Pros E-Builder is an all-encompassing program that helps with document control and invoices. Cons Items that are in certain users courts stay there without any indication on if the item will move to the next step. Also, no follow up notifications are sent to users who may not know items are in their court. There should be a better way to print summaries of submittals and RFI processes. In addition, identifying where the bottlenecks are and allowing us to quickly address them to either remodify the workflow or provide additional training/support to staff within the process. Great reporting tool as well for urgent requests by upper or executive level management. Pros System is user friendly, nice to track what is sitting in peoples "current step", report wizard is nice to help generate ad hoc reports, and cost summary hold people accountable to how much is budgeted for their project. Cons Show more video demonstration on different BI reports and Dashboards. Have standard dashboards step up from EB. Do a workshop on how to setup a BI Dashboard and see if others in EB community can share theirs. Other simple video demos on Import Tools (i.e., project imports, etc) More improvement on Planning Module. Many of the features and functions see to be tedious or extra clicking or difficult to run cash flow by month. Video demo on Scheduling module and setting up a schedule for a project and running a cash flow. Then run a nice dashboard to show the project with cash flow curves and project details. Architect Architecture & Planning Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Pier 17 - Architect Experience" October 27, 2016 4.0 We've been using E-Builder the past 3 years for the project and I admit that as we were evolving the way that we were using the platform through the years, as well as the several updates that E-Builder did have improved the experience. Overall, there have not been major issues in the process between architect - contractor, apart from some instances that we are currently facing where there is some sort of bug that creates a numbering issues at the submittals ID. Although we have found a temporary solution (between contractor and architect) to keep the work going, we believe that such an issue is creating a disorganized archive of all the submittals and should be avoided. Other than that, we do believe there is still some more room for better user experience at the platform. Lastly, at times the loading time between pages while browsing in E-Builder, takes more than normal, slowing down the process. It allowed for a command centered approach while still fostering a strong collaborative effort. Pros The collaboration features in my mind, are what make this document most useful. The transparency it allows by seeing who has a document in their court I found very critical in establishing ownership. Cons The initial learning curve is high but I think that was also encumbered by how the file system was set up by our construction managers. Review Source jF james F. Trust all, or trust none. It shows who is not trusted by action, and your words are no longer necessary to communicate the lack of trust to those you shun. Review Source CC Coty C. Pros The structuring has saved us a lot of time and effort. Addition of information has been an easy process, and the security of knowing these materials are stored here and not to be tampered with has been relieving. Cons Not having a visual representation of the material takes a lot of guessing when opening files. Also, when creating larger reports, the program has a tendency to crash. When the systems are tied out we know we can move forward using the tool effectively. Pros I like the approval process setup in the system. It seems to work efficiently and helps guide projects from beginning to end. I think having documents and approvals for each is good as well. I have learned to appreciate the program. Pros There is a steep learning curve but when you understand how it works and how to use it, there's a lot of great features. Cons The learning curve is extremely steep. We don't use the program very often and when we started using it, it was very complex. If i keep tracking E-builder, it is fine. But the projects are over 8 ~ 10 what I involved, I felt it is not easy to find and arrange the issues by dates and communication history. It has also organized my department to a single file structure allowing easier and timely location of critical project information. Sharing information across the University is also better as all of our data is formatted similarly for all projects. Pros The ease of transferring files into the eBuilder file system and ability to view files from the web while traveling. Scheduling is much improved since the last update. Cons Cost accounting can be difficult to understand because of all of the different areas where items can be entered. Other members of KCMO - KC Water community can change documentation I generate and I always file a signed and dated pdf in my projects eBuilder files. I wish KCMO - KC Water give us access to TRIMBLE Viewpoint as well to keep industry trends in mind while performing our jobs. Pros Although I have been part of PMI since 2010, I only took the PMP exam once and fail for just a few points. Nevertheless I follow Project Management practice per PMP principles. KCMO - KC Water utilizes eBuilder as a requisite to access federal funds. I use it to keep my records in a SAFE Depository for ever. However, account management and support needs better follow up on specific call tickets and overall system assessment.
