Pros Is good for history purpose as long as users enter the information. Ease of a program is important for time management. Cons Sometime is cumbersome and takes to many steps to complete a task. Pros Is layout out well and takes practice to get used to finding things. Cons it keep documents in order depending on the user to save files. files get saved in many different ways. Reliability - very rare for it to not be available. Cons Lack of support, slow response from support. Poor documentation - not easy to "self learn" new modules, new functionalities. Reason for choosing Trimble e-Builder When E-Builder was first introduced, I recommended this product to my clients in the US. After 2 years, the product and its service have diminished for the more experience project or program manager. For newbies, it continues to impress. I am able to use out-of-box and custom reports to get my people the data they need. The way the dashboard function links with these reports to show charts and graphs is important as well. A simple email to user support will get you in queue for a phone call from an eB rep to discuss the issues you have. They work with you until the issue(s) have been resolved. It has totally turned around our construction management program. Information is available at the touch of a button. It has improved collaboration with the owner, contractor and design team. August 31, 2016 4.0 We utilized e-Builder for a tenant improvement project because it was already in use by the institution for whom we worked. The learning curve was steep for the GC and their accounting department, but as a PM/CM consulting firm I found it accessible and a solid broad spectrum tool. The mandated use by the institution for budgeting and cost functions brought more useful information to the table, and made it easier to justify the effort to the vendors. I instituted its use for meeting schedules and minutes, and updates of the project schedule. With all of these elements in the same tool it became easier to provide status reports. Pros The broad spectrum for inputs. We utilized the system from the bidding module through the pay application and closeout processes. With everything in a common repository it saved time and effort in providing the necessary support documents for the various business processes. Cons The lack of flexibility in the workflows meant that the front-end planning for use had to address all potential alternatives. The system favors a Design-Build approach which assumes the design team to be the construction managers. Our project was Design-Bid-Build with the PM/CM managing the build and having only limited need for design sign-off. Review Source SA Scott A. The ability to utilize BI for reporting is also a major plus. Cons Rigidity of the design and code that hampers some desired (custom) functions. This especially true when it comes to running customized reports. Pros RFI and Submittal management and workflow, version control Cons Bugs pop up sometimes with automated scripts tied to submittal package numbers, RFI attachment depositories, etc. which are usually tied to updates initiated by e-builder. November 16, 2016 5.0 I had limited exposure to e-Builder but the parts I used were great! I was able to easily find and view submittals. Also, creating submittals, attaching the corresponding PDF and posting was super easy! The notifications are awesome for keeping me informed with all the activity, letters, submittals, and othere correspondence as they are posted in real time! I found this software to be very useful! Pros I like that is is web based and there wasn't a ton of lag time when attaching and processing documents. Cons At first forms and some docs were hard to find but once I used it a bunch of times that became easy.
