

5.0

I am very satisfied with Visio and have been using it for years for just about everything. No complaints.

Pros

Visio serves as my primary whiteboard for project management. It provides much more than it's intended use as a process flow application. You can also add images, hyperlinks, rich text, and more.

Cons

Organization. If I could combine Visio with OneNote, it would be perfect.

### " Microsoft Visio: The Ultimate Tool for Professional and Corporate Diagrams"

April 27, 2025

5.0

Very good, I have already dimensioned several networks with the help of the software, building incredible projects.

Pros

The ease of creating network diagrams and a huge library of ready-made templates, you can find any type of drawing already semi-ready

Cons

Depending on the size of the diagram, especially in networks or large plans, Visio may slow down, freeze, or even close out of nowhere.

### "Visio : Your tool for Visualization"

December 10, 2024

5.0

I love using Visio a lot because it helps me to create diagrams and visualization that are well detailed easily. I appreciate that it integrates all other Microsoft office products so importing information from Excel and processing it is as simple as ABC.

Pros

What I like the most is that it is what I would call user friendly and the templates are very good and saves me a lot of time.

Cons

I do not have anything I like the least at the moment.

### "A good choice for advanced diagrams"

November 28, 2024

5.0

I use Visio for more advanced diagrams to include them in documentation.

Pros

I appreciate how it allows for intuitive and quick creation of diagrams. It offers a wide range of options for editing colors, shapes, and forms, making the customization process seamless and flexible.

Cons

I don't like that Visio is a separate program, and when I'm working on a table in Word, I have to switch between the two applications. It would be great if Visio were more integrated into Word in some way.

As a business owner, I rely on Microsoft Visio daily to create clear, professional diagrams to streamline processes and communicate ideas effectively. Its user-friendly interface, extensive templates, and seamless integration with other Microsoft tools save time and improve productivity, making it an essential part of my workflow.

Pros

Visio delivers professional-quality outputs, offers customization options, and is scalable for various use cases, making it ideal for industries ranging from IT to business. ### "Visio for designing diagrams"

November 5, 2024

4.0

Overall Visio is a great tool for beginners and students to generate schematics and block diagrams nicely.

Pros

Visio is a great tool to generate block diagram, flow charts and schematics. I have also used Visio to design System Architectures. the three features of shapes, connectors and text makes this software quite important to design from basic to completed diagrams.

Cons

There are little to no debugging and checking tools available which can debug or find errors in the connection being made. This is very Visio should have developed some additional tools which could identify any gaps or missing connections. Moreover in terms of designing architectures, Visio lacks some features which could help the user in system-level architectural modelling.

Overall, my experience with Visio has been positive. It’s a powerful tool for creating detailed diagrams and visual plans, but the cost and learning curve can be drawbacks for casual users.

Pros

Cons

What I like least about Visio is that it can feel expensive, especially for occasional use. Also, some features can be a bit tricky to learn without prior experience.

### "An efficient tool for diagrams"

October 9, 2024

5.0

I use Visio often when looking to communicate a technical process with non-technical co-workers or clients. Sometimes it's difficult to fit everything into a PowerPoint slide, so I rely on Visio when needing to create something much more detailed. Visio is also easier to create flows than you can with objects on PowerPoint.

Pros

Visio is a great tool for creating diagrams and other types of visuals to communicate technical processes in ways that other Microsoft products like Word and PowerPoint can't quite offer.

Cons

The number of features can be overwhelming, I recommend consulting professionals or online tutorials to get a complete understanding of the possibilities.

### "Well stablished and industry standard"

October 22, 2024

5.0

For simple in house tasks I might stick to a free software, but for more professional work Visio is definitely the right choice.

Pros

It has excellent flow chart-creating capabilities. It's also quite smart and saves you time by automatically fixing the location of arrows in many instances. It's much easier to move things around in Visio without wrecking everything else, too. It's also industry standard and if you work with clients it's a great tool to have.

Cons

It's too expensive compared to competitors. There are even some free options. However, given that this is industry standard, it might be worth it.
