### "Not quite as good as it sounds"

January 28, 2022

4.0

My client wanted me to create lead magnets based on her blog posts. Desginrr has been a big help. The first ebook was was manageable to create in Canva, but the next one was going to be a lot of work to paste everything into Canva. I thought there must be an easier way, and soon discovered Designrr. It sounded like just what we needed, and they had special deal for lifetime access. My client eagerly paid for it and I started learning the ropes. They sent out a series of email tutorials to help me get started, plus they have tutorials and a help center right inside the app. It's a bit of a learning curve but my client has been happy with the results.

Pros

Designrr makes it super simple to import content from blog posts just by inserting the URL. Then you can edit the content in Drafts before importing it into a project. You can also easily combine multiple blog posts into one project, with each post as its own separate chapter. I love that Designrr automates things like page numbering and Table of Contents and distributing text across pages. If you got the layout of a particular page just the way you want it, you can lock it, so it won't accidentally be disturbed as you shift content on other pages around. You can upload your own images or pull from their ample stock photo library. You can also create folders - for instance, to group all images related to a certain project. Another cool feature is that you can have words automatically wrap around the image OR you can move it freely wherever you want - for example, if you have extra white space you want to "decorate." The finished ebook is very visually appealing.

Cons

Designrr has quite a bit of a learning curve - but of course I had to pick a complex project for my first one ;-) When I create the Table of Contents, it changed the formatting (font and color) of the chapter headings inside the book. Word wrap doesn't seem to apply to icons like it does for images. You can do limited image editing such as cropping but when you save the edit it makes a copy - which is good - but two things about that are not so great. One, it puts the copy in the main image folder not the folder with the original image. Two, I have a hard time telling the images apart by the thumbnails. For instance, if I have a square version and a vertical version they are not easily distinguishable by their thumbnails, and I don't see any way to mark them by file name or tag or something. Also, in the image editing window, the editing tools cover up part of image. I have to Zoom out my browser to be able to see most of the image. Choosing templates and dimensions is a bit confusing. We prefer the 16:9 landscape format. Designrr seems to go by inches like for a printed book. Since people use Designrr for both print books and PDF lead magnets, having page dimensions for both uses would be helpful. You can't paste text directly into a text box; you can only type into it. Consequently, if you want to add a block of text longer than a few words or a sentence, that can be a bit cumbersome.

[Canva](https://www.capterra.com/p/168956/Canva/)

Canva is great for graphic design, but not so great for ebooks, because it doesn't have automated page numbering and Table of Contents. Also you have to manually arrange content on each page and guess how much will fit. If you need to move text around or add or remove text, the surrounding text doesn't automatically shift accordingly. Designrr automatically distributes the content across pages. It's not perfect, but it does the bulk of the work and you can tweak it as you see fit.

Hi Danielle, Many thanks for your feedback, it's really helpful. As you quite rightly point out - many customers come from Canva to Designrr for ebooks, because we're a purpose built book platform as opposed to Canva where you have to do everything page by page..which takes forever. Paul CEO

### "Knowing your purpose? Its the tool for you! Not knowing? Consider it."

January 14, 2023

4.0

I enjoy it, and I use it when I have a purpose to use it. Unlike canva, it also is very good at understanding we don't have too much time to spend fighting the formatting battle. They are very good at sort of merging the Microsoft Office experience with the Canva experience.

Pros

This software is great for individuals that have already done a lot of writing or publishing and want to utilize their work and combine it into a document, book, or email funnel catch. It has some great features like import from your blog that make things so much easier than standard and tedious "copy and paste" that is still after so many years the norm.

Cons

It feels dated. The template designs are a little older, and unless you know what you want to do with it, it isn't like canva where it can help you determine that. It also is limited to its lane. That is sad, since it has so much potential, and could very easily become the next canva or adobe suite.

Alternatives considered

[Canva](https://www.capterra.com/p/168956/Canva/)

Reason for choosing Designrr

For its purpose it is far superior and allows me to import in without too much time to fight the format or adjust every bit and piece. For a perfectionist this is a huge deal, since it helps save time and energy.

### "Designrr Desktop Publishing Service: a fancy Swiss Army knife that comes in a box with half the blades missing"

September 6, 2025

1.0

Customer support is another wild ride. It’s not absent, but it’s the sort of help where you send in a ticket and get a polite shrug three days later. Compared to, say, Canva’s responsive chat support or Adobe’s endless but at least reachable helplines, Designrr feels like you’re shouting into a canyon and hoping for an echo.

Pros

Be careful about hidden traps, like the teeny-tiny opt-in recurring subscription authorization at the bottom of the subscription agreement. It’s a trap filled with piranhas.

Cons

Designrr Desktop Publishing Service is like a fancy Swiss Army knife that comes in a box with half the blades missing. On paper, it promises a whole spread of bells and whistles: easy eBook creation, sleek templates, seamless publishing to multiple platforms. The glossy marketing makes it sound like the lovechild of Adobe InDesign and Canva, sipping cocktails on a beach somewhere. But when you roll up your sleeves and start clicking around, the shine comes off fast.

### "eBook Creation Made Easier"

April 26, 2021

5.0

After grabbing the lifetime deal for the basic account and upgrading to the monthly subscription for the pro account I have been slowly learning the system and utilizing the features more and more. It's definitely a learning curve, but the quality of the product is definitely brilliant.

Pros

It's impressive the number of formats you can upload to the Designrr site and it will create a beautiful ebook for you within a few minutes. You can insert blogs, PDF's, Word Documents and even Facebook posts and you'll get a uniform and great product created with the tap of a few keys. The flipbook Generator is one of the features I use the most and it's so powerful for marketing purposes to have the 3D mockup generator of your product that gives clients the ability to envision how the ebook would look in their hands, on their table. The stock images available to use are varied and quality, instantly elevating the overall look of your ebook. There are hundreds of font choices and tiny miniscule editing changes that can be made to ensure the end product is exactly how you want it to look. The transcription option is fantastic for those who utilise a lot of video in their business.

Cons

It is a major learning curve! If you're used to the basic functionality of Canva the Designrr is going to frustrate the heck out of you until you learn where things are situated and how to go about editing each section. It can be a very time-consuming learning curve. There could be more tutorials available and the tutorials should be easier to find.

Switched from

I don't have to retype anything or individually edit text boxes - I can just upload a typed document and then tweak the design elements rather than redo the entire thing.

### "Designrr software "

it has been absolutely wonderful, and I plan to renew to more credits as there are many books inside of me waiting to come out.

Pros

helped me create my book in record time. all i really had to do was check the information and add or subtract from it.

Cons

it took some time to see how it reacts and works so unfortunately i used about 30000 credits, but they give you 100000 credits to start.

### "Stay clear of them "

August 19, 2025

1.0

As mentioned software basic and doesn’t offer as much as others. Overpriced for what it is and I believe they

Pros

It was a simple to use system but very basic and didn’t offer as much as other AI softwares out there.

Cons

When I cancelled the service they took the next years payment of $497 and when I asked for a refund they told me I was out of the original 30 days refund policy window and they don’t offer it on renewal. I requested the cancellation on the day of renewal. Rediculous and I believe that they are hoping people forget to cancel.

### "You get what you pay for in the lifetime deals"

July 24, 2020

3.0

To me it is a hit and miss relationship. It has some nice features to create ebooks and self-publish but their interface bugs can make the experience unpleasant. Some people love it...others get annoyed.

Pros

I like the available conversion for kindle format and other digital book formats. The newly added 3D cover option is also useful (I'm not sure if this is available in the basic plan) I like the drag and drop functionality and the ability to import from word documents. The more convenient features are available in their agency plan which is an annual subscription but I don't see a need for it.

Cons

It's a little clunky at times. Frequently, I have to go read the html code in order to get it to do what I want to do. It is sold as a plug and play type approach but I have found it frustrating at times when the user interface starts bugging out. The feature to edit all similar elements or just the selected elements, can be buggy at times and sometimes the changes don't stick. It has gotten better over time but I, sometimes, feel like it would be easier to just publish a pdf using MS Word.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Designrr

They had a lifetime offer and their marketing video was well done. I was a little disappointed when I started using the product because it wasn't as fast to publish as the video suggested.

### "FIX your cancellation system Designrr. Not okay."

February 26, 2025

1.0

Pros

I thought this software was going to work, but it didn't. Then I couldn't get out.

Cons

I bought it to create pdf handouts from my slideshow which would save me having to do the work myself. It never worked. Felt like I was sold on a faulty software. But that wasn't my biggest issue, actually. Trying to get out of the subscription service was so complicated it felt like a scam. I think that is VERY POOR FORM for any company. Not happy with that experience, and for people less tech savvy than me will be stuck in a loop with payments not knowing how to cancel. I don't like that one bit. For this reason alone I would NEVER recommend them.

### "Designerr, The Unique eBook Software"

October 12, 2024

4.0

I have created very nice and beautiful ebooks with Designerr. I am able to save the books I create within the software. I have the smallest plan so I can only create pdf ebooks and flipbooks. I can create beautiful covers from their templates or from my images. For ebooks that I want to submit to Amazon for Kindle or paperback, I use the Word document x file instead of upgrading to the larger plans to publish from an ePub file.

Pros

Designrr creates beautiful ebooks and flipbooks. Depending on the plan there are various file types available to publish. I also like that it automatically creates a great table of contents. Also, any page can be locked to avoid deleting by mistake.

Cons

While it has been upgraded for free since I purchased over 4 years ago, I still find many of the elements difficult to use. I also dislike the ebook formatting because the paragraphs and title elements are not flexible for typing. I find that I spend more time using it than I do with other PDF software such as Microsoft Word.

### "Simplifies layout & sharing in different formats"

October 20, 2020

4.0

I've been around the tech areas since the 80s and have never seen such amazing support from a company, especially given the low price point...$27 with lifetime support is something I've been awed at many times. The annual subscription price is extremely low when you consider the regular updates and the support team. They frequently do webinars and calls that discuss the overall topics of layout, design, tips, tricks, and techniques...again, something I've rarely seen at this price point. I've got layout tools that cost upwards of $1000/seat and can barely get an answer to a question!

Pros

Designrr is a great tool for creating relatively short ebooks, PDF files, Kindle books, and flipbooks. As someone who has done page layout and formatting since the early days of desktop publishing, knowing which tool to use for what purpose is essential. Each format requires specific tweaks to make it work properly for the intended platform and using Designrr has been helpful in creating content upgrades, PDF files, and flipbooks from properly formatted source text. By that, I mean source files that are properly tagged (e.g., using styles in Word and in Google docs) and ready for import into the final layout. It is not, and never was as far as I can tell, meant to be everything for everybody for every purpose. I love that I can have links within the content, create a CTA, store chunks of text to be used in multiple places (short bio anyone?), use branding elements like my logo, font, and colors. I also love that I can download the formatted files to any drive I want, share the files in multiple places, and create content upgrades to go along with blog posts and training courses. I did purchase the upgrade because I wanted (and use) the AI transcription services and import more formats.

Cons

Initially, I was a bit frustrated because of the features I thought were available...when I had a discussion with the support team, I realized I had placed Designrr in the wrong category and was trying to use it as a long document layout tool. Once I developed a better understanding of the "right fit" for the tool, I was golden.

Reason for choosing Designrr

I didn't choose it "over," I chose it as an addition to tools like FrameMaker, InDesign, and even MS Word (which totally sucks for doing page layout). I wanted something that was intended for short-to-medium short document lengths, and Designrr fits that well.

### "Subscription based trial service misleading and fraudulent"

March 2, 2022

1.0

Designrr is a subscription based online scam. It is set up to grift and confuse the innocent creative person with the easy to use tools to build an e book. It is not easy. Using Facebook ADs It lures you into a lifetime subscription offer for 27 USD and further a 7 day free trial for the advanced plans. Unfortunately it leaves you no way to cancel before 7 days. The whole commerce backend is set up to confuse and gives no confirmation of completion.Neither does it cancel your visa. I was billed for the lifetime subscription for 27 USD, the pro package 37 USD(7 day free trial) and the Premium plan 98 USD (7 day trial) all in one month. Why would I need three plans? When I texted the online help operator for a refund and clarification, all the charges went through my visa the online assistance stopped. I have yet to receive a reply for my cancellation. As result of this grifting I had no choice but to cancel my visa, and write poor reviews so others may look closer before they subscribe with Designrr.

Pros

Got me started into an idea. Good Idea.

Cons

The software promotes itself as an easy to use product. The word processor is limited and not as user friendly as Microsoft word. It uses Google functions to operate Spellcheck. It is difficult to copy and download your work without doing a tutorial . There are lots of tutorials. Most tutorials are for function but in managing your account their is little assistance in cancellation or closing your account. The platform claims large subscription base but has a poorly designed backend and is difficult to navigate subsciption. It seems to be a grifting ad phishing platform to lure in innocent creative people.

### "Designrr Changed The World"

January 17, 2021

5.0

Designrr has changed my way of doing things online by enabling me to create content fast and publish it. This software is underpriced and it over delivers. All software creators need to take a page from \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] book and learn how to provide this kind of customer support and product.

Pros

I have said it many times and I will say it again. This is the best software that I have ever bought. I have been a subscriber since the beginning in2015/16 and this software only gets better with time. I am just amazed at the upgrades that \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] and the crew have done to Designrr over the years. This is the software that changed the world. I even wrote a blog about Designrr. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] I wrote that from my own experience and stand behind it 100%

Cons

No problems. I love everything about Designrr. Anyone that has problems is provided free training by the Designrr.

### "Lifetime plan was good value but it is not clear what is excluded"

July 25, 2023

4.0

I purchased the lifetime low-cost plan because I wanted a digital flipbook to sell on my website. It has fullfilled it's role well but on an one going basis I use it very little. It has higher priced plans which appeal but I'm not a massive business, I only need the occassional thing so the pricing/packages do not match my needs or I'd likely use it more.

Pros

I created a flipbook to sell on my website, mock up images of books, I can convert pdfs to ebooks. It's basic & simple to use, it was inexpensive. It doesn't do everything on this plan level which wasn't that transparent.

Cons

There are restrictions on what format can be converted based on the lifetime plan. It was inexpensive but also very restricted. I'm a small business I could do with a bit of everything rather than a lot of one thing.

Reason for choosing Designrr

It was priced low & fulfilled one purpose completely. I'm not a designer, a lot of the features are redundant for me. I didn't consider another as it was an impulse purchase. It was easy, simple & low cost at a no-brainer lifetime price.

### "Infuriating"

December 31, 2021

2.0

100% hated it. I'd ask for my money back if I knew where to start. Never want to bother with this program again. As far as creating PDFs are concerned, Microsoft Word is a thousand times more efficient. Even Canva is a better option.

Pros

Nothing. There was literally nothing I liked about it. From the moment I opted to try this software, I spent twenty minutes of my life trying to get to the checkout page being upsold one thing after another I wasn't interested in. I should have known then to cut bait and get out.

Cons

95% of the time you drag an element to your document, it doesn't take. So you're left clicking and dragging repeatedly until it does what it's supposed to. I selected "apply to all elements" or whatever it says, yet specifically for headers, it never took, leaving me to go through and apply headers to each and every page of the document. No option to apply a drop cap, which is a style choice, but something a lot of people prefer in creating eBook content. I hate that the paragraphs are spaced apart and the options to change that are limited. A lot of ebook retailers will reject books with excessive white space, so this is another frustrating feature. Also, if you have a long paragraph, this program won't split it, but instead moves it to a new page. That leaves you with a bunch of half-full pages because it's moved the content onto the next. I'm not sure if it fixes that issue in a reflowable format, but I'm not wasting my money to find out.

### "I Really Want to Love Designrr.io but ..."

May 27, 2020

3.0

Trying to import from Word. Keep getting an error that it cannot import Word Docx. But that is the format Designrr is supposed to be able to import. So I switched to Google docs import. I was ecstatic that importing into Designrr via Google Doc actually worked! Although I followed the help docs when I prepared my document for importing. It still imported with a lot of formatting issues. It seems, functions that "should be" simple aren't. I upgraded to the PRO version thinking the issues I had with the basic version would not be an issue with an upgraded account. Unfortunately, for me that has not been the case. I did contact support but to be fair it's only been a couple of hours. The low support score I gave was due to the fact that they lack documentation for troubleshooting. The help center consists of tutorial videos. But there aren't' any articles to help figure out issues before contacting support. There are alternatives on the market and I've decided to give them a try. This may be a great option for many and if that's the case awesome! It's just hasn't been a great option for me. To be fair, I have managed to complete a few pdfs using Designrr but not without some of the same issues I've already mentioned.

Pros

I like the features offered by Designrr. The ability to import from Word, Google Docs is what made me want to upgrade my subscription.

Cons

(Sigh) I really, really , really want to love Designrr but I have yet to have a "bug free" session. Every single time I use it which is less and less these days. I end up trying to use a feature that for whatever reason either just doesn't work or I have to "figure out" how to get something to work the way it does in their tutorials. Perhaps it's growing pains. Who knows.

### "Great ebook creator that has come a long way"

May 16, 2024

5.0

I love this app and I think that it's underpriced for sure! I use it once or twice per month, and I love that they keep adding more functionality (like AI recently). As a designer they also created great looking templates which have not been there before, and I notice constant improvements and addons that help me in my day to day work.

Pros

I love the effectiveness of being able to write ebooks that serve as lead gens so quickly. The face that I can turn every one of my articles into ebooks or sometimes even podcasts. Now with the new AI tool I wrote a full ebook in like 5 mins.

Cons

The ebook editor has its bugs, but they've come a long way in fixing them and their support really helps.

I find it a joy to use. I am enjoying the learning process, working my way around all the functionalities and also the bonuses I keep finding inside the app. Thank you to the creators for keeping in mind new marketers, writers, startups, the price is an unbelievable $27 one-time lifetime fee. That is so generous. Thank you.

Pros

I love that I can Write, Edit, Format, and Even Publsh a book in 48 hours or less. The Price at $27 was a cherry on the cake. As a 6 time publisher, I wonder how I survived and wrote all those books without Designrr. I am also able to create lead magnets super fast, give aways, downloadables, eBooks... The Drag and Drop Design templates for all kinds of options like Images, Video, Text, etc is simply ease on speed. Even my non-techie mom would love it. Easy to use, lots of Templates on offer for the book covers, and I am able to format a book for Kindle Publishing THAT For me is a Time saver. I love the resource so far. Thank You.

Cons

Hmm if I am being picky, that I have to create the content off of designrr and pre-edit a lot of it pre-upload. As a writer and tech geek myself, I don't consider this a con at all though. But I guess a new non-techie user might.

### "Excellent Software with Room for Improvement "

November 1, 2020

4.0

I love it. It is relatively easy to learn at the same time as being a viable skill. Once you have one book out there, it gives you the confidence to get out there and at least, e-publish. You start to see its power and that in turn gets your creative juices going. The support team are superb! The marketing/upselling is dishonourable.

Pros

The templates and interpretation of documents is really good. I didn't realised until I uploaded it to Kindle that Kindle takes over the pagination. So it's software that speaks to other software quite comprehensively.

Cons

1.It is not a Lego like or as intuitive as the ad campaigns would have you believe. Mind, you anything worthwhile is worth learning and it is certainly relatively easy to master. It will make you indispensable if you're the only one in the office that can knock an ebook or an ezine together. 2. The videos are good but not idiot-proof, and they DO need to be idiot-proof. One might be proficient in other arenas, but nobody who is serious will mind being baby stepped through new software. That said, where that fails and where one's intellectual deficit is an issue, the support teams are top-notch! 3. Kindle doesn't like your covers, it wants covers done slightly differently - that is frustrating. 4. It sold to you in tiers. I don't like that. Quote me the biggest price up front for whatever level of capability and I'll pay - happily. Don't up-sell me seconds seconds after I have made a purchase. I don't care how effective a sales technique it is, it ain't just about your profits, it's about customer satisfaction too.

### "Very limited number of templates per category"

December 7, 2021

Horrible. The ad doesn't reflect reality.

Pros

Can enhance the design of the document for the inside pages

Cons

A very limited number of templates A very limited number of fonts It doesn't import the original format of the document which means you have to re-edit page by page

Response from PageOneTraffic

Hi Mais, Sorry to read that. Just for the benefit of other readers. We have hundreds of templates, and you can set the font once for the whole document, so you don't have to edit page by page. We have over 900 fonts to choose from.

### "Best software i've ever bought "

February 9, 2021

5.0

Fabulous ... I was struggling watching videos of best ways to produce my books but once I found designrr I was at least up and running ... now to afford the pro-bundle

Pros

designrr is an easy to use slick piece of software. I have written a few "how to" and "children's" books, book's that I intent to sell on line and convert to other mediums such as audio books training courses and video's. I am at the very start of this journey and I didn't really know where to start. Thank goodness for designrr. I tentatively bought it at an extremely low price hoping that it would help me in the production process. IT DOES THAT AND FAR MORE... it is very easy to use with a very good help section and plenty of back up from the company. As with everything you have to familiarise yourself with the interface but you will soon be making beautiful and pleasing articles ...

Cons

I think that a little more explanations could be included for picture use and using templates and a guide on how to create your own ( from scratch) cover would be good... It is all there but when learning to use this software it is trial and error to find it

### "Great way to easily create eBooks from blog articles and more!"

March 30, 2021

5.0

I love Designrr as a way to quickly and easily convert my articles, courses, and even FB content into eBooks, which I can use as give-aways or to sell. I find more and more ways to use it each time I work with it!

Pros

Easy to use (after a little learning curve to understand the process) Versatile Quickly create eBooks (as PDF, for Kindle, flipbooks, and more) to sell Creates multiple uses for your content and intellectual property

Cons

Some of my desired design layout choices don't integrate easily -- you have to learn how it all works in terms of customizing your layout and content

Reason for choosing Designrr

They were offering a special pricing opportunity I took advantage of, to try it out. After using it, I quickly upgraded to a stronger package. And they do not use any hard-sell tactics.
