I love this tool requires no-code. It allows users to create games and interactive experience without having to write complex lines of code. With the amazing support from the Construct team and the community, I find that Construct 3 provides me with all the tools I need to make my game come to life! The tutorials and blogs are a plenty and wonderfully easy to follow! It's also very enjoyable to use! I have fun working in Construct 3! Pros Without a doubt, my #1 reason for using Construct 3 is the incredible involvement of \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] and his team into support and development of the software. I've never seen a dev team so dedicated to making the software better, implementing new features, listening to their user community and providing almost instant support. We get regular updates with bug fixes, but also new features that are requested by the community. That's very impressive! But Construct 3's new pricing model just doesn't work for anyone in a developing economy trying to make a living as a game designer. Pros Construct 3 is, by far and away, the easiest engine to develop with that I've ever worked on. It gets overlooked sometimes because it's an HTML5/Javascript engine, which doesn't always give the best performance, and it also doesn't deploy to consoles easily. But the speed at which you can develop is insane. There are a ton of resources out there, too, so you needn't start from scratch. I loved my time with Construct. Cons I am a Construct 2 perpetual business license owner. I liked that model, because it was a one-off purchase. It allowed me to predict my expenditure and not rely on making monthly payments to use my software and update my games. But for Construct 3, Scirra moved to a subscription license model and the pricing just wasn't competitive. I really wanted to continue using Construct 3, but not knowing if I'd be able to afford to continue working on my game if I didn't make the subscription payments is a deal-killer for a developer in an emerging economy like myself. They don't even offer regional-specific pricing like a lot of competitors do, so they're even less competitive when compared to the rest of the marketplace. Compared to it, Unreal engine seemed like trying to learn Japanese from a Russian professor speaking in Hindi. But the new pricing model means I'm better off learning how to use an engine that I won't be in danger of losing access to due to not making the monthly payments. Yet I also learned that good things come with a price.. Enjoying construct 3 involves you to want to do development. Since the price is NOT cheap! Pros I like how easy and fun it was to make 3D games. I especially remember trying to make a car... The physics was amazing I clicked on button on the car and it moved like a car! I've used a few development systems over the years, but C3 gets the award for the easiest to use. I did in my first night of C3 what took me 2 weeks in my other language(s)! The flexibility with the behaviours and plugins is boundless, and the continuous improvements leave you wanting more. If you have always wanted to write a game, give this a shot. Once you walk through a tutorial, you will be amazed at how easy it was! Pros Rapid prototyping: You can have a playable version of your idea quickly Adaptability: You can create a platform games, fighting game, slot machine, almost any 2D game! Updates: Updates and improvements happen almost weekly. Some additions are major. Easy: Its easy to make quite large games. Some items can be complex but that's math, not Construct 3! Cons Business: I'd love to be able to use the same tool for business apps but it doesn't easily support GUI options (Scroll bars/listboxes etc). Nor does it support SQL easily. While these aren't great leaps, it could open a huge untapped market. It IS touted a game maker but it could easily be a software dev system. Unity and Unreal have bottomless store with free assets and even free complex solutions, which you can integrate in your project just from browser. Here you have to gather\\create all content by yourself. It is bad for prototyping and takes more time\\patience than it could.- Nearly dead community. - Construct doesn't encourage user at all. Pros Utilizing construct 3 for over a year now and this software as been very straight froward an easy to use. When i am constructing my own games, me adding things like levels and games internal features has been very easy. I even explained the process of using this software to some of my friends who doesn't have a prior knowledge into game development and they found it easy to get used to this software. This software is always receiving important updates and even some bugs found are usually repaired earlier on before even the user notice it. They even have a discord community for collecting feedbacks and live reports from the users. Cons Despite the low monthly fee of 6.69 dollars per month, these can still be difficult for some people to meet up with especially the students so i wish they should come up with a special discount pricing for anyone who is a student. Pros The unique part of Construct 3 is it helps to develop game characters, levels, stages and all animations related to them with the drag and drop option which it has also their interface is so easy to navigate that even when I used it for the 1st time I understood how to work on it and develop games although I didn't have any knowledge of coding. Cons The platform is great to go and I liked this platform a lot but whenever I needed to develop complex games it lacked lots of plugins that enabled me to get premium results. When developing a game is always important to choose carefully your engine/technology. If you are a solo dev doing platformer, rpg's, shooter, metroid-vanias, this is the best engine for you. Pros I really liked Construct. I've been using it for almost 2 years and its best feature is speed for developing your projects. I can set up prototypes very fast, with almost no coding and put my game ideas to the test. In other engines it will take me over a day to only build some basic features like player physics. I've been able to create an RPG prototype in only 4 days with all of their built-in behaviors. The game engine is built over cordova and javascript to make it portable to several platforms, from Web and android, to Xbox and UWP. I've been using the engine for ludic games, educational games and mobile games and works really nice and helps me speed up my timeframe for each project, allowing me to focus on game design and art, instead of tech stuff. Cons The engine is in constant improvement, which may cause some bugs to slip in to your stable versions. The documentation of the SDK is not clear, it's hard to learn how to create custom plugins when you want to do more complex stuff.
