Very good. I use to track my clients when they are mentioned in the press. A simple email with the roundup of the latest mentions is easy to track.

Pros

Easy to use. You can choose how often you get your alerts (as it happens, daily, weekly, etc). Very simple to use and update your preferences. It's helpful to be able to have different preferences (i.e. receiving the alert) for different alerts.

Cons

Nothing. It makes tracking press hits for clients much easier than having to do a google search every single day.

Overall, Google Alerts is a very easy to set up, turn it on and forget it, and you'll see results!

Pros

I like how it was easy to set this up to be able to receive alerts for my different stores; it makes it easy to stay connected with the press releases and events that we are putting out there, for Google Alerts to tell us that it's done.

Cons

I don't love how hit or miss it is. Sometimes I get the alerts, other times I don't. Sometimes it's an exact match to what I'm looking for, other times it's not.

Pros

I like how easy it is to use Google alerts and how they help me keep an eye on important industry players and news with their reports, which are conveniently delivered to my email.

Cons

The fact that sometimes I receive a bunch of links that have the keywords on them but have nothing to do with my objective - the filtering capabilities are a little limited.

Though I'm sure this isn't what the alert is meant for, it would be nice to be able to filter through when there are thousands of search results on the topic, or alert, of your choice. Overall, I'd recommend this for businesses that want to track data or changes surrounding your area of expertise. If you're more focused on alerts on a specific person, I'd recommend this but only because it's integrated into Google and it still does the (general) job for what I need.

Pros

I loved how I would get notifications via email whenever anything is posted about whatever alert I have it set on. For instance, my name is set as an alert which I've received regarding myself but also for others with the same name. I always like to know if something is posted about me, I can report it as soon as it happens. It's helpful when you want to know if anything gets posted about you. For business purposes, this would definitely be helpful to track down what people are saying online (not just reviews) about your business.

Cons

You can't really customize the alert much. It only goes off text which isn't bad per say but it would be nice to have a functionality to customize the alert (i.e. adding the alert when a location AND "topic" is mentioned or the "topic" or stuff like this).

Overall my experience with Google Alerts has been good! It has allowed me to stay on top of my job hunting.

Pros

I like that this product is free, first of all. I like that I am able to set push notifications that alert me whenever a new job in my area is posted. This saves me time as I do not have to do multiple searches. Push notifications ensure that I am alerted the moment a new job is posted online, bettering my chances of being one of the first people to apply.

Cons

It is limited in that jobs have to be posted to Google in order for me to recieve an alert. For example, if a local company posts a job on Craigslist but not on Google jobs, I won't get an alert.

Pros

Google Alerts, which is free to use, are send when people are talking about your company or a specific colleague or a particular keyword you want to follow. It is really user-friendly for most of the basic parts. It does not take more than a few mins to set up the alerts system to keep track trends of a company.

Cons

The least feature of this software would be data, which is not always complete specially with press mentions are missed most often.

I love this software. We love to see articles/content that are relevant to our business circling the Internet, and Google Alerts allows us to do just that without the hassle of searching for them.

Pros

Any time something relevant to my workspace is filtered through my Google Alerts, I'm able to see content that I care about without having to search for it.

Cons

Occasionally, I will receive things that aren't quite as relevant as I'd like them to be based on my filters.

I've been using google alerts for quite some time now. These alerts allows me to stay up to date with what is in the media for my agency across the nation. The process is easy, set the alert and enjoy the emails that come directly to your email.

Cons

The only Con is that you must be specific about what context you want to receive information on otherwise you will get information about things you didn't really want.

It's just a good, simple product, and it does exactly what I need it to do without too many issues. Besides the time and effort it takes to fine tune, it really is great.

Pros

When checking on subjects or business prospects that matter to you, Google alerts helps you to find more about those things, or find out the latest news. Great for keeping an eye on your company, your competitors, and everything in between.

Cons

It can take some time to get the scope of the alerts right. Sometimes it's too broad and you can get way too many hits and emails. Going too narrow means you miss important things. It's a fine balance, and it can take some time, but it does work.

Easy to use, great for writers that want to follow a topic, and for folks concerned about content being written about them.

Pros

Its a very easy yo use set it and forget it program. You just pick the topics you want to track, and wait for the results to come in.

Cons

Not much negative to say, other than if you want to make changes, it may take some searching to find the site and make changes.

Pros

This Google product is WOW! Fantastic to set keywords and have everything delivered on your email. I love this product and I'm recommending it to friends and relatives.

Cons

Nothing really. Very easy to set and use. It's all automated. Great piece of software. Extremely happy with it.

Very easy to set up and use. Great for managing day to day tasks, in level of priority, as well as meetings.

Pros

Love being able to schedule my entire workday on the basis of priority, with alerts that never allow me to forget important meetings or tasks.

Cons

Easy to use, but every once in a while the alert doesn't pop up, so I miss a task until I go into my account and find it.

I need to track various job postings and I do not want to check all the websites everyday so I use this app for that purpose and it does a fascinating job!

Pros

The fact that you can almost put alert on everything you need. Google has a huge database, so they know what you need and this alert is the perfect tool to track for example various job postings you need.

Cons

There is not negative side to this tool. Maybe have this feature to be accessible easier in cellphone would be a great improvement.

I signed up for Google Alerts just to monitor my blog's mentions. I do know the service allows much much broader opportunities and I hope trying them in the future.

Pros

Google Alerts sends me notifications each time my blog's name is mentioned somewhere on the web. It is very important so I can thank people who left a nice mention or learn some important info, if the mention was negative.

Cons

I wish there were some more set up options like gel or language variations for keywords as sometime alerts I receive have no relation to my blog.

Pros

I use Google Alerts for a variety of purposes for my small online business. Anything I need to know about regarding specific products, companies and people that are relevant to my business, I can create a Google Alert and be notified on the frequency I select.

Cons

Nothing really. Sometimes I get irrelevant alerts which I just ignore.
