### "A must for Org Chart Creation"

November 17, 2022

5.0

Love it.

Pros

OMG this is a must if you have to create org charts! Seriously, I will not create an org chart without one! The days of using PowerPoint or Word is done. Visio is what you need!

Cons

Figuring out how to move and connect certain diagrams is a little difficult. But nothing YouTube can’t teach you..lol

Switched from

[Microsoft PowerPoint](https://www.capterra.com/p/141633/PowerPoint/)

Visio is much easier to use for my needs when creating flow charts.

### "One of the "killer apps" alive today"

June 8, 2017

5.0

Too numerous to mention. Suffice it to say the phrase 'A picture is worth a thousand words' is very true and this product helps bring ideas to life.

Pros

Granted it was purchased by Microsoft from Visio Corporation in 2000 but it hasn't lost a thing, which is quite unbelievable. In fact, it has gotten better over the years. I have to say it is truly one of the most "beautiful" pieces of software I've ever used. From the flow of the user interface to the creation of almost any type of diagram, Visio has been there for me since day one. The ability to layer diagrams and images can not be beat. With some additional VBA work in the tool, it can not be beat for ease of use and flexibility. It can also connect to a database and create ER diagrams. It also has UML which can almost turn directly into code. Almost. It's not quite there. Yet.

Cons

It will come as no surprise that the price is what is the most absurd. The pricing of the product lines will take this software out of reach of casual users. For doing any truly useful work, the Professional version is almost double the Standard version. Microsoft needs to lower the cost to increase its market penetration in some sectors. Otherwise, a solid all-around product.

### "Industry standard, as it should be"

September 10, 2023

4.0

Pros

I don't know if Visio was the first in the field, but it has definitely set the standard when it comes to flow charts, org charts, and visualization of complex models.

Cons

It is priced in the higher tier for domestic and small business use

### "Diagramming tool I use most"

March 19, 2021

4.0

I have used Microsoft Visio professionally since 2015 and I believe it is one of the best in what it proposes. As an engineer, I create many process flowcharts to facilitate understanding and organizing the ideas of my clients and students. The ability to import DWG files is one of the great advantages of this software for professionals. In view of its great features I never chose to use another similar program.

Pros

I was able to create my flowcharts from the first use of the software. Considering its features and sharing options, it has good cost-benefit and is capable of generating different products in different formats and in excellent quality. Using Microsoft Visio online in my browser and being able to create together with other users makes the professional visio experience more successful. In this software, I can create diagrams and flowcharts from the simplest to the most complex and detailed.

Cons

One feature that the program could improve on is the variety of plans and forms of payment available. As a suggestion, I believe that it would be very useful if this software offered options for buying separate vouchers for temporary use, as this possibility would be very useful for those who do not use the software so often.

### "Visio - Powerful Tool for your Work Arsenal"

March 28, 2022

4.0

Strong tool to show process mapping, network architecture, etc. Applicable for technical and non-technical teams.

Pros

The ability to diagram out small or large, complex processes. This application can be used for everything from technical network diagrams to basic process flows. It allows exporting to PDF, so non-technical end users can view your completed document.

Cons

It does not handle large amounts of text well, in the same way Excel or Word does. It is a bit tricky to edit and format, overall. Large sheets can be difficult to use without a large monitor/display. The learning curve is a bit steep for new users. It can be difficult to create lines and arrows easily, that are "pretty".

### "Excellent tool for mockups and workflow"

May 24, 2020

4.0

Microsoft Visio is one of the best application for designing of wireframes, mockups, workflow etc. You can find various alternatives over the web but when we talk of performance on desktop system, Visio will come at first place. My overall experience is good and its really wonderful. I am able to express myself in terms of designing wireframes successfully through this.

Pros

Microsoft VISIO is awesome application. I am using it since 2008 and have used various versions of it. Visio is wonderful desktop application which runs smoothly. It consists of many inbuilt tools andd diagram shape which helps you in creating awesome documents such as 1) Mockups 2) wireframes 3) Flowchart 4) Workflow design 5)creating network topology diagram 6) Process documentation etc. Its drag & drop feature elements, grouping/un-grouping feature is awesome. Micorosoft office related shortcut commands work perfectly.

Cons

The problem with microsoft applications that these are costly. Visio is similarly costly product and its lighter version not available for cheaper prices. Product feature wise i can say that its is weaker on mockup design for Android and iPhone mobile apps wireframes, microsoft should add such stencils also in this application so that people continue to use it.

### "Visio 2013 still top notch!"

December 25, 2017

5.0

Pros

Visio 2013 has raised the bar for the challengers. While I already enjoyed using Visio 2010, I now really enjoy Visio 2013. The addition of the ribbon interface now makes it easier to set up and enter frequently used features along with providing a very workable interface to add drawings, pictures and any other diagrams needed to make business flow. I use this tool almost every day to produce and refine presentations to staff and managers. I particularly like the workflow diagrams which allow me to get my point across as to where the resources are used most heavily in day to day business. Although I've looked at other tools, I still believe this tool is the best value for the money and for interoperability with other systems.

Cons

While there is not much to dislike about this software, there are some features which leave something to be desired. An example is the ease of placing headers and footers on the diagram. Now, it seems that we have to use the title feature which only allows headers and footers as background layers for the Visio diagram. I'm not sure I like this feature. I think there needs to be functionality that allows the user more flexibility in designing and entering headers and footer with ease. The current functionality permitted by Visio 2013 is somewhat clunky. There should be an easier way.

### "A very efficient tool for flowcharts"

December 30, 2022

4.0

The easiest and most enjoyable aspect of Microsoft Visio is its drag in -and-drop builder, which makes creating diagrams quick and straightforward. I can use a variety of pre-built shapes and templates in my diagram, which helps me save a ton of time.

Pros

MS Visio is an excellent tool for illustrating concepts using a flow chart or other customizable diagram. I can simply design flowcharts and diagrams with the amazing pre-built templates that come with Microsoft Visio.

Cons

I had to make the same modifications to a diagram since I had lost the most recent version. Visio does not support automatically arranging diagrams. Also, it does not support collaboration like the Lucid chart does. The pricing of Visio is also on the higher side

### "Does exactly what i needed!"

May 9, 2023

5.0

Pros

Visio is an fab tool for creating diagrams. It is user-friendly and has many collaborative features. Visio has an intuitive interface that makes it easier to create diagrams. It is also adaptable for many different applications and has a wide range of templates, which includes flowcharts.

Cons

It isn't as affordable for people on a tight budget because it is rather pricey than alternative diagramming tools. Visio's ability to be used by businesses that rely on non-Microsoft software may be constrained because it is primarily made to integrate with other Microsoft products. Visio has certain flexibility limitations, especially in customization, which can irritate sophisticated users who need greater control over their designs.

### "The Ideal Tool for Creating Network Diagrams!"

May 8, 2019

4.0

Visio has been incredibly useful for us as an ICT department, as it has allowed us to map and log our network topologies and other vital information that is required during network troubleshooting. It is easy to create detailed diagrams, and means our technicians no longer have to sift through mountains of aged documentation to find answers - instead they can simply check the network diagrams created in Visio. This has improved productivity substantially.

Pros

Visio is a feature-filled diagram and flowchart creation tool. It includes many templates for diagrams, including network, commercial, and telephony device icons in order to aid in the creation of network topology diagrams. It also includes shapes and icons that meet the requirements for ITIL process maps. Visio includes templates for popular basic diagrams and flowcharts to get you started, and once created charts can be connected to real-time data sources such as SQL to display the data. Visio comes as both an installable application and an online web-based app that can be accessed from anywhere with a network connection.

Cons

As Visio is distributed as a standalone install package, it can be hard to install alongside Office packages that have been installed with the 'click-to-run' installer. Although it does provide several pre-made templates, these templates could be re-vamped to look more modern and appealing.

I use it for documenting technical flow and processes within my tech team.

Pros

Cons

It gets a little tricky on complex diagrams when trying to put a connector to another part of the flow.

### "My Visio Review"

August 27, 2019

4.0

Other than the above issue with stencils (Which is now not an issue as I've created 99% of the stencils I use on a regular basis) This piece of software is used daily, and you will always find it open/in use or minimized on my PC. Any users needing to map something logically, this is the software for you. I recommend everyone have it as part of their Office Suite.

Pros

I have used this product well before Microsoft purchased the product. I use this product to map everything. I use it to map networks, subnet maps, corporate formation maps, workflow diagrams, IP address deployments, radio deployments and many other uses. I like this product as it is VERY manageable and manipulable.

Cons

The only think I've not liked about this product was having to create stencils for many projuects out of images I've had to download and render to make work with Visio.

### "Visio - outil de dessin des organigrammes"

November 24, 2022

4.0

### "Invaluable software for documenting entire computer network. Full of features, full of functions."

July 2, 2018

5.0

Biggest benefit this gives us, after having used it for so long and put a lot of work into it, is great visibility into the design of our entire network: firewalls, routers, switches, servers; building layouts, cabling paths; access points, desktops, phones, printers. Everything is organized so well, we can easily lookup physical locations, switch ports, and cable paths, making troubleshooting much less difficult for our IT Technicians and Interns.

Pros

It's pretty powerful and full of features and niceties. Using this software, we've been able to fully document our existing network, document all upgrades and changes. We've even used it to integrate into our Active Directory network to build out organizational charts. It has shapes and templates for just about everything we've needed: org charts, switching and routing diagrams, individual switch cabling, diagrams for documenting our server racks, our phone system, work flows, and building layouts. We recently more than doubled the size of our building, and this software has helped us to document everything in the new building, and keep track of upgrades in our existing buildings. Software is easy to use, so our interns have been able to jump right in and start working with all of its features.

Cons

It does seem to use a lot more memory than other Office programs, so it does tend to crash a lot on us. Mostly when we're using some of its more advanced features like integrating it into Exchange/Active Directory. Even still, it works well at what it does, we just need PCs that have a lot of memory to ease the user experience.

### "Flow charts and processes made easy"

February 6, 2023

5.0

Visio has aided the business with the create of professional looking and important workflow process maps and charts that assist with the reviewing and implementation of important core business functions. Without this tool it would be difficult to visualise and scrutinise some of the more complex processes

Pros

Visio allows the creation of flowcharts, organization charts, projects, grid diagrams, 3D maps with ease. It's flexibility is a key factor allowing the business to create a range of professional of diagrams and work flow processes with a lot of editable functions.

Cons

The cost is a major con, as other providers offer similar functionality and more for a similar price. Overall though you are paying a premium price for the software being under the Microsoft banner.

As I have mentioned before Visio is an excellent software for creating flow diagrams, and definetly is a must have for any type of programmer, since it allows for easily displaying code explanations to everyone. I totally recommend it.

Pros

It is an excellent software for creating flow charts and flow diagrams. I've used it frequently when creating new programs to explain them to my coworkers, and since it is so easy to use and so intuitive I waste almost no time creating them. Its layout it is really comfortable and for anybody used to microsoft software it should feel really familiar.

Cons

I have absolutely no complaints about visio, using it has been extremely easy and really rewarding, it has allowed me to take my flow diagrams to another level and I always get compliments on them from my colleagues.
