Editing videos can be a challenge if you are not familiar with the process. Music is also pretty decent, you just have to dig a little bit to find the right vibe for the content. Overall a fantastic tool, very user friendly, and can produce a professional piece of content in a quick amount of time. Pros Clipchamp is free to use which is always a bonus and it’s pretty user friendly. Has lots of transitions and features that make it fairly easier for even a novice to be able to edit a solid clip. Cons While it is a professional tool, I would like there to be some more options available especially for extra designs that can be added to your videos. Such as texts, overlays, and images that can be included into your clips. It is owned by Microsoft. I explored and used this software when i first got my hands on my new laptop. It is a very good user friendly interface for beginners.You can create unlimited videos and incorporate stock images as well but it has limited features. Pros It is built in most of the windows systems . It is a free quick video editing where you can do your basic editing like adding music, adding different pictures and video clips for yourself. You get plenty of templates , music choices to choose from if you are using any video editing software for the first time Cons You cant do some important basic operations like increasing the brightness , exposure etc. You will have to buy a premium version later to get rid of watermark ,to access some premium features like a few transitions , music choices and more. There is no longer any online help so you are on your own. Not worth paying for as there are better options out there. Pros Has some good features and I get a few extra for paying monthly for Microsoft Word package. Cons Has a number of major flaws of which the Clipchamp tech team have long been aware and done little to address. The most annoying and time consuming is trying to keep the dialogue and other adds on with the images when you change anything. Everything falls out of sync if you change image size or move stuff around. Gaps appear elsewhere and a lot of transitions just disappear. To restore all this takes hours and hours and you become nervous about changing anything. Advice...keep your video simple and short. The other most devastating experience is when your pictures disappear because you haven't gone to the paid Premium version where there is a picture back up and this does not happen. Bit of a con. November 19, 2024 3.0 I am a graphic designer and I make posters for my clients, some times they ask me for animated versions to use in their social media pages, but for those to be profitable I need to have a fast turnaround with minimal times spent on creating that video. Here is where I found out about Clipchamp, I export 4-5 elements from my poster design and the poster itself and with a bit of clever usage of transitions I animate them to make something nice but fast. And here comes the problem, there are not much you can do with your elements, let's say you import a static png, you know what would be very cool? To animate it, in a simple way like making it move from place A to B! Pretty simple right? I mean you do simple animation like this even in power point presentations. But here this functionality doesn't exist and it is sad, because the only way to move elements around is by doing some workaround with transition from a blank image to your image and hope it covers the movement you want to make. In general there could be a lot more tools that could make it great without making it difficult. I don't expect Resolve, but come one... look at CapCut, this is how you do it right. Pros Easy to create simple reels or stories or simple videos without much fanfare. I essentially use it for basic video cropping to decrease file size and also to chance video file types so that they are compatible with the software I use for editing. Pros I love that you can change the file type of a video with this software. This is one of the only softwares I have access to that will allow me to do this and it’s a game changer. It would be amazing if it there were higher level editing tools like background remove and an eraser tool, but I realize that would probably knock it into a higher cost tier. Pros I've been using Climpchap for over 5 years now, and it has consistently been functional and user-friendly. I use it for screen recording, audio, and camera capture, and the templates are incredibly useful and practical. I have the free version, and all the features are easy to use and of excellent quality. The download options even go up to 1080p HD. I've seen the platform evolve and improve every day. The first time I used it was at work to add subtitles to some brand videos, and since then, I discovered it was much more than just adding titles. It's about trimming, merging, editing, and creating high-quality videos. For example, all my courses and promotional videos have been designed with Climpchap—if that isn't amazing! Sometimes I try other applications, but then I remember how easy my life is with Climpchap and continue using it. So far, I haven't needed to use any other apps. Cons One important consideration for those just starting with this platform is that to ensure optimal performance, your computer should have good storage capacity. Good at handling short video formats but you may have trouble editing longer projects. Greatly recommend to people needing a video editing tool that can run on most computers (especially Chromebooks)but don't recommend for professionals looking for features that allow for minute control over the video or animations etc. Pros As a browser video editing tool being able to edit videos with basic effects and overlays is great excellent for short projects with little editing needed or for home projects. It is fairly intuitive to use but does require a good Wi-Fi connection to make the best use out of it. The timeline was easy to scrub through and from my experience computer hardware was not an issue at all (I could run it on a basic laptop pretty easily). With that in mind, this may be a useful tool for people using Chromebooks. Cons Being a subscription model software, I would not recommend it to anyone who will not be using it regularly. In terms of cost, it is a lot cheaper than other video editing tools if you don't account for the recurring subscription costs. If you are using it for one or two projects, subscription cancellation is fairly easy so subscribing for one or two months is not an issue. A major downside to this service/software is that it is entirely online so you need to upload all the assets you need and there is no offline editing capabilities. There is also limited features. We have been uploading videos to Instagram and Facebook and have had comments on the good production which we often tell them it is with clip champ. Pros I liked how easy it was to sign up to the program. Often I have trouble with multiple accounts and email addresses but it seemed easy enough on Clipchamp. The most used feature for my business is the mobile upload as we often take videos on the ground and I want my employees to always be capturing footage. They don't mind when they know it is easy enough to get uploaded to our program for future editing. Cons I think they could improve on the pricing. Maybe some discounted tiers for smaller businesses. Although as we increase the volume of our videos maybe we will consider a higher tier. Pros I liked that it is pretty simple and easy to learn how to use quickly. The templates are great because you have a storyboard structure to get you started then you change it up as needed. The stock image and video pool is also extensive and high quality. It's also nice that it's completely functional as a web app and doesn't require downloading anything extra onto your computer. Cons The only real downside I found was that there were regular issues rendering the final files when you import your own footage instead of using the stock footage. Considering this, it's better to rely on if you're using primarily their pre-uploaded assets.
