Project Insight the vendor and the product have change the way we manage resources, time, project and programs. They are highly thought of with our C suite. Pros Project Insight is a partner and not just a vendor. After an implementation they don't just hand you off to support. They stick with you and make you feel like you are a part of their organization. Cons I wouldn't say this is a con or something I like least about Project Insight, I'd just like the ability to build my own reports and dashboards. But knowing them...that's coming. The tool fits well within our process and includes features that other tools cannot touch for the cost. The support team does a good job with new feature orientation and office hours too. Pros Project Insight does a great job at providing an all-in-one solution for us. The ability to have our project resources in the tool and managing their own tasks is a huge advantage. The support provided by the Project Insight team is also great. Cons When updates are rolled out they often create bugs that impact our project managers and sometimes our users too. Some of these are quickly resolved, but others can take weeks or even months to resolve. One of these issues seriously impacted a feature rollout just a few days after I launched it and declared the initiative a success to my executive leadership team. We are a very niche industry with very specific workflow needs that can be quite a departure from traditional project management needs. The PI team works with us to adapt and develop the tool to suit. Even when our ask may not be able to be accommodated 100%, the folks at Project Insight always find a way to get us to the finish line so we can do what we need to. Cons I don't think that there is anything specific I don't like about Project Insight. Obviously, if it was more tailored to our needs out of the box that would be great but certainly something I wouldn't expect given our unique business and workflow needs. Creating resource allocation reports has reduced my time not using 5 different excels to pull data together. Pros Love the product. Ease of setting up a project plan. You can make it simple or complex. Reporting is easy to setup and can be automatically sent to individuals or groups. You can setup weekly status reports to go out to executives and project team members. Cons I would like to create my own complex dashboards and not have to reach out for support. I have seen some really cool dashboards and reports that other companies have created in this tool, but you must you PI time to have them create it. We cannot create milestones, cannot customize the look and layout of the chart, and when printing, it needs to have various print options that allow us to see the entire project on a large PDF. " May 10, 2022 5.0 Overall it has been a positive experience. It's easy to use once you go in and learn where to find things. Pros I was searching for a project management tool that would mimic as close as possible how we were currently running our projects. We already had a task list that was being used over and over again for our projects but it was in Excel. I wanted a tool that users would find easy to understand and have a similar look and feel to transition to. The other main component was to find a tool that could handle making updates to our Master Task list, which we do on a regular basis and have an automated way to update the Master task list and then have the system also update the project's task list for projects that were in process. Cons Would like it to be easier to build reports on my own. Example: To be able to create a list of specific resources for all projects. The ability to hide and unhide tasks that are Done without having to run a report to hide tasks that are complete but not be able to unhide them dynamically. Reason for choosing Project Insight Project Insight delivered exactly what we needed with their product. We knew there were other things the product could do but the sell was that it could do what we asked for during their demo. They were also very easy to work with and accommodated me with my requests. The folks at Project Insight built what we wanted to see and didn't ask for money up front. The competitor showed us their product but wasn't able to sell it to us because they didn't show us the critical item(s) we were looking for. They said they could build it but once seeing it in PI, our minds were made to go with PI. PI offers excellent planning tools to setup projects and forecast staff utilization. We can also plan multi year projects with escalating rates by resource type. This provides a true picture for us to see how we are performing based on quote/budget. Cons Configuration of the product can be cumbersome. It does take a while to locate all the add ons you may want and configure them properly. Sometimes reporting doesn't always seem to get you to where you need to go. That being said, a weekly office hour session is offered and has been a big help for us to keep learning and moving forward. You definitely have to use this to know what you don't know. PI has been very helpful along the way, and they are always responsive and available for questions. We feel this is light years ahead (for our group at least) of MS Project and management loves the visibility into all projects in process via dashboards, reports, etc. Pros Love that it is cloud-based, by far easier to use than MS Project, easy to assign tasks to techs in the field and have them update via mobile app, being able to have visibility into all projects in my portfolio. Their implementation assistance was painless and they were very helpful. Cons PI still needs to complete their integration with MS Teams, some quirky behavior due to the fact that it is web-based, usually a page refresh is all that's needed to fix UI issues. January 11, 2023 5.0 Every part of the team at Project Insight -- be it administrative, training, or support -- was exceptionally friendly, responsive and enjoyable to work with. Because of our inexperience with multi-user project management, it took a while for us to develop and test our workflow... but between our onboarding, training and ongoing support, we always felt that the process was an entirely collaborative effort. Their team is exceptional, and the evolution of the product -- additional features added and excellent responsiveness to feedback -- is probably the best I've experienced. Pros Project Insight checked a lot of boxes for us; we were looking for a good mix of desktop and mobile usage, as well as tools that would make it easy for our users to update their task status on a long and complex critical path involving multiple users in multiple locations. Project Insight had the diverse tools we needed and was highly customizable to help us achieve our unique goals. Cons This is probably a comment more about project management in general rather than Project Insight specifically, but a great deal of time and care must go into developing your workflow and initial templates, and that can be a daunting task when you're first starting out!
