### "Comprehensive, Free, and Open-Source"

April 25, 2023

5.0

It's easy to use and quite powerful. It's very similar to Minitab, JMP, and SPSS, but much cheaper, even when you pay for their tech support.

Pros

Our team works with both programmers and non-programmers. BlueSky manages to keep both groups happy since it's easy to use, and our programmers can add their own features. Its program editor is not as comprehensive as RStudio, but its menus make it easier for most people to use. Since they added Six Sigma, quality control charts, and design of experiments, we have not needed to renew our expensive licenses for JMP and Minitab.

Cons

I wish the program editor allowed me to edit more than one R program file at a time. BlueSky lets you work with many datasets, and write to many output windows, but, oddly, they have not yet added this feature. They say it's in their development queue, so I hope the add it soon.

Reason for choosing BlueSky Statistics

For SPSS, JMP, and Minitab, it was due to cost. For JASP and jamovi, they did not offer many data management features, and we spend about 80% of our time getting data ready for analysis.

### "Well worth a test-run for teaching and learning"

May 16, 2023

5.0

Pros

Of all the menu-driven options out there that employ R under the hood, BlueSky Statistics has the most depth and breadth, and does so with the cleanest UI\\UX . Installation is a breeze but I have multiple versions of R and also had XQuartz installed so cannot speak to the experience of novice users or those with no R installation.

Cons

The challenge with all these applications is that for an intermediate or advanced users\\instructor, the learning curve is minimal because all you have to do is focus on understanding the UI\\UX. But for novices, especially those who would be challenged by base R and the IDEs out there, well, this is easier but only so much because they have to navigate many options at the same time. In some ways, it would be better to have dropdown menus that allow you to choose, for example, exploratory data analysis, and then within the EDA dropdown you see options for visual options, etc. Similarly, maybe an option for testing assumptions, and then drill-down menus that give the user options for tests appropriate to a particular situation\\need. This would also help reinforce to students the notion of when a particular test would be appropriate or inappropriate.

### "Bluesky Statistics, The Next Generation Statitistics/Data Science Software"

May 9, 2023

4.0

Last year, i set up my statistics course to use my beloved SPSS for teaching linear models, only to find that some students had licensing issues. R/Studio-was not an option as the course was too comprised for us to have time to learn codes. On exploring the options, I came across Bluesky. Installation was straightforward, and within a week of review, I decided it was the right software going forward. I have now used it to teach several other courses and the students have loved it. All I needed to do is prepare a few videos showing data formats for each technique and how to in Bluesky statistics

Pros

It is well thought out combining the best features from both SPSS and R into a single packageAnd outstanding support team with technical understanding of both the software and statistical methods.

Cons

As with all software, Bluesky is still a work in progress. I picked up a number of issues when I used for teaching, but each of them was addressed in time to not affect my teaching, eg some of the issues were implemented in version 10.2.1 within weeks of my bringing to the team attention - students were so happy with this, so was I. We noticed that different students were having different dialogues in some of the menus (eg descriptive statistics) and some of the output, but we couldn't find out why. This created few challenges during teaching. However, it is us the users who can provide feedback about issues as it is impossible to pick up all bugs in any program during testing.

### "Overall great software. "

May 14, 2023

4.0

Its great software. I will watch the development of bluesky with great interest :)

Pros

as I said earlier, It makes R language accessible to people who don’t want or cant afford time to learn. It enables people to do complex functions with R, which would require tremendous amount of time to learn coding using barebone R. Bluesky stat converts all those difficult functions into drag&drop or "tick appropriate marks" interface in order to get same or better looking results. I love this about software.

Cons

In newest version, there is some components which can be improved in my opinion. For ex.: you can drag&drop items in "repeated measures ANOVA long", but you cant do it in "repeated measures ANOVA wide". It would be nice to have "plot individual values while doing regressions, as well as theme selections for 95 confidence intervals for graphical representations of models/data. In regressions (mixed) you basically have to create formula (same as in R), which is no improvement (some stat. software still make it even easier (NCSS or Minitab) to create regression with "point&click"). Maybe you will add optional "point&click" way of regression input for people who dont want/cant write formula, while keeping formula for statisticians/tech savvy people.

### "flying in a blue sky, with clouds....."

May 9, 2023

4.0

Pros

number one: is R based! I've been using other GUIs (JASP/jamovi) but BlueSky Statistics is more "robust" in terms of presentation. This is also a good resource to teach Statistics.

Cons

You took away the Market Basket Analysis, why??? I miss some other features like SEM (both CB-SEM and PLS-SEM), the oldest version was much more interesting in terms of get add-ons, to be honest I don't even know if you guys are providing add-ons in this new version. the menus are somehow confused, you need to be a little bit savvy on data analysis to use it, and this is not good comparing to others GUIs. I know the future is bright and you are working hard on it, but there's some easy changes like a more intuitive menu that will save you time on development.

### "Best at the simplicity of window menu operation and the code practice"

May 13, 2023

5.0

It is very easy to conduct regression models like E-Views and SPSS and also can conduct as R code. The best experience is that BlueSky Statistics provides the R codes when you use the menu operation. Two ways are better than only one!

Pros

This software is very good at integrating the simplicity of window menu operation and the practicability of coding, which can meet the needs of statistics enthusiasts of different degrees.

Cons

sometimes the menu operation needs to be updated to the latest development in statistical technologies.

Reason for choosing BlueSky Statistics

Because it combines the advantages of menu operation and R Code.

### "BlueSky Statistics Review"

May 11, 2023

5.0

Pros

BlueSky Statistics is incredibly easy to learn and use for individuals new to statistics, and has a nearly exhaustive suite of advanced statistical analyses for more experienced users. For me, using BlueSky Statistics is akin to using a combination of R and SPSS, which is exactly what I am looking for in a statistical analysis software. I have used the program for approximately one year now and intend to continue using it for the foreseeable future.

Cons

Mediation/Moderation/Hayes models are missing or need improvement. Additionally, I have attempted to convert some of my BlueSky outputs to R markdown documents, but have yet to be able to get them to run in R. The error messages say that particular packages are required, however when I attempt to download them in R, they are not available for download from CRAN. Subsequently, I would appreciate more seamless integration with R.

### "Excellent Statistical Software that is Absolutely Free"

May 3, 2023

4.0

I have a very positive experience as a professor who teaches data analytics and statistics.

Pros

Being free and open source Runs on the most powerful R language Feature rich than all other alternatives Can quickly learn and teachCan run R commands directlyVery easy to install more R packages and manage them

Cons

It takes time to start and sometimes get stuckA comprehensive user guide that could be downloaded would be nice rather than an online version...If the running of commands could be speedier it would be nice...If structural equation modelling is present, it would be nice...

Reason for choosing BlueSky Statistics

It is free...

### "Experience with bluesky statistics "

May 9, 2023

3.0

Pros

The fact that Bluesky offers multiple statistical options freely was impressive to me.

Cons

Seriously, I prefer the version 7 series to this newer but less intuitive version 10. For example, I was sad to realise that the HISTORY function in the 7 series was removed from the 10 series making it cumbersome when you need to recall previously used functions. Also, unlike the 7 series, you need to scroll to select a variable among a long list of variables during analysis; this makes me find the 10 series less easier to use than the 7 series. Presently, I am using the 7.50 version rather than the version 10 (although I have the 2 on my laptops)

### "Mostly satisfied but there is a room for improvement."

May 8, 2023

4.0

Pros

Easy to introduce statistics to undergraduates with this rather than to teach them R code at first.

Cons

\- There should be a way to directly paste from spreadsheet applications.- It would be better if output is more interactive that we can manipulate it further. For example, I can calculate the regression equation, but I need to rewrite it into editor to use it for prediction or whatever. This is not cool.- The user interface can be any enemy sometimes. I struggle to set it up with smaller displays.

### "No focussed tutorials"

May 12, 2023

3.0

I have been using Jamovi and that was a fairly steep learning curve to work out how to format the data correctly, but this Blue Sky program is even more user unfriendly. It is extremely unclear how to use it. You really need to get some bench scientists to use this and guide them so they can make a normal persons guide on how to do it because at this point it is too opaque. Really you need to look at how Prism works and use that as a template. They really know how to make statistics accessible - it is just a shame it is so expensive.

Pros

It is free - where as SPSS, Prism and the other are very expensive

Cons

It is too complicated to use and there are no useful tutorials. All these programs are designed with Psychology or business analysis in mind. I can never find a clear and simple viseo or written tutorial for how to enter the type of data I obtain in medical/scientific research. For example I want to make a 3 x 3 contingency table where the columns are a score 0, 1, 2, and the rows are a different score 0, 1, 2 and each set of factors contains the numbers of cases that conform to the score of 0/0 or 0/1 etc etc then do a Chi Sq. There is no simple video that explains how to do this anywhere. there are no simple example datasets I can load in to see how to format the data.

### "Bluesky software, a tool for easy analysis."

May 2, 2023

4.0

To implement some univariate analysis this software is very good and very easy to run these analysis. But we need more options in visualisation of multivariate analysis.

Pros

It's very easy to use, and also the fact that it integrate ggplot2 visualisation for graph and plot.

Cons

The fact that it's not possible to run some multivariate analysis as CCA, PCA, RDA...which are very important in data analysis.

### "Worth learning"

May 8, 2023

4.0

I was daunted by the challenge of learning statistical analysis, BlueSky made that challenge more approachable and allowed me more time to work on leveraging the results rather than agonizing on how to achieve them.

Pros

BlueSky's point and click model allowed me to create statistical analysis that would require very sophisticated programming skills. I'm not a programmer and didn't want to try and become one. Also, the support was pretty incredible. I had a problem, I reached out to the support team and I was on several calls while they helped me figure out my mistakes and we even found a small bug what was quickly patched. Awesome support.

Cons

I didn't love BlueSky on a Mac, I feel like the PC user community might have an easier time with the tool
