Very positive. A great digital design software for those on a budget or who just don't want to work witj Adobe anymore.

Pros

Extremely feature-filled even at the free level, Photopea is an excellent alternative to the expensive Adobe Photoshop.

Cons

Some features that seem like they should be basic are paywalled, and ads can make program run poorly.

### "Photopea is perfect for people new to editing"

March 18, 2025

5.0

Overall, its an easy to use photo editor for your basic needs. It’s editing interface is similar to other photo editors which allows you to quickly get started.

Pros

I was drawn to use to Photopea because it was free to use and great if I’m away from my laptop. I would describe it as easy for even a a novice. It does a good job with doing basic editing features which would be easy for anyone.

Cons

Sometimes actions in the program seem. slow but that could also be the age of my computer or it needing to be rebooted for an update. Still a good idea to save your work frequently.

### "A twin that wins!"

June 14, 2026

5.0

My overall experience with Photopea is exceptionally positive; it stands as an incredible achievement in web-based software, effectively democratizing professional-grade design tools. The fact that I can access a near-identical Photoshop experience directly in a browser—without any installation, subscription bloat, or hardware lock-in—is truly impressive. Its ability to handle PSD files while preserving complex layers, smart objects, and layer styles makes it an indispensable part of my toolkit for quick edits, on-the-fly adjustments, and collaborative file reviews. It fills a critical niche by being there whenever and wherever I need it, turning any connected device into a functional creative workstation. While I recognize its limitations regarding heavy-duty, high-resolution rendering compared to native desktop applications, it isn't meant to replace my full Photoshop suite; rather, it complements it by providing unparalleled mobility and accessibility. When I'm in the field and need to make a fast, professional-level change, Photopea is the tool I reach for, and its reliability in those moments of need makes it a standout piece of software.

Pros

What I like most about Photopea is its unparalleled versatility and portability, which fundamentally shifts how I handle design tasks on the move. Being an open-source, web-based tool, it provides a high-performance, cost-effective alternative to expensive industry-standard software without sacrificing functionality. The seamless integration of PSD files is truly impressive; it maintains every layer, group, and smart object, allowing for a completely fluid workflow between different platforms. Most importantly, the fact that I can access this power directly from my phone is an absolute game-changer. It offers me the freedom to perform complex edits or adjustments while I am out in the field, providing a professional-grade creative environment that fits entirely within my mobile device.

Cons

While Photopea is a powerful tool, it does have drawbacks that become especially apparent during mobile use. Despite the advanced hardware in a device like my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4—which is built specifically to handle complex, multitasking workflows—Photopea often struggles to maintain stability. Because it operates entirely within a browser environment, it is subject to strict memory constraints; as a result, performance can become sluggish, laggy, or prone to crashes when working with high-resolution images or multi-layered files. It’s frustrating when a device designed for high-performance productivity hits a wall due to browser-based limitations, often resulting in UI glitches or frozen interfaces during intensive tasks like content-aware fills. Additionally, the ad-supported free version can be a distraction on a mobile screen, where every pixel is precious. Ultimately, while it is incredibly convenient for light editing on the go, it lacks the raw, localized hardware acceleration of a dedicated desktop application, making it less reliable for long-term projects or extremely complex creative work.

### "A compact Cluster of My Favorite Image Editing Tools"

July 26, 2023

5.0

It's a great alternative for editing online. It's fast and flexible.

Pros

Photopea is an amazing online Photoshop alternative. It's free and very easy to use.Its user interface is very beginner-friendly as all its features are distributed accurately. It works perfectly with project files from Sketch, Adobe XD, CorelDraw, Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, and Adobe Illustrator. It supports Layer Masking, layers, selection, paths, smart objects (SOs), Layer styles, Text Layers, Vector shapes, and FiltersIt's not different from the regular Photoshop or Sketch App, I usually work with (except with a few differences). This tool is free and just one Google search away. What I really like about this tool is the fact that I can work flexibly without signing up or purchasing any paid membership.I get to choose from a range of screen sizes to commence a project with and I can export my files in different formats just like in Photoshop.I can also choose to save the project as a . PSD file which I can easily deploy to other advanced versions of Photoshop. It's incredible and thank the developers for making such an amazing tool available to the public for absolutely free.

Cons

Here's a little bug I've experienced with the tool. Sometimes exporting an image in PNG (with transparent background) doesn't work properly. It either distorts the image or exports it with a dark blur background.I experienced this like 3 to 5 times and after trying for the sixth time, It worked.Secondly, Photopea is still limited in advanced image editing.

There are many reasons for switching to Photopea and even though all these alternatives work well and probably serve their purposes, However, They are all limited in one way or the other

Pros

Customers prefer Photopea's fast customer support and secure payments, which make it convenient to design and use templates for business picture needs without having to download heavy software.

Cons

Other users prefer template choices or pro features less comprehensive than desktop suites, and the addition of sophisticated security features or payment features demands more attention.

Pros

I like the fact that it shares a lot of functions and tools that mirror the most popular software options that are out, but for free!

Cons

I disliked the fact that there is no option to download the software to run it locally. I also dislike that it lacks its own identity in terms of features.

### "Easy to use"

December 13, 2022

5.0

When I used Photopea, my photo editing problems were solved. I can now take photo editing orders from many customers and do it easily. I realized that this Software has lot of features and when I utilize them enough, I think I can work even easier and faster.

Pros

In Photopea, the features that I find most impactful is the Drag & Drop feature and Design Management because both of them makes me feel organized. This product is definitely easy to use for me because I find it easy to learn new things as long as I'm interested in it using the internet. When I started taking photo editing jobs, I learned to become open in new things specifically using new software. This is actually the third software I practiced during pioneer days and the integration with my existing business processes is easy.

Cons

I believe all kinds of Software can improve. When it comes to this one, my only suggestion is to make copyright free photos to choose from to use in the software soon. I sometimes need to use certain specific objects like a photo of a field of flowers and I have to look for them in some another website. I think it'll be convenient if it'll be available on the Photopea Software itself.

### "An online service rivaling photoshop but not so simplified"

August 20, 2020

4.0

My team and I used the software for a long time, it was a great choice because we had the possibility to use the platform anywhere and on any operating system, this for us was a great advantage, in addition to the functions that were satisfactory for our graphic editions. The beginning of our projects with a focus on graphic design was with him, and it is essential that the quality of the project is very high. However, with an ever greater change of employees, the training difficulty did not compensate, since the functions necessary to carry out the edits were quite complex, so we saw the need to change services.

Pros

In general, Photopea is a good editing software, with basic and advanced tools. For users of traditional Photoshop, it is a very close online alternative. To take advantage of the online platform, it is not necessary to register or download any program on the computer, which is a great advantage over your competitor, in addition to having a range of files to create very interesting projects.

Cons

The software is interesting and a good alternative for some users, but due to the complexity of some of its functions and the lack of an instruction on usability, it is definitely a bad option for aspirants who want to create visual art projects, in addition to having some limitations for more experienced users who prefer to find a more effective action on their competitor.

### "Full-fledged image editing powerhouse right in your browser"

January 7, 2022

5.0

Pros

What I like the most about Photopea is that it holds so many image editing capabilities under one platform, accessible from any modern web browser — for free! Also it can import and export some of the most popular formats which makes it even more powerful.

Cons

I think Photopea can improve even more by offering users two interfaces; simple and advanced, the simple interface can contain the more common features like cropping, resizing, etc. in a more modern and intuitive layout. And the advanced interface could be the current version which has all the features.

### "Good things do come in a little package"

September 30, 2022

4.0

I have tried several free and low cost graphics platforms, and Photopea has been the most versatile, user friendly, and photoshop-like platform I have found. There are some limitations in the free version, but if you are looking at using the general tools, it packs a good toolkit for creating artwork and rendering graphics.

Pros

Ease of use, general foundational tools available with free SW - ability to open existing PS files and layers.

Cons

I found this SW gave me more than I expected from a free platform.

### "Best free photo editing software"

September 20, 2021

4.0

It has been an overall good experience. It looked visually pleasing, easy to use and fast. I would recommend this to anybody who does requires a fast and easy way to edit his/her photos without the complexity that larger and slower editing software would require.

Pros

If you are looking for a light software for that does most of your major photo editing work for free then Photopea is what I would recommend. Now the thing that I like the most about is the fact that there is an online version of it. So if you are on the go, you could edit without having a computer on your person. I like that it is fast and simple. If you have used any photo editing software before it would probably be very easy to pick up photopea. I would recommend this software if your needs are like mine which are basically minimal photo editing.

Cons

I did not see anything that I would consider a con. but for a photo editing software to be that fast, I suspect it would probably lack certain features and functionalities that perhaps professional editors would want, so you might want to check first if it has what you need. because of the trade-off between size/speed & features/functionalities. However it is not an issue because I am not a professional editor. If I were to use it I would simply use it for my own gain. Other than that I don't suspect anything else.

Pros

When I had a low-end PC, I would use PhotoPea and it worked like a charm. It had all the needed feature and I would not miss Photoshop at all. Even with a higher end PC, I would use PhotoPea when I did not have access to Photoshop. So, PhotoPea is an amazing alternative to Photoshop which is lite and easy to use on the go.

Cons

### "Undoubtedly a very complete site to edit images at the level of other professional software"

October 3, 2021

4.0

I use photopea as an alternative option when I am away from my editing program and need to make certain modifications, I don't use it very often but it is always an incredible alternative and I recommend it for those who are starting to get used to image editing and want to start leaving. to a more professional platform, this is it.

Pros

This online editor impressed me, it is very complete, it has the necessary and complete options to make the professional editing space, options such as liquefying, layered work, even filters and smart selection options, I like it because it is online and it is an alternative incredible to use it anywhere with an internet connection without having to install it, and the best thing is the diversity of formats that it accepts such as psd, Ai among others I am really impressed with the quality of the interface that this program has and how easy and intuitive it is to use.

Cons

There is not much to say about cons, only that some options may be limited, but it is normal, it happens in all programs, you cannot always have everything resolved, that is why these reviews are to help these programs to improve .

### "Your Photo Editing Bestie"

September 24, 2022

Overall, the program is a suitable alternative for those who can't afford the more expensive photo editing programs. Although there is a learning curve, once you get the hang of where everything is it's pretty much smooth sailing from there.

Pros

The program allows you to maneuver around your workplace easily and makes identifying what you would like to fix or add to images a breeze. There are many cool features and it makes editing fun.

Cons

There is a learning curve to the program, like many others before it. It sometimes runs slowly depending on the size of project you're working on, so you have to be patient when editing and searching for its tools. Therefore it takes some time to get use to the program itself.
