When adding figures, the program automatically helps you align then together to keep the diagram straight and organized. Additionally, there is no premium cost to access the wonderful features. Pros Visio makes it easy to create flowcharts and diagrams for a variety of purposes within any organization. You can use it to create anything from a simple organizational chart to a process map that helps your organization become more agile. There are a variety of templates available or you can create your own diagram based on your own personal needs. Cons The drag and drop interface is useful, but it takes sometime to learn. Additionally, when adding lines, it is sometimes hard to get them straight. Pros Once mastered, the ability to create flowcharts becomes very easy indeed. Having a degree of Project management and/or process management experience helps significantly in understanding the use of the different icons, although there are some very useful templates to help with creating your visuals. I enjoy the creative side of it because I use a lot of different shapes and colors to determine the flow of the org charts. Pros I like that Visio gives you a large amount of creative tools that help you design flowcharts and organizational charts. I have been making a large amount of organizational charts for my organization recently, so it has been such a helpful tool. Cons I wish the tool looked more visually appealing and felt more accessible for certain tools. I feel like I have to keep looking through the program and learn something new every time. It's easy to use and has a lot of cool features tucked away once you get the hang of the basics. (For my part, I only need the basics, and they work wonderfully.) I wish it came bundled with Microsoft 365 for Business by default. Actually buying Visio is so much harder than it needs to be. Pros Previously I made flowcharts in PowerPoint. I had to make a new presentation, create a non-title slide, insert a shape, resize the shape, insert a text box, insert an arrow, resize the arrow, connect the arrow to the shape, and repeat all of the above a dozen times, just to make a simple flowchart. Visio doesn't have this issue; it's so much simpler! Visio gives you the blank slate and a whole selection of shapes and arrows that connect to one another automatically. Any text you attach is resized automatically to compensate for the change in shape. This ease of use lets me focus on the content of the flowchart, rather than the formatting. (The formatting features are robust, too.) I quite like Visio's approach to flowchart creation, at least in comparison to PowerPoint's. Cons I wish Visio came bundled with Microsoft 365 for Business by default. The pricing model for Visio (and Microsoft 365 in general) is so confusing. Feature-wise, Visio is great. But acquiring the software, let alone acquiring it at the best cost, is a hassle. Review Source MP Mike P. I have tried using other free or cheaper versions, it was not the same. Its like using GIMP over Photoshop. Pros I typical use this software is for network design, either current or for new projects. It's mostly easy to use and you are able to download the icons from most network companies. Cons Web version I think is the worst part. It is a very reliable and easy to use tool. I can also learn more details with the help menu available. There are many ways to make models on it, and so I find it convenient to use this software. Pros I love how easy to use this program is. I use it mainly to design a basic model of my project or assignment. I like how there are multiple types of shapes to use in the model. I can place them anywhere I want and connect them easily. This is a very convenient program to use to build quick simple designs. Cons I don't like how the program has limited components, such as the ones needed for my more complex designs at work. I have also used Visio to design System Architectures. the three features of shapes, connectors and text makes this software quite important to design from basic to completed diagrams. Cons There are little to no debugging and checking tools available which can debug or find errors in the connection being made. This is very Visio should have developed some additional tools which could identify any gaps or missing connections.
