Student Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Fast mail service and easy to use" December 16, 2021 5.0 Overall I use it for my daily activities, exchanging messages with my teachers, classmates and never had any problem. The servers are practically always up. The overall feel and looks of the app are good. I really like it although some more customization would be nice. Pros I do get the notifications in the phone app wich generally i miss with other mail apps. The spam is organices well and pretty much always sorts it well. I like that i can switch to any of my accounts however i like not having to log in again and again. Ads aren't invasive at all. Cons Perhaps some security to enter the app on cell phone would make the app better. It could be a PIN that you set when you download the app (and after you log in), or even, entering with biometrics. I do have my PIN set on my phone but having the option for some extra security could be nice. And i would also like a better way to view the folders. Also we can block those malicious messages for our safety. Pros What i like most about this software is that you can relax and you're secured. You don't have to worry too much and also it is very accessible and useful for daily using. I can't leave without my Gmail. I put everything that is important to me in Gmail since i can trust the security and I am always updated thanks to Gmail. Cons I have no say to Gmail. And yeah, it has got some issues, but when you get use to it, it doesn't even feel like a problem, because it's nothing compared to its quality. It's easy to use for young and old people, and it's a way to redeem your internet identity. 'Cause you know, here is where everyone leave those embarrassing email addresses from their emo, techno or teenage years behind and take it seriously (lol). Pros So, good points about Gmail: -Being part of the Google ecosystem, your same account can be used in many other apps automatically. - Its interface is customizable, so you can have your institutional colors, background, and more in here. A very nice touch. And if you use it for yourself, it can be cool to. - It's very intuitive, so you won't have trouble getting what "Primary", "Social", "Promotions", and "Spam" sections are about and what to expect. - You can check you're whole history of recent mails received by the same addresses everytime you open a single mail. - It's quick to use despite using it on pc, tablet or smartphone. - IT'S FREE. Cons What I don't like much about Gmail: - Spam filter can sometimes be radical and send actually important content to this section. So you should be constantly checking when you notice the spam counter augmented. - Before I wrote I liked the idea of having an email as a part of a whole ecosystem. However, its kind of frustrating everytime you try to send heavy archives like videos and then the only way to attach this file is by using Google drive. Which can be later a problem if the ones who receive your mail are not into Drive or can't open it or it's not installed on their devices, or maybe they cannot see it because you also have to edit the archive from Drive so it can be seen by others. Not so efficient! - I know Google takes it seriously when it comes to protect your information. But sometimes it's just kind of toooo much. Pros The ease of use and being a standard mail provider makes ir super easy for everybody involved. The indexation of labels and sub labels makes organizing your inbox really easy and keep everything in place and easy to find. For small business and startups it's great, also giving you scalability upon growth with gmail for business. Also recommended!! Cons The only con I find is that it becomes pretty addictive if you use it for work, like my self. I find myself checking 25 accounts several times a day, specially if I'm waiting for an important mail or an asap request from clients. But it's more a con of myself than gmail. However, it also has its downside. Unlike other new application that caters bigger screen to write their messages. Gmail has limited space which for me as a user I find difficulty in reviewing my composed messages, especially if it's long, you have to scroll it down to see it all. Moreover, when it comes to sending attachments such as docs, excel, pictures and etc. It has its own limitations. You can send several files in one email, but only small files. Pros What I liked the most about Gmail is the integration between Desktop and Smartphone, Gmail works so well with android phones that I sometime get notification first on my phone before my desktop even rings I have a new mail. There is also a lot of add-ins in their marketplace which allows Gmail to a great collaborator for other software. Cons The fact that Gmail still doesn't have a desktop version for Windows is what makes me use this provider less than anticipated. Right now, I can still be able to access the files I sent and sent to me ten years ago, and still be able to download them for present and future uses. I find it very interesting how this software has improved a lot, with limited access before, now to more advanced use. Pros Being able to access and search emails easily is very helpful to me as a teacher. It helps me save time in searching for the messages I need. With the use of the search options, I can filter and get exactly what I want. Since I receive many emails every day, especially from my students, I can immediately address their concerns by searching their name or the email's subject. I also like the auto-reply feature of this software. I no longer need to worry. It will be able to attend right away to the concern of my students or co-teachers because it has a smart, automated response (which can be customized) that will send to them the moment they send a message. Another good thing is that it is compatible in every device. Also, mails are categorized and unwanted/harmful mails are blocked and sent to the spam folder. Another good thing is that it is easy to search for a previously received email and all the searched mails loads up in seconds. Also, we can block certain email address ourselves to stop receiving mails from that address. Another thing I liked about Gmail is that it is extremely easy to switch from one gmail account to the another and is beneficial for those having more than one gmail account. Cons The thing I disliked about gmail is that it is difficult to keep track of those contacts with whom I send or receive mail on a daily basis.
