December 21, 2019 3.0 Pros The amount of information available is fantastic Cons Freezes a lot. Logs out randomly. Recognizes my password half the time. Its almost a guarantee that if I’m doing enforcement and I need to verify a permit for an address it will either log me out or freeze up. Such a great idea but needs some serious tuning to be worthy of the responsibility we rely on it for. Review Source GH Gary H. It makes my work a million times easier. No more tracking in an Access Database! Pros I like that I can see all the projects I need to review at once. I also love that applications can be customized. Cons I found that the process of creating an application is a little bulky. Pros Ease of customizing, changing forms, adding restrictions, altering workflow. Hassle free Cons The software operates on a parcel base-that is based on homes and addresses. Our department manages municipal assets so we deal in street/ right of way location. As well as I have direct contact with the person applying for the permit. Cons I dont like the fact that I can't make measurements to verify distances in the software. Take it or leave this review Cons Do not like the the mandatory resign in after a 24 hour period has expired. I shut down my computer at 3 pm, sign on the next day at 7 am but at some point in the 8 to 9 hour have to close out and resign in. That is just plan dumb and a pain in the backside. I am still implementing the software and in the set up stage. I like that it is accessible through the internet. December 18, 2019 5.0 Pros I like that this software has the capabilities to do many different tasks pertaining to my job. I haven't been trained on all aspects of the software as of yet, but can already tell that it can be a very helpful tool. The screens are easy to navigate and read, which makes using the software that much better. Cons Since I am unable to see what our citizens see on their end of the software, it makes it difficult for me to offer explanations of how to set up accounts, etc. Perhaps this has more to do with training in my particular workplace, but I can't seem to figure it out on my own. It also makes applicants more accountable. Pros It is easy to work with on a daily basis, reviewing and approving applications. Cons Limitations for instance, moving workflow steps in an application, being able to review history of changes to a step, and others that come up throughout the day. I do not find creating reports intuitive although I have been doing them for several months now. Reason for choosing OpenGov Permitting & Licensing No idea. Payments are much more effective and timely. The forms I previously mentioned and the training support have been less than desirable. Pros The uniformity it brings to the task of permit issuance. Cons Sign offs are clumsy and it does not easily adapt to regulations or requirements for Massachusetts. We have spent inordinate amount of time developing forms in-house. Cons Redundant zoning steps in inter-phasing with other department applications that do not require zoning approval.
