Numerous projects with numerous users can access all the same stored information at the same time. Sending RFI, Submittals, transmittals, meetings, reports etc and then sending & placing the requisite information in the other users court - its fantastic. Cons Very limited in customization (which could be down to the way the project was set up) and tedious amount of clicking to get through to where you need to, and then having to start again when go on to next task rather than just going to next item (report, submittal, photo etc) Review Source FR Franco R. Pros Step by step prompts for action and procedure are great. Ease of use is very user friendly. I have spent 30 years in the mortgage business prior to my new tenure in Contract development and implementation in this new position for now six months. I used four different systems in my mortgage career since the early 1990s and this software is better than any I previously used as far as ease of use and tracking abilities. I am a fan. Cons Like all software, the learning curve was necessary but better than most. Repetition of use is the key to learn the system and is easier than most but somewhat challenging on the front end. Pros There are still a few areas where e-B is making improvements. Particularly with document management retrieval and including metadata options. It holds collective information for the ability of everyone to see simultaneous. e Builder is a good construction management tool for the inspectors and construction manager, project manager, contractors, City staff and legal and audit teams. Pros Submittal process is great until you try and change a comment, system doesn't allow a coordinator to change or delete a comment that he or she may have placed. Bummer. Reports are clean and easy to configure with excel. Cons See above comments regarding my issues and or concerns.. If the issue with comments can be cleaned up it would help a lot. Also when a revision is created I had an instance where the submittal could not be returned to the subcontractor who issued it. Related tried and couldn't provide a solution. Also, we had issues with attachments not going to the right files or going into a catch all folder we called “the black hole”. E-builder has many abilities to generate reports, but if training isn’t provided, it can be very frustrating. Pros Organized files by names, allowed ease of search with keyword search feature, had ability to generate many types of reports. Cons In order to run necessary reports, it was critical to work with an e-builder trainer. Their time was limited and the reports weren’t intuitively generated. We often learned about e-Builder’s abilities to streamline many things we did into one report, but if your e-Builder trainer doesn’t have the knowledge of those tools, it isn’t a real option to you. It was challenging to not be allowed to edit folder names and files without permissions for each file as a document control manager. Review Source AH Aaron H. The new implementation features that will be rolled out in the coming months will also be a valuable asset to our future growth with e-Builder that we are excited to be a part of. Cons Some of the more advanced features of e-Builder (BI, reporting, dashboards, etc.) require a higher level of sophistication that is sometimes difficult for our organization to "bridge the gap" when it comes to effectively utilizing these features. Financial, Document Management and Workflow modules are excellent. Integrates well with enterprise financial systems and space management applications. Business Intelligence (BI) reporting provides more options for customized reporting. Cons The Capital Planning module could better align with the needs of owners with large multi-year capital programs. The Schedule module is being enhanced, which is long overdue. I also like how the filter performs when selecting various processes to view. Cons My least favorite of Ebuilder is not being able to easily drag files over into the system. I also am not crazy about how there is no 'reports' on the side tabs when inside a specific project. The process is to the top tabs, select reports, then select the project. A 'reports' tab on the side tabs would be helpful so you do not have to exit the project just to run a report Review Source VD Vincent D. Each module can be customized to your organization's needs (budget, submittals, rfi, etc) by using a kit of parts methodology. Cons Because the system is project based, data access can be challenging for not project participants. You have to be a member of the project to gain access for instance to log time (via the timesheet module) on the project. Once a project is closed and you want access for operations, its cumbersome. Retail Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Invoicing Construction Projects/Orders" January 19, 2017 4.0 I find e-Builder to be a better tool or process for invoicing construction projects, however, there is a disconnect that I am not sure how to close or get resolution on. It has more to do with the process than the usability of the program. I have to wait for commitments to be entered, which takes days and sometimes it has taken weeks. before I can submit my invoice via e-Builder. I do not understand why commitments are not entered when the POs are issued? Pros It has the potential to be a great tool, giving feedback on the status of invoices entered. It is great having the ability to see the progress and process of invoices entered. It would be better if the processes established were followed consistently. Cons I cannot invoice until the process of commitments has been entered. I have no prior notice that they have been unless I look, usually, they are not there. I have to wait for that usually. It would be a far more seamless process if the commitments were entered when the POs are issued and there would be no guessing or waiting. I would have the ability to invoice via e-Builder the same day I actually invoice thru our system. Currently, I have to re-invoice once the commitment is added to have a current date on the invoice to upload. It is double work, wait and not a smooth process. I understand that they have been in business for many years, so it seems to me that they could have found a way to simplify the processes by now. I think they should study how industry giants like Google and others simplify their software, especially in terms of user interface. At the moment, it does not make the CA process easier - I actually spend far more time on project management than our old standard practices. I expected this software to facilitate speedy management but it has actually done the opposite. It seems, from their FB page, that the company is doing great financially, so I'm afraid that they will mistake their financial success with product success. In short, the e-builder platform needs a major overhaul focused on simplification and eliminating redundancy to cement themselves as they industry leader. Ease of going through different tabs to find pertinent information. Pros It is easy to find particular projects and view related documents and to process payments. Cons Alot of notifications for one payment. I also feel the reporting capabilities are underutilized as we do not have the knowledge at the ground level to use the reports in gathering information. Cons Custom reporting at times is restrictive due to different sections of data. Also, there is no all transactions type of report for fiscal transactions. Access to different modules is too broad at times when it would be preferable to have a more narrow focus on different types of data. How to set up account for new users, the different between account's role and project role. How to manage the document types, using custom fields, add, edit and sort custom fields. How to create and edit mail merge template. And learn how to create form, and report and dashboards. Pros I like most on reports parts, I love to run and exporting out all cost summary reports, progress reports, dashboard, funding sources...etc.... Cons I really enjoy working with eBuilder the information is reliable when searching for accounts paid. My roles as CTP Budget Manager, CTA Finance Procurement, CTP Admin VP for process invoice and payment request, Document oversight which loading some invoice document to e-Builder. and GM-PM, G06 user Contruction, G06 Design. I will be train for e-Builder Admin in the future. Pros I like most about this software are those reports, like cost, concurrence, change, budget cost reviews, funding sources, bid, invoices, process reports...ect.. Pros This is my first time working with a product like e-Builder, so I cannot compare it to any project management software out there. Saying that, I like e-Builder because it is super easy and user friendly. I utilize the home page and the workflow in your court feature a lot. Cons It can be frustrating when e-Builder is slow. I have the indicator on my home page that tell me when e-Builder is slow. The "bar" changes color from green to yellow or red. Today, the entire morning the bar color was red. I also enjoy the (nearly) everywhere availability and accessibility since it is web based and that you are always working with real time information. e-Builder has always had an improvement attitude, so they are always working to make the software better.
