I've been a Gmail user since it was in beta but funny thing is that Gmail was in beta for 5 years. Since 2008, I've been a fan of Gmail. The big thing that keeps me with Gmail is the whole Google thing and how Gmail is tied to it all. Pros It is connected to the Google ecosystem. Google chat, calendar and the list goes on. Oh and the price is free for much of the basics Gmail offers, with an option to upgrade. Cons Most software these days that offers a free tier, like Google does with Gmail and other free products from Google, the customer is, in Google's mind, the product. This is not a big deal for me but it is worth knowing. Oh and there is the privacy thing but that also is not an issue for me but it is good to know. I enjoy using it personally and professionally. Pros Being able to use the same product at work and in your personal life is great. I only need one app on my phone and I can seamlessly switch to what I need. Cons We pay for a relatively high tier of Google Workspace service and there is no built-in functionality to manage shared inboxes. What a fail on Google's part. We have to use a third party service (we currently use Hiver) to add functionality that should be built in. May 5, 2025 5.0 Use Gmail every single day for personal accounts of all varieties. It is my standard go-to email service for signing up to basically everything. I'll typically make different accounts for various use-cases to separate out my online presence, and gmail makes this very easy as I can set up new accounts and switch between them with ease. Pros Free, easy to use, large amount of storage, can set up and switch between multiple accounts effortlessly. Cons Constant reminders to set up 2FA or set other security protocol is understandable but annoying when switching between a decent number of accounts. May 12, 2025 5.0 Overall, I am very happy with Gmail. My Pros and cons really sum up my experience. I love the integrated features with other Google products as well as other software. I like the easy to use interface. I have zero complaints except for the storage capacity of Drive affecting email delivery, although I do get that they are all the same server space per account, so I can live with it from understanding the business perspective. Pros I use Gmail on a daily basis for work and personal emails. When I am setting a client business up, I set them up with a Google and Gmail account immediately. Gmail makes life a lot easier. I like how you can customize the interface and use it like the old school email programs, but through the web. It's easy to use, reliable and comfortable. I love how it is compatible and extendable to and from other software and you can use IMAP/SMTP/POP accounts as well. it really is a one stop solution for many communication tasks. I like the interfaces between chat and meeting programs as well. I like the feature of being able to access a shared file too large for email, through Google Drive Sharing. Cons I really don't have many issues but one I do have is that when your Google Drive is full, your email will stop after a certain time. I understand from a business perspective but I really don't like it. I would also prefer an easier way to move folders to other folders besides through the right click menu. You can change the tags but not move things easily.
