Pros One of the biggest advantages is how quickly it scans and classifies large file shares. Pros the feature I like the most is how it automatically finds outdated , duplicate, and unnecessary files . in our day to day work , we create a huge number of files and over time they can made cloud storage messy . Netwrix regularly scans our repositories , identifies old or low value data , adds the right tags and takes the required action automatically. Cons The biggest downside is troubleshooting when a file is skipped or tagged incorrectly . figuring out what went wrong usually means checking workflows , going through logs and manually verifying the process which can be quite technical . because of that our team often has to ask the IT team for help whenever a file is misclassified or doesn't get tagged as expected. Although it still remains heavily IT centric and taxonomy rules can be rigid at times. Pros The automatic identification and cleanup of obsolete & trivial data is my favorite aspect. During routine works we generate a lot of files and over time this unstructured data clogs our file servers, Netwrix ensures that it scans our massive cloud repositories, locate outdated data and automatically attach relevant tags and take action without any manual intervention. Cons When a file gets skipped or misclassified, the troubleshooting process feels incredibly technical and inaccessible. To fix that, we have to dig in the workflows, logs and manually run checks why it happened. The NDC website is easy navigate, very responsive. I love it, we've been using it about 8 years now. No complaints. Pros first and foremost. Customer Support, most companies make it a pretty painful experience but anytime I call Netwrix for any of their products they're always friendly, knowledgeable and and eager to help. Netwrix Data Classification has been an instrumental part of our security, being able to run reports on where all our sensitive data lives in a reliable and easy to read way helps keep our data safe. Cons Analysis > Search tab could use some work. We sometimes use it to find specific files when a user loses it. Having more filters in there would help. With this information, we are then able to restrict access to those items that shouldn't have had such broad permissions. Audits are much less arduous because we no longer have to frantically search for where the at-risk data exists. Pros We were able to reclaim actual disk space versus making educated guesses on what we could safely delete. In addition, it identifies folders containing PHI (Patient Health Information) which is huge for us. Before this tool, we literally didn't know where all of our PHI was stored throughout our network until an auditor forced us to start searching manually. That aspect alone made the cost worth it for me. Cons Setting up crawling and classification rules takes a lot of time and you really need someone who already has experience. And this part that annoys me is that if files get skipped or tagged incorrectly troubleshooting is very technical and not really appropriate for what it is. I end up digging through logs just to figure out why a file is mislabeled and end up filing a ticket with it instead of fixing it myself. Review Source Harsh G. Very powerful tool. Pros Very powerful tool that is essential to understanding what type of data resides on your company's network and infrastructure. Cons Integration was smooth, but there are a few "gotchas" that were missed the first time around surrounding SQL version options, and certain checkboxes such as OCR that if you didn't catch it during the initial setup that entire crawls would have to be redone. It is VERY VERY EXPENSIVE! The amount of data that is captured is honestly quite overwhelming. Some false positives are expected, but it would be nice if they could be better identified. After getting it setup, the remediation steps are still in the works after 2+ years. Reason for choosing Netwrix Data Classification Seemed more fluid and vetted than the others.
