### "Good but pricey product"

February 22, 2021

4.0

This software helps me understand various sectors as a corporate development professional. While expensive, it has proved very useful for my team.

Pros

I like the ability to create reports for specific industries and save them. I also like that the software will suggest competitors automatically.

Cons

The price is quite steep compared to other similar platforms. Also the funding data sometimes seems to be out of date. Pitchbook works with insider contacts to get this data, so I'm wondering if their network of contacts has recently declined.

### "Positive report on Pitchbook"

June 26, 2025

5.0

Pitchbook is a a very strong product although with some inflexibility in the financial mode. Market research is a bit weak on emerging and frontier markets which I am involved in.

Pros

Deep market research, investor database and updated modelling. Fixed Income research and product information is very strong.

Cons

The fees are bit opaque and inability to pay monthly. I would like to see a financing model for smaller companies.

### "Strong Value for Research and Insights"

April 22, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with PitchBook has been very positive. It’s easy to use and helps me stay organized, especially with saving lists and managing data. The dashboard makes it simple to find what I need, and customer support has been very helpful whenever I have questions. Sometimes the number of reports can feel a bit overwhelming, but overall it’s a really useful tool for research and insights.

Pros

The Dashboard is intuitive and easy to use, I like that i can save my lists for easy data management when i need to revisit my work. The customer support is awesome and there is always someone to assist. The features are great and i truly feel the value for my money.

Cons

In the research report section sometimes it hard to keep up Too many reports can be overwhelming: The volume of reports and data views can make it harder to quickly find the most relevant insights.

### "Misleading “Free Trial” and Unethical Practices"

March 5, 2025

1.0

I recently came across PitchBook after seeing they offered a “Free Trial Before You Buy.” My initial excitement quickly turned into disappointment and frustration. From the moment I showed interest, I was bombarded by sales representatives who flat-out told me that they do not actually offer a free trial. Their justification? They claim that their platform contains “confidential information” and therefore cannot be risked in a free trial environment. This contradictory stance—advertising a free trial and then insisting they don’t provide one—seems completely unethical. If a company truly values transparency and credibility, why mislead potential customers with a promotion that doesn’t exist? It makes one seriously question the authenticity of the data they claim to have and whether it’s really “confidential” at all. The entire experience left me doubting the caliber of their information and the honesty of their customer approach.

Pros

I don't like company that have non ethical approach

Cons

In my opinion, if PitchBook can’t be upfront about something as simple as a free trial, how can anyone be confident in any of their other claims or data? It’s a red flag for any business relationship. Save yourself the time, effort, and frustration, and look for more trustworthy platforms that actually deliver what they promise.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear that you were left feeling frustrated—that’s certainly not the experience we aim to deliver. To clarify: PitchBook does offer trial experiences, but because our platform contains proprietary and confidential data, we tailor trial access based on prospective clients’ specific needs. Instead of a generic free trial, we often recommend customized demonstrations or tailored access that better reflect the insights and functionality most relevant to each organization. We understand that clear communication is important and are continuously working to make sure our messaging reflects our process as transparently as possible. We appreciate your feedback—it helps us continue to improve and deliver the best experience for those evaluating PitchBook.

### "Great PitchBook Experience"

April 21, 2026

5.0

Overall positive. I enjoy using it and haven't had a reason to switch out as of now. I've heard Crunchbase and some other upstarts can potentially deliver similar private market data so may reevaluate when it comes to renewal.

Pros

Very easy to use. User interface is accessible. Menus are well laid out. It's great having access to industry reports from analysts as well as public and private market data laid out in a way that's easy to access and quick to pull data from. Graphs and charts are great as well and easy to reference. Haven't had a reason to use customer support, but they've been very responsive and quick to respond. Payment processing was flexible and didn't encounter any issues there.

Cons

Price is very high. Even negotiating it down from the initial offer, it's still very expensive. I understand that they're working with enterprise clients and that they're the industry leader with little competition.

### "Amazing platform for Private Markets!"

Amazing platform! highly recommend for Private Equity and Fund Investors. I believe the platform is exceptional for all asset classes but I am utilizing mainly for private equity investments.

Pros

Great analysis about Industry, great research reports, investor's intelligence and even financial analysis for listed entities

Cons

We require alot to screen through details. Maybe it will be helpful to include an Ai chatbot that can summarize 20-25 research documents in one page and additional usage integrating research with AI tools

Pros

I like how you can find peoples emails. Very handy for investor outreach. I used the screening feature as well which is quite intuitive.

Cons

### "Tool for VC Diligence and Market Intelligence"

July 10, 2025

4.0

Overall, PitchBook has been a valuable tool in our venture capital workflow, particularly for sourcing, market mapping, and benchmarking. While it takes some time to get fully comfortable with the interface, the platform offers strong support and training. Despite occasional gaps in early-stage data, it remains one of the most comprehensive resources available for private market intelligence.

Pros

PitchBook has a good range of data, especially for growth-stage private companies and it has become a crucial part of our VC workflow. The support team is also responsive and helpful. The training on offer is really beneficial.

Cons

The UI can be a bit clunky at times and so some training is needed. Some of the data for early stage companies can be missing which can be frustrating for pre-seed due diligence.

### "Valuable Platform, with Cost and Training as the Key Considerations"

April 28, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with PitchBook has been very positive. The platform provides timely and relevant information, is easy to use, and allows users to filter, analyse, and export data in a way that supports both internal research and client-facing work. The customer support is generally very good, particularly when working with the more experienced or proactive members of the team. PitchBook is a tool I would very much recommend to others, especially for organisations focused on investment intelligence, company research, market mapping, and lead generation. The only real hesitation I would have is around price. It is a high-quality platform, but it is also a significant investment. For that reason, continued training, stronger account engagement, and more proactive support in helping users maximise the platform would make the value proposition even stronger. Overall, I would describe my experience as highly positive.

Pros

PitchBook provides timely, high-quality information, particularly around funding announcements, company signals, investor activity, and market developments. The platform is generally kept very up to date, which makes it extremely valuable for research, lead generation, and market monitoring. I also value the ability to manipulate and filter data directly within the platform before exporting it into Excel. This makes it much easier to process information, build target lists, and adapt the data for internal analysis or client-facing outputs. The customer support is also a strong point, particularly when it comes to research-related queries. Some members of the support team are exceptional and go above and beyond to help identify solutions, explain functionality, or support more complex research needs. There can be some variation in the level of support depending on who is assisting, but when the support is strong, it is genuinely excellent.

Cons

The main challenge with PitchBook is the cost. It is an expensive product, and there are a number of competing platforms in the market that are actively approaching firms like ours, particularly because they know we are existing PitchBook users. As a business, we are always looking for efficiencies and ways to improve our bottom line, so price is inevitably a key consideration. While the tool itself is very strong, I also feel that we may not always be using it to its full potential. More structured training would be very welcome, particularly sessions offered on a quarterly or twice-yearly basis. This would help ensure users remain up to date with new features, better understand advanced search and workflow capabilities, and get more value from the platform. There is also some inconsistency in customer support. Some individuals are outstanding, while others can be slower to respond or less able to support more detailed requests. At times, I have been told something is not possible, only to later find another member of the team who is able to help with that same issue. Greater consistency across the support experience would improve the overall value of the service.

Switched from

[Crunchbase](https://www.capterra.com/p/231890/Crunchbase/)

One important point is that we originally switched from Crunchbase to PitchBook because I had used PitchBook extensively in a previous firm and made a strong internal case for its value. At the time, PitchBook also offered a very competitive firm-wide package, which made the decision much easier. However, the competitive landscape has changed. Over the last two years, Crunchbase has significantly improved its platform, including the timeliness of its information and the breadth of its company intelligence. It has also adopted many features that previously made PitchBook stand out. At the same time, PitchBook has become increasingly expensive, while Crunchbase appears to be offering a more competitive pricing model, including discounts for wider user access. This is important because, while PitchBook remains a very strong platform, we are now actively reviewing whether it continues to offer the best value for our firm. The decision is not simply about functionality, as PitchBook remains highly capable, but about whether the price point continues to be justified relative to the improvements being made by competing platforms.

### "Fix the data download "

April 28, 2026

5.0

Overall experience is great. easy and quick to understand, easy to pull data, no latency issues. The only pain point I have is the downloading excel files with merged cells.

Pros

I like the excel took, which makes pulling information easy. very useful! Th UI is easy to use as well.

Cons

I don't like the way data downloads work. the excel files downloaded form the pivot tool within the pitchbook are not easy to manipulate as they have tons of merged cells, that are of different size and etc.

### "Great service and data provider"

April 28, 2026

4.0

The site is easy to navigate, and the data sets are relevant (I use mostly the LCD material). I would recommend it for this purpose 100%.

Pros

Customer support is great - I had multiple interactions with the support team. Always timely and helpful.

Cons

The contact information for LPs is not kept current. This makes the tool less useful from a capital raising perspective.

### "Good user interface, pricey"

June 27, 2025

4.0

The experience itself is superb and the prefered datasite (because of the abovementioned reasons). But we have a criticism, as this is pricey and need to use another platform for that reason.

Pros

Pitchbook, compared to other Service/Data Providers, has a very intuitiv and easy to understand user-interface.

Cons

As far as I am aware of - as I get the service form my company - it is very pricey. Even though it is already pricey, they now even increase the prices and limit users.

July 2, 2025

It's good I actually read most of the mails! This is very unusual as I get a lot of mails from various sources in the equity Arena.

Pros

It market insight and expertise. I also like the seminars. I like very much that it's a global approach that pitch book has taken in combination with local – regional specific.

Cons

The newsletter comes out very often. And therefore, I seldom have time to read all of the mails and it's hard to select which one is most relevant for me at a glance.

I am a big fan of pitchbook - I find myself using it for personal curiosity as much as I leverage it professionally.

Pros

Cons

Good - also the customer service is timely and responsive, as I wanted to watch a specific training video which was unavailable due to a technical error. While the error was being fixed, I was sent the video to watch.

Pros

For me, the most useful feature was getting company information, particularly on the financial / legal advisers of a company on particular deals. It was easy enough to navigate without much training, and no bugs.

Cons

That it was difficult to export content in a digestible manner to those without a subscription - only via hyperlinks.

### "Excellent source for identifying rising stars and emerging sectors"

December 17, 2021

5.0

one word: Excellent. that applies to content as well as customer service

Pros

Pitchbook is the perfect data source for identifying potential targets, especially startups and rising stars. it has over 3.3 million companies. It is also one of the best source for M&A deals and funding. The database is very intuitive to use as it the layout is clean and easy to navigate. the screening criteria are very well thought through and therefore make it easy to narrow down search. it's also very easy to download the data into many formats including Excel and PDF. In addition to company financials, the Market Analysis section is packed with vertical/sector news, trends as well as market sizing. they source their data from a variety of reputable sources. The focus on emerging topics and sectors is very good. You can also set up alerts to follow your preferred list of companies and verticals.

Cons

It would be ideal if the market reports are also linked to a company search, so when I search for a company, I can also see which reports it was mentioned in
