Before we started putting our information in ESM we simply didn't have a good overview and collaboration between departments was hard. The system has given us a view of the larger cross departmental picture of the organization and made it easier to agree on issues, follow up on the state of our compliance work and get an overview of work to be done. Pros It's a comprehensive tool to map our processes, information objects and systems while providing visualization of it all, in a way that is easy to understand and collaborate around. My favourite feature is probably the visualization of relationships with graphs, but lately also to way we can easily follow up on compliance and reporting. Too many exceptions in the real world but overall a good product. Pros It is stable and you get a good overview of all processes and a good understanding of how many processes there are. Cons It is stable but it takes some time to learn. Not very intuitive. I can see that you have some issues with the ease-of-use of ESM and doesn't find our product very intuitive. The product is very flexible and you decide where to start, either with the processes or the systems and information. In the end everything will come together to create a great view of your information assets from an information security perspective. Everyone should use it to contribute to the security health of the organisation. Cons I tested it in an early state and guess a lot more features have been released since then. But I think features such as searching and exporting data and maybe integration with other systems for issue tracking etc would be very beneficial. It is of great value for us as we need to provide value for users. It is interesting that you, being a user from the financial industry, mention the functionality for simple process modelling as well as modelling security architecture and IT-applications, as this is a requirement in many financial regulative frameworks. Hopefully you will also test our upcoming module for the Financial market where we include EBA:s guidelines (sourcing and security and risk management), PCI-DSS, Swedish Financial Supervisory regulations etc. ESM can also be used for importing standards and regulative requirements of your own, e.g. if your organisation uses CSA Cloud COntrol Matrix, it is possible to import this into ESM and to integrate it with the information security architecture.
