Because of the easiness in drawing and and professional look of the final product this application is more famous in the industry more specifically in IT industry. Pros Visio has become one of the major applications which is used in drawing diagrams in the industry. Visio has become almost an official tool in diagraming as it is vastly used In most of the companies in creating diagrams related to their business plans and projects. There are various types of diagrams provided through the application . So the users can draw any type of a diagram according to their requirement from the given diagram types. Because of the large number of diagram types provide by the application users’ does not need to search different software to draw different diagrams which saves both the time and money of the user. Visio offers different editions like Standard, professional and pro with particularly improved functions per each edition. Also Visio created diagrams can be imported in another similar diagram drawing software and do further modifications. Even the diagrams drawn by some selected software can be opened through Visio and edit them. Visio offers both desktop and online versions for the users which helps the users to use the product whenever they want wheatear they are connected to internet or not. Cons Visio is not a platform independent software. So far Visio is only available for windows operating system. It does not supports mac os or Linux or any other operating system. Which has limited the usage of the application only for the users using windows. Though there are different editions users have to pay for each edition with more facilities. And the price need to be payed seems to be unfair considering the same category applications. Though there is a desktop version in Visio it is not constantly updated. Pros This software really gives us freedom to do what we want with creating process maps. it is an excellent peice of software that we use daily, the snapping of objects and professional look really sets our business our from using word or power point to do this. Cons i am not a fan of the online version. i feel it is lacking compared to the desktop version, luckily they still allow you to have the desktop version so its not a major issue. June 14, 2022 5.0 Visio is wonderful to use as I do a lot of process mapping and identifying process ways and flowcharts. Visio is a perfect tool to use this with and while not everyone can find a use case for it, I am very happy with it. Visio is a great tool that any analyst can use when making an org chart or process map/workflow. Pros Visio is a very good visual tool if you need process mapping and a flowchart. Visio can help customize and visualize a change or swim lanes if you need help illustrating on who and what is involved in a process. I also really like all the help and how-to guides there are available when using Visio. Almost all Microsoft products have this and Visio is no exception. Visio is also easy to integrate into a PC or Mac. Visio isn't part of the standard office suite Microsoft has but it's easy to get setup and up and running. Cons Visio is expensive. You cannot just request this if you are needing approval, there is likely a business case you will need since this can be up to a $300 add-on per person and costs can add up quickly. Microsoft's support isn't the greatest with Visio either as any problems will require you to uninstall and then re-install the software which is time consuming and frustrating when you have to do it. It is in the right direction. Visio is a top-level tool for boosting productivity while documenting and visualizing data. Misrosoft Visio's visual design is a standout feature, and the software is user-friendly and easy to use. Pros I use Visio everyday at work. It made my life easier. I save a lot of time with Visio and I am more productive using this tool. I mainly use visio for data visualization, buidling diagrams, and flow charts. It is very easy to use; I simply and quickly use the drag and drop feature of Visio to create diagrams. I totally recommend it to professionals and researchers. The software is highly customizable; it allows users to customize diagrams down to the smallest detail, including shapes, colors, and patterns. Also, multiple users can collaborate on a single document in real-time. Cons I do not see any cons for Visio; however there are two things that can be improved in the software:Microsoft Visio have limited export options when compared to other diagramming software. You can not export the diagrams with any format you may want to. Another thing to mention is that Visio files can become quite large, particularly those containing a lot of detailed diagrams, which can make it difficult to share or save them. Our documentation wins in appearance compared to other competitors. Pros We like that we can create our own Icons and figures, it is very easy to make and share. This allows us to make approved diagrams regardless of who uses it. Cons The main problem is that it requires additional licenses to the regular office package. Not all third parties and clients buy this tool, which forces us to transform some designs to other formats or even leave them in display-only formats. I think that the cost could improve so that more people in the organization can use it 100% as well as the third parties with whom we collaborate. So often there is a good intention on trying something new, but it is important to get everyone on the same page. This tool has helped do that. I have also extensively used Visio as a training tool. I will link the diagrams to other portals and tools that we use, so that the workflow document is something of a link aggregator for all the steps involved. This has made the hand-off from training to implementation much easier. Pros I like that I can use Visio to easily demonstrate workflows and process improvement ideas. There is a range of understanding for software like Visio. I do not use it to automate at my place of work, but I use it extensively for visual learners when implementing or discussing new processes, procedures, and ideas. Often I have co-workers take these designs and display them for their team as a physical reminder, others are more intuitive and I work with them to develop interactive workflows (with links, actions, etc.) Cons There are some elements to how you design that are not intuitive. I usually spend about 15 minutes with users who download the software to demonstrate how they can make their flows and diagrams. The organization chart is particularly more cumbersome than advertised, but even so, I have users who use it for this purpose. Online resources are sparse as well, and I often am troubleshooting when trying new methods. Cons The main problem with this tool is that the license can be expensive if you are a small company, you cannot share your work to be edited if the other part / customer does not have a Visio license, not included in the suite of Microsoft Office, if you have a very detail or heavy drawing it may crash, and there is no version for MacOs. " November 19, 2019 5.0 I'm using Visio for my daily work when I need to draw flowcharts, business process and more importantly for network drawings and rack drawings. Early I was using Ms word and powerpoint for these but both of them were unable to deliver what I want so I switch to Ms Visio. Visio is a great tool to get a professional quality output without much effort. GUI is very easy to use and templates cover most of the daily business requirements and even easy to find many templates online and use it. I'm using original stencils for all my drawings ( Network and Rack diagrams )which gives me perfect output. So overall I really recommend MS Visio... Pros Easier to learn and use it even for a beginner who never used Visio or any proper software. The richness of the templates in the library and even the possibility to download additional templates as per your requirement. Available many stencils with most of the brands (HP, Cisco, Dell, etc.) when using to draw network diagrams. Cons You need to pay separately for license costs even you have Office Professional or Office 365. Need to convert to PDF or another version to view it , if you don't have Visio to see it. Pros Grazie a questo applicativo Microsoft risulta più semplice ottenere risultati gradevoli a livello estetico, funzionali ed ordinati rispetto ad altri applicativi come Powerpoint e word dove gli stessi contenuti si ottengono in più tempo e con risultati meno gradevoli. Apprezzo molto che nella versione più avanzata siano messi in comunicazione Visio con Powerpoint. È possibile creare brevi presentazioni di più pagine. La quantità e qualità di modelli presenti anche nella versione base è adeguata alla realizzazione di qualsiasi tipo di diagramma, schema, mappa e altri tipi di documenti utili alla visualizzazione di informazioni, dati e condivisione di idee. Il software è sufficientemente diffuso da avere molti tutorial gratuiti. Cons La comunicazione tra Visio e Powerpoint, a mio avviso, è una funzione così basilare che andrebbe aggiunta anche alla versione base. Infatti difficilmente il software verrà usato da solo per creare presentazioni intere, perché è meno versatile di Powerpoint, ma piuttosto viene usato per singole slide, e, copiare ed incollare su altri programmi le immagini create su visio ne abbassa la qualità. It is very effective for creating complex diagrams and depicting current and future state workflows to clients. Pros MS Visio is a very easy to use product. While I don't use the template library, I can see how this would be a great feature for most. I create my workflows freehand assisted by the Shape library and I appreciate how the pre-created shapes are organized in different libraries. Cons I wish the product "locked in" to the current feature you were using. For example, if inserting a connector, you have to click on connector before each one you wish to insert. May 29, 2022 4.0 All in all, I am happy with Visio - the perfect tool when you need to make a fast electrical drawing which is later used as complimentary illustration to a document. Pros I use Visio for electrical engineering and I like that its database has almost all needed electrical pictograms which I can drag and drop to my drawing. Sometimes I even learn about new electrical parts while searching in the databases. Also, since they are the most common ones, I am assured that everyone will understand my drawings. I do not need to create the pictograms from scratch and it speeds up my desing. Cons Size and distance control is an issue. For example, when I make two squares one inside another, I can control the square size. But I can not control precisely how far away they need to be from each other. Smooth control does not work. That sometimes causes some issues for me. I fully recommend Visio if you require to visualize data, or present your work in the form of some sort of diagrams/ flowcharts. Pros The most important capability that Visio offers is its integration capability. Visio is fully integrated with Microsoft Word, powerpoint, and excel. I use Visio often for diagramming, sketching block diagrams, and flowcharts. I am an Electrical Engineer, and I find Visio very useful for visualizing my reserach findings, and presenting my data. Visio helps you save a lot of time for preparing presentations, documents for the company, etc. It also includes an online version. Cons I do not have any specific dislikes. The only thing that comes into my mind as a possible improvement is the size of this application. It usually takes a long time for Visio to open up, and it takes a lot of space in my PC. It would be better if it could be reduced in size. Using built-in templates save a lot of time and effort - and then tweaking them to create my own make working with Visio a breeze. I have always found it stable and have never lost any work. Having experience dating back to the use of plastic stencils and rulers with pen on paper I can say that Visio is superior product. I can easily take generic work I have done and brand/style it to match multiple clients making it bespoke to their needs. This saves saves so much time and gives me confidence when working with multiple clients clients. I am able to take complex processes and create very large charts to lay them out in a logical fashion to make following them through much easier to understand. I love the functionality and overall workflow. Pros I like the fact that it is pretty intuitive. Most people who have an idea of what they need to create will be able to quite quickly create great looking diagrams. The toolbar will be familiar to MS Office users with all the standard text features. There are numerous built-in templates covering a wide range of applications. Literally thousands of shapes available and if they do not meet your requirements they are customisable. I love the layering capability and the options to change backgrounds and create templates. There are lots of Addins for Visio both from Microsoft and third parties which enhance the capabilities of what is already and excellent product. Cons Unless you really need the power of Visio - or money is not an issue - there are other products that can produce basic flow charts and process diagrams. The current cost from Microsoft is £340 for the 2021 Standard version or £640 for the Pro version, which is expensive especially since it used to be part of the Office suite (a long time ago). This is multi-layered software. Not so much a dislike but it can sometimes be difficult to find exactly what you are looking for. It can be buried in the menu system.
