Director of Curriculum and Technology Education Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Economical Basic Website Manager with Good Customer Service" October 21, 2021 4.0 The biggest plus to our work with Catapult has been the great customer service and ability to work with the developers. At one point when it was described to me the 58 step process (no joke - I saw the list) of publishing our monthly school board meetings, I analyzed where the bulk of those steps occurred and worked with a company developer to show him the problem and my suggested solution. Within a couple of weeks, an hour long process just to post the monthly agenda was down to 15 minutes. Pros They helped transition us from our last website manager to their platform and provided good basic personalized training and some ongoing support. With some basic training of users, maintenance is fairly easy. I also like that there is basically a "splash page" from which I can quickly go back and forth from our various Catapult platform products. Cons Heavy reliance on pre-done templates and layouts. Years ago when I worked in Dreamweaver I found there to be a really good balance there of greater flexibility in my editing that I get often frustrated with using Catapult CMS. Pros CatapultCMS is intuitive and easy to use. Users can easily edit and add to their websites. The integration with mass notification and an app creates a powerful and integrated communication platform. Cons There could be more robust editing tools and it would be easier if all subpages were linked to the main page rather than having to link them as an external website. This would also make it easier to link the subpages back to the home page. There have been ways I have found to work around the limited components available and the support team has been amazing. Pros I love that it is easy to use. It is simple and easy to train additional staff if needed. Cons You are locked down to very limited templates and components. It has a lot of clutter on the home page and not many options to remove or re-arrange how you want things to look. If you upload documents/images to one page, it does not carry over to other pages so you need to re-upload a lot of content. There is no options to create re-directs or shorten URLs. If you publish to preview only, the page publishes overnight so very difficult to work on pages and put them into the review. It is a pleasure to use the software and all interactions with customer service are great. Pros We switched from another educational website software company mostly because it was so difficult and cumbersome to use. Catapult is so user-friendly, making updates is very easy. And the customer service is amazing, every time. So responsive. Cons Only one editor can publish a section at a time. Doesn't integrate well with google calendar. The horizontal banner is sometimes difficult when formatting images in the space. Cons I really wish the picture editor for the Banner was more evolved. It is terrible trying to find pictures that fit. I also have issues with pictures fitting in the announcement section. We have been able to update our entire site at a very reasonable price. In addition, they have features that make it very easy to add or change items on the current page. Cons Some times the formatting is frustrating, but with more experience it has become easier to use and customize. It has definitely grown with the times. With each release new and updated features make using this software easier. I see no reason to look for a different product. Pros We have three separate web sites and have multiple users editing those pages. They can all gain access through an easy to navigate dashboard. That makes it easy to quickly add or edit content. With upgrades in design our websites have a clean, fresh look about them. Cons There have been some issues in the past with certain features. However, the Catapult staff is always available and willing to correct/fix/improve any issues. So there is really nothing that stands out that hasn't been addressed. We wanted a website that represented who we are, the new design definitely delivered on that expectation. Pros Catapult is so easy to use! Our previous website was clunky and hard to manage, we had to contact the developer any time we wanted to add pictures or make any other changes. Catapult has made it easy to make the changes ourselves. Cons The only thing we wish we could do that we can't is the ability to integrate ParentSquare into the website. Cons The integration with other Catapult products is terrible to non-existent. We use EMS and Connect as well as CMS, and have to have separate scripts to synchronize data for each product.
